  • We wanted to do this special video so you could meet our horses and learn more about each of our draft horses and their own personalities!
Watch our videos to learn about draft horses- horse logging, horses farming, and horse training! Jim uses Belgian, Percheron, and Suffolk horses to do work on the farm and in the woods. He teaches about harnesses, horse-drawn logging and farming equipment, horse feeding and maintenance, and voice commands for horses. New videos uploaded every week. Keep watching to see how Jim trains his new Suffolk Punch colts as he has trained his full-grown teams!

All your horses are sleek and well muscled. I have seen draft horses on rescue channels and at auctions with terrible scars and sores on them, which is heart-breaking. Your horses look like they are ready for the show ring. Very good animals too, gentle and hard working. My Grannie kept Guinea fowl and bantam chickens. They both roosted in trees, away from predators. What an exquisite day you had in this video. Your farm is beautiful. :) Greetings from N. Alabama!

Love your videos Brenda! I think everyone has problems with guineas. My kids had them at their ranch and they're just non compliant. They want to be out but get eaten. They roosted on the roof, not good for the expensive shingles. They were down to one, and it continually called with that weird noise because it was lonely. Everyone I see doesn't have them for long.

I am having visions of Jim logging this winter with his Fox hat on, nice and warm, with the fox tail running down the front along his chin. (As he explains skidding a big Oak out) Ah ha. Sorry you lost some birds Brenda, we were missing some birds, and ducks, couldn't figure it out then seen that huge skunk come through the barn yard. He wasn't a problem to too long after that.

The best protection for guineas and chickens that have found is to have a dog run around the area that the birds frequent. Seems like the foxes are put off by the dog scent

Hi Brenda and hello to Jim. I love every aspect of how you run your farm with these magnificent working horses. They are in such great shape, based on your care of them and the work they do with Jim, you and your daughters. I love the pull contests you show with those draft horses of yours. I love your money-colored cat and her kittens. If I lived closer to you I would ask to adopt one . I have a beagle named Buddy and I used to have cats as well as dogs. At one time I had horses and loved pleasure and competitive trail riding. I gave up on the horses, when my last horse pasted away from old age. And I was to old to compete anymore. I love all of the work you show Brenda and Jim. I love your garden as well Brenda. God Bless and I look forward to all of your great TH-cam Videos

Thank you Brenda for sharing us the horses, particularly the three colts and what they have been doing. Be forwarned, be sure to get some hardware wire for the coop run because dogs and wolves CAN tear thru it. Chicken wire is only made to keep chickens IN, but not bigger predators. Chain link over the coop run will work but heavy!

I hope the brake light issue gets fixed. It's not just horse trailers that give trouble -- seems like everyone I've ever known who's pulled any kind of trailer or a pop-up camper has troubles getting the wiring 100% just right. Keep plugging away at it! Meanwhile it was a nice opportunity for you to finally spend time talking about each horse individually. I've been watching this channel for quite a while now, and couldn't keep all your horses straight, because I don't think I've seen ever seen all of them for any length of time in one video. I think I'll finally be able to keep them all straight in my head now. Thank you! And thanks to everyone who suggested this! I enjoyed this video as always 💕🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎 (I need an emoji of a black horse!)

Trailer brakes and electrics are a MAJOR pain. Love the horses - my mares have been notoriously hard to get along with while the geldings are sweetie pies. Nice video Brenda. BTW, our neighbours who are about 1/4 mile away, have lost their guineas to US! We can’t catch them so I hope they go home for the winter. One guinea had about 10 chicks and, along with the other three guineas, they fought off a coyote who was attempting to take some chicks.

Brenda I thought you did a wonderful job talking about the horses. I learned a few things for example, I didn’t even know you had other horses besides the Clydesdales.… I think they are Percherons? The two dark ones you introduced out in the field. I’m new to the video and You did a wonderful job talking about each of the horses and their personalities!
I think you handled the horses very well and I like it that when you’re coming in behind them you called her name so they know it and are not skittish…an example would be when you were cleaning up behind their hooves and then throwing down the dry bedding. I thought that was so respectful lotta people don’t show that to their animals. They are obviously very comfortable with you and you padding them as you go by and showing them affection and big horses need that just as much as smaller horses!! I envy you your job & i’ve listen to my younger sister talk all her life about how she wished she had Percheron and Clydesdale horses that they were her most desired horse.… So I sent her a copy of one of your videos. Her comment was, “those are some of the most beautiful horses I’ve ever seen!! “And she knows horse flesh as she owns horses & Works with champion horses in trading them, So it’s a good complement❣️❣️
I have really been enjoying all the videos that I’ve been watching and I’ve been trying to catch up in between everything else I have going on. I enjoyed your horse pole! And I also felt really bad when the female horse fell in the Field, because of the mud,And I know Jim did too!! My heart went out to him but he stayed calm and I think the horse was “Lady”? And I was so impressed with how she behaved in the incident… She did not struggle or fights a harness but listen to Jim. It just goes to show how much you guys handle and work with the horses as you said every day!❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️♥️♥️
I’m very impressed with everything I am seeing and will continue to watch your channel and I look forward to getting your calendar. God bless you all!

What a wonderful channel. I don't live on a farm but I do live in a rural area that allows livestock and horses. That being said I really enjoy following Jim his Mrs and their wonderful daughters and grandkids. Just food for thought the Mrs. has proven to be a fine farm hand. Perhaps the channel should be changed to Working horses with Jim and Brenda. Maybe?

I really enjoyed your walkabout today, Brenda! I remembered most of the personality idiosyncrasies of the horses, but not all. It was fun and interesting to hear about and see them just realxing. Sorry about your guineas -- it's sad to lose an animal. Your guineas sound different than the ones we had around. The ones that frequented our area were not ours, but they were regular visitors. They made sounds like a file rasping on metal. Yikes! Maybe they were not actually guineas. Or maybe there are different varieties. Good video, and hope Jim is about to easily sort out the brakes.

Brenda ! Good to see you. Sorry Jim is dealing with those "unpleasant" breaks. I like your style of posting this video, Brenda. Jim's usual introduction and music to his posting is, for me, getting difficult to listen to again and again and again. I liked it when you came on and went right into what you shared with us today. I am smiling at myself because my guess is that Jim's attention to getting the job done right, has given your channel to us. Probably TH-cam says that an introduction into each posting is the thing to do. But TH-cam isn't us, well me anyway. I love Working Horses with Jim, your most splendid newsletter and Drill and a Dream posted by Abby. Blessings from Feasterville PA, Claire (Feasterville is just outside of Phila. PA)

No! No! No! I absolutely love the music and beginning of their videos. It sets the mood for me to the sounds of clippety clop of the horses. Each to his own. Please don’t ever change it Jim and Brenda!
