    Just bought one a couple of months ago. Did one gig so far in Aged care place. No experience with amps or setting up guitar pickups. A bit to learn for me. So thanks for the brief tute. I'm not likely to play in a pub, but who knows. Other places like open mikes you plug into their gear. I agree with your natural sound comment. I spent a few thousand dollars on decent guitars (Australian made)Maiton and Cole Clarke to get that real sound, so this amp seems to compliment the guitars well. I was very impressed with the demo at the music store, which is owned and operated by a guy I knew from open mikes. Cheers.

    Good review. I have yet to work out the pedal.

  • @andydepissant

    Finally listened on some good speakers. The IRs, in my experience are basically very detailed mid scoops with select "spikes" of mids retained. So the one you used seems to have more bass. I'm not sure if this is because you have the IR level turned up a little to make up for the loss of volume because of the IRs mid scoop. But I reckon THAT would be where feedback might creep in. You notice when you bring in the Anthem mic the scoop gets to an over the top level so it's basically all bass and treble. I imagine this is because the anthem's mic has an inbuilt eq profile of it's own with a bass roll off and mid scoop. So essentially you're getting a double adjustment.
    That's my guess! I reckon if you turned up the mids on the eq you might get a more reasonable sound. But why bother when you have those other options.

  • @garygohmusic
    @garygohmusic 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The IR sounds better than the Anthem mic, the rhythms sound out of an old school Yamaha keyboard though! They should definitely work with the Beatbuddy guys for their beats.

    • @aaronshortmusic
      @aaronshortmusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In some ways it does but I still feel that the Anthem will work better on a loud stage. I would certainly use the IR with other pickups and for recording. It’s still not exactly like a mic but it certainly gives the impression of a mic and NUX are doing it very well. I agree about the beats, they are decent but it would be great to se more high quality beats added, especially a lot more percussion ones.

    great channel - great review. I have a question if you could. I am going to be venturing out to bistros and some casual spots to start doing jazz - I might want to have a mic for a varied 2nd set of cover tunes. I was looking at the eae d6 58 that you reviewed. It is very expensive but ultimately would do everything that I am interested in - possible singing and multiple instruments. My question is it will be awhile before I can save up for the EAE and I am wondering what the focal quality is on both amps. Like on the NUX did you test the vocals along with the guitar? I have just purchased the optima air pedal by NUX and I love it. So with all that what was your experience between the two amps? I know that they really are vastly different but they are also vastly different in cost. - thank you

  • @juansaez4030
    @juansaez4030 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks Aaron... I have gig with those kind of amps in small terraces and inside restaurants at a low volume.. I just think that in those kinds of revews of testing amps, most of the time, they only speak about the guitar sound. Thanks for your viedeos anyway.

    • @aaronshortmusic
      @aaronshortmusic  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think the guitar amps are the best choice for vocals because of how they are voiced. The PA style amps like the S1, EON Compact and EAE amps are good for guitar and vocals. They also have more headroom in general.

    Hi Aaron. Thanks for the great review. I play about 160 gigs each year..acoustic guitar,vocals and looped beats. I've had the Bose S1 since it was released in Australia. I love the sound of vocals through it but have always hated the guitar through it. My question...do you think the Stage man plugged in and on a stand is as loud as the Bose S1.?
    I've also been using the Nux optical air live for a couple of months. I'm very happy with it. I run a fishman rare earth blend into the Nux and then into a Headway pre if any problem frequencies in a room. Cheers Mark.

    • @aaronshortmusic
      @aaronshortmusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Mark. The NUX is definitely louder when it’s plugged in and not running off the battery. I am not sure if it as loud as the Bose as I have not compared them yet. Your guitar is using the Fishman Rare Earth Blend? I tried one guitar (Yamaha Silent Steel) that sounded bad through the S1 but all of the other guitars sound really good.

    Hey Aaron, great review (as always).
    I really wanted the Bose S1 Pro+ for home & gigs (acoustic + vocals), but now that it finally arrived to my country they want 1000$+ for the unit & 200$ for each transmitter (!), that's a lot of money...
    Ignore for a minute the wireless, do you think this AC80 is a wellworth alternative when it comes to sound quality & amplification power for my guitar and vocals ? (here it costs 600$).
    I just love the sweetnest overall sound of the Bose, the Nux I haven't tried.....
    Should I best save the extra needed & go for the Bose ?
    Thanks a lot,
    K.

    Hi Aaron, I'm undecided between buying this one or the fishman loudbox mini charge. The goal is to play in street parades with a Bouzouki (Fingericking and strumming) and I want the best sound with the highest (portable) volume possible. What would you suggest me?

    • @aaronshortmusic
      @aaronshortmusic  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really like the features on the NUX but it is worth considering that the wattage drops when using battery power. For this reason I would probably suggest the Fishman but you should also check out the JBL EON One Compact as it is louder and the included features may be more useful to you.

    Hi Aaron, very nice demo! I also loved your series on different acoustic guitar pick ups. You write dynamic mic.only. I wonder whether it would also work with a Rode M3 condensor mic. with 9 V battery power (I suppose the main point is that one does not have phantom power?). Or am I missing out on something? Best wishes!

    • @aaronshortmusic
      @aaronshortmusic  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You would need to check that the amp has phantom power. If not then you can always use an external power supply with the mic (or just get a dynamic mic instead).

    • @markusgrebe9378
      @markusgrebe9378 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@aaronshortmusic Thank you for your fast reply! The Rode M3 can be used with phantom power or a 9V block battery in the mic. I did not find anything concerning phantom power for the NuX 80 AC, so I suppose it does not provide any. I just wondered whether the 9V battery power from the M3 would suffice for powering the mic on the NuX 80 AC. I guess will just have to try. I also have a dynamic mic. but the quality is not as good as the M3's. Thanks again.
