Because you get a gene that decides eye colour from both your parents so you can have different genes from either parent. And brown is always dominant over blue eyes. That means you (Zoe) have two blue genes (AA) and Alfie has two brown genes (BB) or one blue gene and one brown gene (AB) because the brown gene is dominant over the blue gene. So since Ottie has blue eyes (AA) she has to have the blue gene from both of you, which means Alfie has a blue gene and a brown gene (AB). So one of Alfie's parents has AB too since he has to have gotten the blue gene from one of them. This way siblings can defenitely have different colour eyes. Green is actually even less common because both brown and blue are dominant over green.

I learned the 8 minute nap in college! It works, but takes a while to master - you want to lay flat on the floor with your feet propped on something (pillows, chair, couch, etc). Set a timer for 10 mins, you'll fall asleep in 2, sleep for 8
