I have so many questions for Mountain Rescue. How do you contact mountain rescue in the event of an emergency, assuming I can't use google 😂 the number is not well known, I have no idea and I've spent the last 20 years hiking. Why do the government not provide any funding for this? Surely this is saving a big headache for the fire service or armed forces whoever deals with it on the government side. Are they actually available 24/7 through volunteers? It doesnt sound possible if they all work jobs have families etc with only 42 volunteers. I'd love to get involved but I'm an hour away from the dales... can that work?

Dial 999 or 112, ask for Police, then Mountain Rescue.
