It's hard to explain to the average person why a guy playing guitar for us on TH-cam is so special, but it really is. You're the man, Max. Every post you make is truly appreciated. 🤘🏼❤
While I can’t play along and probably never will be able to😆I understand your comment…my kids went through a phase where if we let them on their tablets, they came straight to TH-cam to watch a video of a kid playing with toys or something similar😂I never understood why they chose that instead of just playing themselves lol
You are the only person on YT playing Tool accurately (as close as possible) and you should be proud man. No one comes this close, tone and nuances particularly. Bravo.
Well shit, guess it’s nice to know I’m at about 95% accuracy on this one. Still glad to see where that last 5% is, and having those pedal settings is beyond helpful as well.
I’ve watched these TOOL videos like 100,000 times for years now and I just can’t stop watching them they are so beautiful! Everything about these songs and the way you play the guitar makes it so much better!
I love watching these videos, it’s like you finally have the keys to play. You make it a breeze, then you get on the gee; it’s a typhoon and still difficult 😂
Epic. I've been listening to this song for near on 30 years. First time I've ever watched someone play it. So much going on, yet so little. Adam Jones is a genius. Excellent cover man. I buy my first guitar tomorrow, Epiphone Les Paul Studio. My younger brother was an avid guitarist and musician and sadly took his own life on September 11. I'm inspired to learn guitar, and in particular TOOL songs, as that was our favourite band. No doubt I'll be watching plenty or your vids. Thanks for showing the way.
this was the first song i tried to learn when i picked up guitar a year and a half ago and you were the first guitar cover channel i started watching religiously
HEY HEY HEY another perfect cover! Thanks dude I cant wait to try it out! I've been learning Tools version of No Quarter it would be cool to see you cover it someday.
I just can't emgine my life without your videos ... They are pure damn gold and so good and special and and (*inhales aggressively*)I'm just happy. Thank you so much
@@MaxNiessl well, that sucks, though I can understand why artists would be against it. Well know that there are tons of peeps out here who appreciate what you do
Hi Max, wow man, I didn’t expect a video that fast! I also think you solved a tone issue I was having at the middle of the song, where you employed both a flanger a a chorus. Thank you very much for this! Cheers
@@MaxNiessl Yeah, it seems I lost track of time, but it still was pretty fast. I'm gonna experiment with BF-2 into a slow Leslie to check the tone at the middle. Maybe the FreqOut could help with the feedbacks for the slow slide/bridge part? Cheers
Absolutely fantastic as always. Your videos and your website have really helped me with learning to play tool songs correctly. Currently I’m learning Vicarious. And this will be next in line. Thank you Max. Brilliant 🤩
Max I feel like Adam should cut you in on some royalties or something because your videos are highlighting his work that is often difficult to clearly make out from the studio recordings. Noticing things I never heard before without that little isolation, it’s amazing! Also your guitar, tone and production quality are sick. Thank you!
Few things, first it's funny how I've been listening to this song because of certain events with a certain company that is now stationed in California, "Flush it away", once again it's like Max can read minds Second, Max starting off my Sunday the right way 😎 And third.... Max making me realize I need to buy more pedals...darn you... 🤣😂 Awesome stuff once again man!!! 🤘🏼
Wow, legendary mate.... loving your channel! New sub - new fan. Massive props to your instructional video playthroughs. I need to get onto creating some of these too. Super impressive!
Well, I know what I'm learning tonight. You're a freaking King, Max. Keep up the amazing work. And if request are a thing, could you do Jimmy? No rush, you do you
Duuuuude thank you so much for this! literally the best channel for learning the best songs on guitar! Not sure if you already plan on it but I would BE SO THANKFUL for a forty six & 2 cover! Youre killing it man thank you
Well, heck yeah! Awesome, very cool, I couldn’t get the timing right but through this visual reference I can totally try it again. Could you perhaps do a “I’m Broken” lesson from Pantera? Great job :D
Hi Max ! Thanks for the amazing work you did with these play along tabs/covers, it made me more in love with TOOL I just discovered last year (boo me). Now I'm trying to learn almost every TOOL songs as a guitarist and I can't get enough of it ! So thank you so much for your work, you are the best at what you do so please keep it up ! Are you going to make a cover for each TOOL song (you haven't done yet)? like : - Third Eye/Third Eye (Salival) (I'm waiting for the perfect cover of these two) - Disposition/Reflection/Triad - Wings for Marie/10,000 Days
Awesome, Lucas! Glad you’re digging my videos and are enjoying to learn the Tool songs. I still don’t know if I want to steal the magic from Reflection by covering it, but the other two definitely! :)
Dude sick playing and a DELICIOUS tone, jesus! *cries in Blackstar Fly 3* xD Your content quality has also increased. Like your multiple camera angles which you've introduced a while ago but I never mentioned it. I also like how at 02:20 your tab sheet slowly moves to the side and the pedals fade in. Its a small thing but its better than having stuff just appear like BAM! Also I am sexually attracted to that guitar and I am not sorry about it 😂 Its today that I realized at 04:10 its not just an up and down pattern. As always, grateful for your contribution as I can't rely on online tabs and your videos have helped me understand things better which makes me a better guitarist everyday. Cheers man! P.s. I am curious, at 04:23 when you do them harmonics, what did you do with your hands? It looked to me as though you were applying pressure on the neck? Is that right?
Thanks bud! Exactly, I’m pushing the neck back on the first one to make the sound higher and push the neck forward on the second to make the sound lower :)
A fine job! I play for a TOOL tribute band, and am extremely picky about perfection. Most people on here trying to teach TOOL talk to much and do not get things right. Your video made it super easy for me to pick up this song. TOOL isn't for beginning guitar players, what you did was perfect for us skilled guys who want to save time. You keep it up!
Another absolutely immaculate cover from the man himself. You're the fucking man Max keep it up! (The only thing that could ever make me respect you more would be a *full Wings For Marie cover* **wink wink**) I always thought Ænema was one of their most underrated tracks, thanks so much for the best guitar cover available of it now on TH-cam.
Just found this channel. Always wanted to learn Tool stuff and with these videos it's definitely a possibility :D. I got a question: At 2:20 (for the Bridge) when he puts on Slide and turns on the effect pedals, does he turn off distortion/overdrive? When I play this (limited in gear, dont have all the pedals) the slide part obviously sounds crunchy. I wonder if you have to turn down OD while the effects are on, or if the effects itself remove the crunchy OD sound for that part. Or it is just because his volume is a bit lower at that part and he plays the notes very quietly? Also, are those 3-4 pedals all individually bought pedals (like BOSS Delay) or are those effects all from a software through the audio interface? Sorry, guitar noob here. Trying to figure out how to get that part right.
Old comment but Adam doesn't use any OD or Dist pedals. He controls all his distortion with the volume knob. The quieter the guitar, the less distortion.
Killer, nailed the slide swells. Now that you got a Gibson you need chewies Seymour Duncan custom wound bridge pickup 🤘🏻. I’m sure you have the info and contact at SD already, but let me know if not 😁
Thanks as always, bud! I sync them while making the tab. It usually takes a day to write the tab with the bpm changes, I review it again a day after with a fresh mind and then record :)
Hi Max, spotless as usual. Aren't you considering do Wings for Marie 1,2? I got possessed, there is none on YT. There are a few parts I am not 100% sure.

Bro missed a few but hell don't we all. Still enjoyed watching.
I've learned so much from your contributions to us. Can't thank you enough.
Glad to hear bud! 🤘🏼
I never knew just how nuanced the guitar is in this song. I usually focus in on Danny Carey's drumming when Ænema is playing. Great job. 👍
A day you upload is a good day. A day you upload Tool is a perfect one
Aww thanks! :)

Gotta get me one of those slidey thingies. Excellent work as always, my good man.
Thanks Max, I appreciate you for showing us how to play this song.
Finally someone playing the intro correctly on guitar! Great video
Ladies and gentlemen, probably the only time Adam Jones has ever used the high E string.
Ehhh I’ll give you 80-90% of tool is bottom four strings, but those top two still get their use
Uses it many times 😜

Very glad to hear that, Jacob! 🤘🏼
