It was terribly troubling and had a profound effect on my thinking and awareness of reality across the world. That these people feel they must go to this extent to make their statement is soul-wrenching. If someone is not moved by this, there is something wrong with you.

you are correct about the ballistic missile maneuvering being why it’s hard to intercept - but basically any modern guided ballistic missile would fit this category of “difficult to intercept” the arrow is basically the israeli equivalent of the american THAAD system, it’s meant to intercept ballistic missiles while they’re still outside the atmosphere. back during the gulf war there weren’t really any systems that were capable of intercepting these (the patriot was all the had but it was basically incapable of doing so at the time), but nowadays basically only the americans (and nato more broadly) and israelis have the tech to reliably intercept that type of missile. it is however incredibly expensive, costing millions per shot - israel reportedly needed to expend a whole bunch of arrows and iron dome interceptors to get this one, and most if not all of the damage in israel was caused by fallen interceptors.
