It's heartbreaking watching this now knowing exactly what these girls/women went through. It's tainted gymnastics completely. Extra kudos to these ladies for how incredibly strong they are and making their dreams come true amidst the turmoil and hell. And USAG... I hope you have your day in court.
Why did they all say they look up to gymnasts like Alicia, Carly and Nastia but none of them said anything about SHAWN JOHNSON??!?!?!!? she is so under rated and all gymnasts should look up to her
@@ccutehoney Not really. By the time she got to the Olympics she was already a 3x National AA Champion(Once as a Jr, twice as a Senior), a 3x World Champion, and was the American Cup winner one year and Silver the year before AND on top of a lot of the girls featured would have trained alongside Shawn at camp in 2008 or 2010-11, or would have seen her at things like Visas. And especially within the gymnastics community they would have seen the rivalry that was made of Nastia and Shawn for two years, and that is still talked about to this day.
It’s so sick to see McKayla talking about how healthy that sport is. It actually can be but in her particular situation it’s the unhealthiest it can be. I feel so sorry for all these girls with the knowledge we have now about Larry Nassar and so much more. It’s so sad to see.
Lieses Welt if you noticed, she was not looking at the person she was talking to or smiling as she said. It seemed somewhat forced as well as it looked like she was looking off to the side as if someone was standing there listening to her making sure she said the right things.
If we keep speaking about Nassar we can't move past this. Screw him. Let him for in jail. Let these girls get past this without us talking about him every single day. These girls have enough to deal with when moving forward in their lives. Ask them how thier days is going ask them about thier careers something besides Nassar
@@hillarystone7506 All the girls were looking off every now and then. It happens in most interviews. i doubt someone was telling her what to say, she already knew what to say, they all did.
Can you imagine working out for 8 hours a day for a minimum of ten years, going to school, studying, special diets, choreographers, coaches, specialized coaches, traveling, expenses, expenses expenses for 10 years? Not to even mention the medical care and costs in an ATTEMPT in making a national squad, an Olympic team, qualifying for an event final and the almost impossible all around position to compete for a medal? Not every single child is born with a predisposition to that kind of life or lifestyle. Be care when you put your dreams possibly into a child’s mind when they may or may not be an athletically gifted child. No training can make that happen if they are not genetically suited for it.
your comment is valid but not every family and kid is stressed equally by it, the way you suggest. For instance, expenses are likely not an issue in a wealthy family. Noone is in the gym 8 hours a day 7 days a week for 10 years straight, they get at least one or two half days when training up through level 8, as well as a day off on the weekend and a half day workout probably. They don't do school a traditional full day the way others do so it's not as much as a strain in that way; the gymschoolers I watched did 2-3 hours of school a day plus some homework. To me the part that would stretch me would be the mental pressure from coaches and the sternness. I'm self motivated, and when others pressure me it becomes too much, so I agree on that part, disposition. I also think yes genetics has something to do with it but also involved is passion from the heart and the joy the sport brings that naturally propels most of these young women to the top. Another hard part for me would be dealing with physical pain and injuries. The psychological toll of both can be hard to recover from if happening frequently. Again, not trying to discount your post and ideas, just elaborating and fine tuning with more ideas.
That's Mattie Larson, just wearing baggy clothing. Same gymnast that Maroney says she looks up to while standing next to her later in the video. They are both from AOGC which is known for strictly monitoring weight.
I feel so bad for Maroney...man, Larry really got her good. Total manipulation of her young mind. All she wanted was someone to be nice to her and comfort her through these insane training g camps and unfortunately, Larry was just TOO nice. As someone who was abused as a child, I completely understand what happened...the grooming, the happiness that comes with being desired/loved/wanted by anyone. Glad she is OK but she will carry these scars for life.
Pretty sure she was headed towards saying "It's not just a sport, it's a lifestyle" and adding in that it gives a lot back...you suggest she's a moron for not saying a perfect sentence, Al. Not everyone has the world's most shining brain as yours. Maybe try to develop your heart and empathy next?? It will actually make you more whole, as the most evolved intelligence includes these aspects, not just a sharp brain.
They should be able to do both! They aren't football players with plenty of years of potential career, their time in gymnastics is really short and they should be able to get their coin and still compete for whatever college they want to. Idk, it's irked me so much ever since Wieber couldn't be a UCLA athlete.

Makayla talking about Mattie and how much she admires her is so sad knowing what they went through and how Mattie retired to escape the abuse.

Nastia was around for longer, so maybe that's why.
Yea most didn’t really know Shawn she kinda came from left field

Nobody said anything about Dominique Moceanu.
@Mark way before their time; Shawn wasn’t.
Its so sweet seeing Gabby like 'being in this place where Olympian's train' when she's like AA champion now :')
I loved watching this. These girls had no idea how big they’d make it! Gave me goosebumps 🤩
McKayla has to be the prettiest and one of the most well-spoken gymnasts ever!

It's so weird, seeing them sooo young and dreaming about Olmypics... Knowing that they got the Gold!

"gymnastics, its just not a sport.. [stuff]...but yeah, its just an all around amazing sport"-*facepalm*
+Ali Noble I think she meant it's not just a sport as in more than a sport... as opposed to not a sport lol

Yeah, going after a fifteen year-old was a very mature move from you lol
You can just tell that they’re numb to it all during this interview. It’s so sad.
Sabrina went back to training except now she is training at GAGE. She injured her shoulder which will prevent her from training for 4 months.
McKayla is so pretty!!!
omg!!! Gabrielle Dougles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is now a famous gymnist!!!!!!!
so this is where the fierce five started
I agree! Go Gabby!
Bravo!
Awwww Jordyn had braces
4:23 she climbs that rope like nobody's buisness
Mykayla Maroney:
What good fun!
After Larry Nassar scandal:
To hell with them all!
Mckayla so blur and the face is so ...adorable
lol these girls are ripped
This has to be one of saddest things I have ever seen. Poor little girls
I really wish more girls would choose NCAA instead of pro. I love watching them for 4+ more years. Go Vega, Gymdogs!

Like Simone ❤
this is an OLD video!
Why didn't Jordyn say that her biggest international achievement was winning the 2009 American Cup?
Is it me or does Jordyn look really different then she does now?
привет!!!
Its good for your body.......
There all cute
Is Sabrina still competing? I hope so...
