    55:52 I am someone who prefer sub over dub. But in a country like India, dub is much more necessary than sub.
    Because you cannot expect everyone of your audience members to keep up with the subtitles while watching a movie.
    And if the subs are only available in English, that leaves out a big chunk of the audience who are not well versed in English.

    • @lonewolfe2502
      @lonewolfe2502 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Same here. I also prefer sub. But it takes practice to move your eyes that fast and match the dialogue with the scene. 😂 It's way better than watching dub because dub just changes the emotions and dialogues to make film more palatable to the audience who don't know the language or culture. But I watch sub because I want to know about that culture and language.

    • @mtk3755
      @mtk3755 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Same here. Always preferred subbed because the dialogues in original lang just sound so much better and you feel like you are part of the culture the people knowing their story. only if dubbing has been perfect I would choose dubbed. But it takes time getting used to focusing on the visuals and the lines down.

    • @mtk3755
      @mtk3755 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lonewolfe2502 same here it does take practice and getting used to but once you have you would anyday prefer sub. And same for me wanting to listen to dialogues in original lang getting into culture. Plus even though you don't know the lang but the way they say it tells a lot while in dubbing it doesn't. Though in subbed at times translation can not be accurate while if dubbing has been done well it's better for understanding context in your lang also.

    Hey Rick, you are thinking about English speakers when you say watch a movie with subtitles. Most Hindi audiences are not English speakers. For Hindi audiences, say you write subtitles in Hindi. Do you know how hard it is to read Hindi subtitles? Even for a decent speaker & reader like me, it will be very hard to follow. These quirks are peculiar to India and they have to be dubbed into other languages. It is also true the other way. Hindi movies have to be subbed in south indian languages. So the better way is to dub. Hope that helps before we chant out the mantra of watching a movie in the native language with subtitles. Easy for you and easy for me to say that....practically tricky.

    With all due respect - all big time flops I might add. Not sure how Cirkus will fare as it is which is yet to release but Pooja does not fit in this group of actors who did exceptional work this year. KGF's Srinidhi Shetty doesn't fit in this group either, coz what did she really do in KGF that shows her acting prowess?? Wonder on what merit this group was chosen for this roundtable. Where are Kamal Haasan, Rishab Shetty (Kantara), Rakshit Shetty (Charlie 777), Fahadh (Malayankunju, Vikram), Nayanthara (O2, Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal), Mrinal Thakur (Sita Ramam), Lokesh Kanagaraj (Vikram), Maniratnam (PS1), Prashanth Neel (KGF), Kiranraj K (Charlie 777), Hanu Raghavapudi (Sita Ramam), Dhanush (Thruchitrambalam, Naane Varuven, The Gray Man), Prithviraj (Jana Gana Mana, Kaduva) and the list goes on as this year was filled with amazing acting/movies/directing/music. Korbin is always quite professional. Rick's a nice person but to me it's a little impolite not to react to a video when you're a reaction channel. I think many people have mentioned not to be on phones before but it's seems rick doesn't care. Please don't get upset Rick we we like your reactions , just wish you reacted properly even when bored. If you find a video too too boring then say so , that's fine and let korbin react alone

    My useless hot take would be that Hindi cinema got in trouble because of Lagaan, Dil Chahta Hai ans Rang De Basanti. They brought a western sensibility. It worked for a decade but post 2008 West's mystique was broken. We knew we could compete and we became even more staunch on our own sensibilities. That is why Laal Singh Chaddha had zero chance. Indians will never accept a character like Je-nnn-eey. Our tastes are informed by Mahabharatam or Ramayanam whatever religion or region you are from. Self sacrifice is at the core of the sensibility. Unlike the West where the individual is the core

    Though i hv become indifferent to Karan Johar now because of his underlined politics. I won't deny loving almost all his films . The guy is a cinema nerd, he's grown up on films. His dad was a big shot. His best friend is adi Chopra the head honco of Yrf. He know everything there's to be known about films. The commerce, everything. Never forget if it wasn't for him bahubali might not hv become what it became or may not even get made. He's got the most stake in the success of South all over India .But we also can't forget how he apparently runs negative pr campaigns against stars who don't comply his will So , he is a bit of a devil's advocate.

      @@varunchhabra497 I know it's sounds petty but the point was he just told it's Kannada and our man VD immediately did the opposite 😅
      I can understand why many in North say kannad because in their language it's written as such. It's not your fault but reality is it's written wrongly in the first place. It should have never been written like that and it doesn't become right because the mistake has been made for decades. How would you feel if someone says in our language it's written as punjabu so I'm going to call it punjabu only. I have spent many years in Delhi and Jaipur and when I mentioned once or twice that it's kannada, ppl were like "oh really okay". There was no anger from my side, no arrogance from their side. It's pretty chill.
      The reason it's kinda offensive is in Bangalore everyone hears kannad about 20 times a day. After a point it gets on your nerves. Hopefully you understand.
