I am very unfortunate to have a teacher who explains very vaguely, and this video was perfect in helping me with understanding moraines! Thank you so much!
I'm from India, and I'm studying for the civil services exam. One of the subjects I have to study is geography, which I really detested. However, thanks to your videos, I can now understand the concepts fairly well. I sincerely appreciate you providing these videos.
Some Professors have the ability to tap into the psychology/perspective of someone approaching a subject for the first time and can explain things in a simple way that we understand. You have that, and it's not as common as I wish it was. I hope your channel is successful. Thanks for the videos.
You are so welcome! I think a lot of instructors don't realize what common knowledge vs. discipline-specific knowledge is. They have been a geologist (or whatever) for so long they forget what a regular person would and would not know. I try to constantly keep a check on myself so that I don't fall into that trap! Thank you for your kind words. These videos are mostly for my online students but I figured I might as well create a channel and make them public in case they can help someone else. And I think they do so that makes me happy. 🙂
Thank you whole heartedly. Please do not stop teaching because of all the videos out there this video explained morraines so well.I was troubled to hell to understand this specific topic and you did it very well.Thank you ma’am.
Thanks for making this available. It is clear and compact, and I really appreciate the "chalk-and-talk" approach to using diagrams to explain a concept and its variations. Just one question: are recessional moraines the same thing as end moraines (when the end moraines isn't also the terminal moraine? Also, do you have any videos on how kames form?
End moraines are any of the moraines that formed at the end of a glacier. Terminal and recessional are two different types of end moraines. So terminal is the oldest and furthest down valley. Recessional moraines are any of the other younger ones up valley. Hope that helps!
I would've expected the triangular shape piece of rock to be carved up and broken down down by glacial forces. Instead a buildup of moraine deposit occurs. Why does this happen?

I am glad I am here to help!

Are you talking about the triangular rock piece sticking out on the left side of the board?
