I think main reason it's significantly darker is that we know the WWII is gonna happen in few years, but other, than that... like Riza and Roy couldn't get married, neither are they safe from tribunal, if reform happens. Havoc is still healing from paralysis, if ever. Ed's life is still shortened from transmutation on himself. And what would become of Salem, we don't know for sure. And that's only main cast. Not to mention some extra characters like Amy. So, even if numerous bad things are not guaranteed in the ending, it's pretty far from being unrealistic and sugary sweet. Yes, it's just small hints of what can go wrong rather than several extra local genocides in 2003 version, but still life-like enough for me. Don't get me wrong, I love 2003 and Shambala for the separated worlds trope, as well as storyline, created from the scratch at the lack of source-material (as well, as for the cool music and awesome style and extras), but IMHO it was rather cheap to play on "oh, look, it's about our world now, what else".By 2003 year I've seen this kind of approach like 10 times. And personally I prefer when some of fantastic worlds stay as such, being relatable thanks for characters emotional background, rather than plain borrowing from life. So like both. Both are good.
@@deathlydashi it's a little girl from one of the manga extras. Ed and Al went to investigate her story, because her family faithful alchemist claimed to bring her back from dead at cost of his eyesight. I don't want to spoil anything, but that's a bittersweet story and it isn't known if she and her family ever found real peace and happiness. Person above mentioned it was made into OVA
A lot of people care a lot about Winry and Ed not getting together in the end of the orginal series, but thats because the original series sticks more to the main message the relationship of two brothers who care about each other more than anything else.
why? That was the saddest movie I'd ever seen... Both my friend and I were hugging our knees yelling at the TV. This amv had me cry again..... but it's soo good and this is my favorite song....
s'est sur qu'il était bien et que la scène avec Alphonse était triste mais triste ce film? xD regarde "Hotarubi no Mori e" et la tu va vraiment pleurer!
I just started thinking That has anyone ever thought how hard it was for Winry when she saw Ed after years, and then Ed just leaves along with Al? And then she basically just has neither of them in her life. I'd feel awful
This movie made me bawl like a baby when it ended. It was so true to Edward's character that he would sacrifice himself and come back to our world, even if it meant leaving his brother and Winry. I loved that scene where he was lying in bed and he whispered Winry's name in his sleep...bawled like a baby, I tell you.
If you're under 70 today you will live indefinitely. I can't wait to see that day, and then, after immortality, our new impossible goal will be to bring everyone truly and fully back to life. I have a father that is growing old, and I don't know how long I'll have him around. I should really spend as much time with him as I can.
When i watched this movie I cried of sorrow when Ed split the ships wing in half and said he'd stay in the other world, then Al followed and i cried about how happy that moment was. If there's one anime that knows how to make me cry it's FMA such a good anime.
I remember when you could say "I love Fullmetal Alchemist" and that was okay and everyone agreed, but now you can't even mention it without someone saying "But what about Brotherhood, you person of clearly poor taste!" Don't get me wrong, I love Brotherhood, it's fantastic, and everyone is entitled to their own preferance. However I hate it simply because it caused this whole division among the fandom. As awesome as it is, I feel it is unnessicary as having the manga and 2003 FMA is enough.
Watching this almost made me cry cause of the feels...TAT I still love the original no matter what anyone says it's the best it has way more feels than brotherhood
Well now that you mention it, yeah you're right about your first statement. I dot agree with your second one but you're entitled to your own opinion so no harm done. I guess I just like depressing stuff especially when the voice actors have more emotion in it. Brotherhood compared to the first one didn't have enough emotion in the voices if you know what I mean.
Yuki Silver Hmmm yeah I get what you are referring to, but I had the feeling that the intentions of all the bad guys where not as clear or maybe not as good as in brotherhood. Maybe I feel like this because of the lack of backstory provided... But I can understand your opinion, I actually liked the ending of it too. But to only after watching the movie which completes the ending haha But still I liked Brotherhoods ending better, I feel like it made more sense to me, but that's just my opinion. haha a little bit too much 'but' in the last few sentences
I absolutely loved both, and I definitely recommend that you watch the first! There is a bit of a darker mood to parts than Brotherhood but the storyline of the first keeps you hooked just as much:)
I always say that FMA:B is better since it was based off the manga, but I first found FMA when my dad brought home some anime movies (among which was a Cowboy Bebop movie, if I recall correctly). I watched the movie so many times and was enamoured with it. After which, I migrated to the first animated series, and after, the Brotherhood. Even now, Fullmetal Alchemist remains to be my favorite anime series. Thanks, dad!
I personally love the ending in Full Metal Alchemist:) and I just love how the movie goes right along with it and makes an even more awesome ending for the movie:D! Love Full Metal Original all the way!!!!!*charge*!!! plus I just love how depressing the whole series is lol:)
I'll never watch the first anime or this movie ever again. I remember watching it and I was so depressed. It was so emotional.Thank god I watched FMA brotherhood, It was such an amazing journey for me! I watched brotherhood twice since it is my favorite anime but even this amv brought up the sadness I felt after finishing the first anime and the movie. Nevertheless I always recommend people to watch fma before brotherhood so they can experience this journey too. It's sad, but it's so worth it.:)
As someone who`s dealt with actual depression LP and FMA helped me feel like I wasn`t alone. And as someone who watched FMA 2003 and then read The Manga I wanna clear up some confusion. I did NOT hate "Brotherhood",I looked forward to "Brotherhood",watched the premiere in Sub on the Funimation website(Which is unusual for me)and was disappointed by The Series considering the hype as they essentially dumbed down or ommitted altogether the best parts of both 2003 and The Manga! Then, of course the Netflix Film dumbed those elements down even more! And say what you will about "Conqueror of Shamballa"(I have mixed feelings obviously. R.I.P. Wrath,Hohenheim and Izumi:()and I am sorry but that ending is trash, Manga-accurate or no and "Sacred Star of Milos" DID NOT need to be a thing !
Well, to each his own. there is almost no way to have a single show that everyone likes. Perhaps that is why they decided to make brotherhood afterwards, to create a series for manga fans to follow, without destroying the FMA series that many others grew to love
*waiping away tears* God that movie is so sad but so happy at the same time! I watched it after FMA and now I'm well into Brotherhood.... Ed!!! *wails*
Oh my gosh that was perfect. Al looked really epic in some of the clips, so did Ed. All together the video was epicly perfect. No it was not perfect it was so well done that words cannot describe how good the AMV is. That is how amazing you are, thank you for making something like this. I loved it. ^-O
15 years later this AMV is still amazing in my opinion it's a classic. 😉👍
💯
agreed
One of most mesmerizing amv. I watched it 10 years ago, still remember it
same.
I feel like this was much darker than brotherhood and shows you life isn't fair and isn't all peaches and cream
Exactly
I think main reason it's significantly darker is that we know the WWII is gonna happen in few years, but other, than that... like Riza and Roy couldn't get married, neither are they safe from tribunal, if reform happens. Agreed , when they made the OVA the blind alchemist , it had the old FMA vibe

16 years? bloody oath AMV's don't get much older than this!
i cant fucking believe there was an amv in YT in 2006 omg youre a true hero

I'd forgotten how much I loved this movie. God FMA's first adaptation just killed it with the raw emotion.
Nicely done and aptly chosen song.
Hell I remember watching it years ago! Brings tears to my eyes :'''')
3:24 That must be soooo awkward for Alphonse, attending the funeral of an alternate version of himself.
I just started thinking
That has anyone ever thought how hard it was for Winry when she saw Ed after years, and then Ed just leaves along with Al? And then she basically just has neither of them in her life. I'd feel awful
Mire Leikonniemi this is why I like brotherhood ending better
Katy The Kawaii girl Agreed.
Mire Leikonniemi I thought of that too
No you're not. It was one of my first thoughts too, even though I was happy about the brothers' reunion.
No al left on it own ,edward decided to leave to close the gate on other side and then al aparied in the suit of armor
This movie made me bawl like a baby when it ended. It was so true to Edward's character that he would sacrifice himself and come back to our world, even if it meant leaving his brother and Winry. Damn...FMA is so much darker than Brotherhood...
Yeah. FMA:B is more funny and FMA is sooo sad. But i like both. Sorry for my English :)
L Lambdha You sound fine:)
you keep your opinions, but fma brotherhood is better, 1 better ending 2 more gory eg when the first greeds dog chirmera firiend got cut in half
BoxcraftBroz Swarm thats just my view
BoxcraftBroz Swarm I totally agree, don't worry:)
I remember this AMV as I found it about 10 years ago... and now I am glad, I am here again.
so true if everyone cared this would be a way better world
If everyone cared life would be boring and pointless.
Kai Daus
Life is pointless.
No then we would have peace and less people would die
bulletshy pony and derpy hooves No wars? Sounds terrible. Besides, no wars or fights completely bypasses human nature, so not gonna happen.
Idk but its a shame how many of us die a day
16 years later and still this amv hits the same.
This amv is the only reason I like this song
I love both original and brotherhood, MUST CRY :(
I'm with you, I like 'em both :)
+Rohan Roy Chowdhury Same here.
same!!! but i do prefer the ending of brotherhood ..
I've rewatched both of them over 10 times each, its worth it.
I love seeing Al looking so much like his brother when he's like that!!! And Ed went from cute to HANDSOME!!!

Today is Oct 4, 2023: the 20th anniversary of FMA 2003 🖤
hope the creators of fma doesnt stop this master piece
at least al and ad where together in the end, I just wish winry was with them.
Terrific Fullmetal Alchemist music video. I just love how beautifully this turned out. You did a fantastic job putting this FMA music video together.
"Equivalent exchange, I give you half my life for half off yours!" I think this is the most romantic way of saying I love you!
i know right? XD

but I mean you have to admit, the ending was shit compared to brotherhood's
