Gotta see a video In the Kingdom Where Everything Dies, the Sky Is Mortal! Flo was the best drummer I ever seen! Seeing cryptopsy live a few times was always amazing. My favorite drummer hands down!
i like how i watched this video 3 years ago, liked it, forgot about it and finally just watched, go to clock the like button and realised its already been done. you go, Flo.
Carl Mallany Arcspire are a great band and he's an amazing drummer but you can tell things are quantized in post. It sounds too perfect. Cryptopsy is raw. Plus they've been around for ever and pretty much set the bar for tech death. Flo has not only great speed but also such style.
Ive heard him say in an interview that he doesnt use triggers for practice but he uses them in shows cuz it sounds better. If the guy can play all that in time i dont care if he uses triggers or not.
3:27 O_O That's some kinda fill-in only flo is mad enough to play, I'm pretty sure, that Derek or George won't be able to play this stuff, even I love their playing.
that black and white thing you see above his drum set is what they call a brain, it holds sounds that can be played by either hitting the pads on it or by triggers connected to the base drum. i don't think his brain is connected to an amp right now though cuz you can barely hear his bass in this video.
all joey fans talk about that song or video... but the difference between him and Flo... is the extreme tech... all the song of Cryptopsy is a lot of work playing on drums
Triggers aren't cheating, but I personally think they are an easy way to fix a bad bass drum sound. I understand that they're necessary during shows and stuff where the crowd has to hear the bass drum clearly, but I think death metal drummers should mic their drums better in studio and not just rely on triggers. Triggers are useful, but they are relied on a little too much in terms of drum sound.
Oh, and by saying "noone can play that fast without triggers" I meant that fast keeping the strokes hearable...:) It still requiers technique and muscle development:)
Metal drummers these days should all take note: no triggers or electronic bullshit, just some clunky remo powerstrokes thundering away, even at close to 300 bpm for a few measures! It's a crime that they added all that processing to the drums on the album version and when they play live.
One thing I have noticed, the fastest drummers in black metal use Paiste cymbals, the fastest drummers in death metal I have seen use Sabians, and I think that's kinda neat :3
Dude, I was at the Summer Slaughter Tour a while back, all that dude did was scream. He botched this and Carrionshine bad, REAL bad. I want Lord Worm back damn it!!!
My wrists hurt just watching this! :) Very good and very talented. I'm working on my blast technique with thumb and fingers... I suppose there's no "right" way to do it. Keep it up, man!
I still don't get this "triggers make ye play faster" craic. I mean your leg, foot & ankle movements/technique is what allows you to play fast, not triggers? At the end of the day it's your foot technique that determines the speed of the kick beats regardless of whether you use triggers or not, the trigger clamped on the bass drum isn't going to magically increase your speed!
theres no way he is boring cuz his intensity is non stop and hes always switchin it up. flo is the shit.stick to thinkin joey jordison is a good drummer like most people do. he cant compare.
@mrsalamander sorrow man, but the drums are not the main instrument. There is no main instrument. I am not accustomed to listening to music where the drums prevail over other instruments. I would rather hear something where there is equilibrium.
Always wondered, why, as in 0:57, when he is blasting single strokes very fast, why his shoulders are moving as if they were under immense pressure? He definitely has his arms relaxed
Yeah, but I also wrote: "Oh, and by saying "noone can play that fast without triggers" I meant that fast keeping the strokes hearable...:) It still requiers technique and muscle development:)" :):) One coment higher:)
I disagree, not all people when presented with opportunities and choices act in the same way or even predictable ways. We all value different things, or relatively more or less and sometimes make decisions irrationally. Not all DM drummers would move in a more commercially acceptable direction if given the chance, flo did. Not a bad thing or a good thing, just his choice.
I just watched it. It comes no where near the speed in this song. I am not sure what you are comparing. Of course he is a good drummer, but Flo and him have completely different styles.
Agreed... Triggers make the bassdrum sound mechanic and kickass... I like it also... I even triggerd the bass while recording with my punk/heavy rock band xD My mates warent very happy of that, but I am xD heh...
HEY MEN---- DONT TALK IF YOU DONT KNOW......... WATCH THE VIDEO CALLED "ANNIHILATION BY THE HAND OF GOD" AND LATER YOU TALK.......... JOEY PLAYING IN THIS
The average person listens to Cryptopsy and hears screaming, I hear Flo!
Dude when I hear crytopsy I hear flow over literally everything and I'm a guitarist lol
Flo is the best metal drummer, I just don't know what else to say
..one of the best songs on drums in death metal..
I've always loved the fills he did at 3:26 looks insane
Gotta see a video In the Kingdom Where Everything Dies, the Sky Is Mortal! Flo was the best drummer I ever seen! Seeing cryptopsy live a few times was always amazing. My favorite drummer hands down!

He looks like he fighting off a whole army with his drumsticks. Kung fu drumming for sure.
one of the most interesting death metal songs on drums.
HOLY SHIT!!! this guy defines EXTREME METAL
Flat out wonderful 😋
madness....absolutely...talented....
Awesome video, one of my all-time favorite Cryptopsy songs.
crazy footage, i love this band
My favorite Cryptopsy track
the new record is great, check it out if you haven't already
Flo is the man! HELL YEAH!
Best drummer in my opinion.
When Cryptopsy was still good...
this is what what i called GRAT TECHNIQUE
jesus! towards the end I could swear the video was sped up but then I looked at the people around him moving normal speed and I was all " O___O "
Flo Mounier is to Drumming what Michael Jordan is to Basketball, Kelly Slater is to Surfing and Senna is to F1. The best of all time.
bonac8 can't agree more!
Saw him on "Whisper Supremacy" tour, pretty amazing drummer.....I heard that he was a Mike Portnoy fan (ex-Dream Theater drummer).
bonac8 I think Spencer prewitt from archspire is better, but Flo us a beast for sure

The Jenna Haze of porn. The Hilton of hotels. The lint of pockets lmao yes he is good.
0:09 when the bath salts kick in
lol
guy is so amazing..
one word ... SICK !!!!
Crazy Flo!!
Ive heard him say in an interview that he doesnt use triggers for practice but he uses them in shows cuz it sounds better. If the guy can play all that in time i dont care if he uses triggers or not.
Is it Lord Worm singing? I'm sure it's him.
Awesome drummer otherwise, I'm always amazed when I hear or look at his drum parts.
Best drummer FACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the blasting at 0:57 is sick...
3:27 O_O
That's some kinda fill-in only flo is mad enough to play, I'm pretty sure, that Derek or George won't be able to play this stuff, even I love their playing.
Flo and Dennis the menace are the reason extreme drumming is where it’s at today IMO
flo is the man
FINALLY some other people who know what triggers are. thank you all. hahaha im getting so sick of hearing people say "triggers make you faster"....
holy shit, thats talent
how the hell do you memorize all the notes on the cd, this guys an animal.
Incredible
that black and white thing you see above his drum set is what they call a brain, it holds sounds that can be played by either hitting the pads on it or by triggers connected to the base drum. i don't think his brain is connected to an amp right now though cuz you can barely hear his bass in this video.
the comments on videos like this crack me up!! I want this man to have my little drummer babies!!
this drum is so fucking insane!!!
this is the only version of this song i have with lord worm lmfao
all joey fans talk about that song or video... but the difference between him and Flo... is the extreme tech... all the song of Cryptopsy is a lot of work playing on drums
Holy shit, this is beyond the understanding of man !
Flo rules

The more videos I watch of him, the more I am thinking Shannon Lucas is worthy to mention with those names as well.
Oh, and by saying "noone can play that fast without triggers" I meant that fast keeping the strokes hearable...:) It still requiers technique and muscle development:)

Lol I still about how lars has been drumming for almost 30 years and he still plays like the first day he touched drumsticks..
Holy shit, never saw that coming
french canadian. though he spent some time in chicago during his childhood then moved back to canada.
One thing I have noticed, the fastest drummers in black metal use Paiste cymbals, the fastest drummers in death metal I have seen use Sabians, and I think that's kinda neat :3
WoW!!
Hell ya, infact it looked as if he also did it at :17. Couldn't tell, he was goin' to fast, Flo rules.
At about 1:00
I thought those were gravity blasts because they were so fucking fast.
But it looks like he just blasts that fast O.o
Flo owns! a fuking machine
Dude, I was at the Summer Slaughter Tour a while back, all that dude did was scream. He botched this and Carrionshine bad, REAL bad. I want Lord Worm back damn it!!!
this song is intense on the drums.. holy lol...
exactly.. triggers just record what you play... they just make bass more dynamic in extreme speeds
yeah its a regular blast. just fast as fuck!
My wrists hurt just watching this! :)
Very good and very talented. I'm working on my blast technique with thumb and fingers... I suppose there's no "right" way to do it. Keep it up, man!
ben voyons donc...lolll. Trop malade !!!
his snare already does
very nice sick drumming

seriously, this man has to be on steroids or meth to keep up that pace... it's plain unrealistic what he does. Amazing
is that lord worm I hear? I love lord worm doing "mid" cryptopsy.
A real rarity: Lord Worm and Jon Levasseur together in the band during the 2000s.
maybe is drumming but if you connect a mic to the snare that make the trigger a little cheat
Holy shiiiiiiiiit
Cold hate, warm f-in blood!

I'm VERY late to this but I think it's just a part of his technique he developed, maybe to keep time or something.
@Premdus
I wrote that to discusion what drummer is best :)
*CRY*
so...good...*vomits in amazement*
:S Damn...w/e there are a few good songs on The unspoken king, but definately their older stuff is much better.
Yeah, but I also wrote:
"Oh, and by saying "noone can play that fast without triggers" I meant that fast keeping the strokes hearable...:) It still requiers technique and muscle development:)"
:):) One coment higher:)
he say "if you dont use triggers you cant play..."
check the video of the clinic

Ur in luck cuz in Once Was Not, Flo overshadows EVERYONE
I just watched it. It comes no where near the speed in this song. I am not sure what you are comparing. Of course he is a good drummer, but Flo and him have completely different styles.
KriegReptileMaster what song are you talking about
what china is that on his far right, its awesome
He uses triggers on the kickdrums, that's all.
No this is from the "DiSalvo" Days.
😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳
I think he moves so much to count his shit.
None more vile, nor technical!!!
Agreed... Triggers make the bassdrum sound mechanic and kickass... I like it also... I even triggerd the bass while recording with my punk/heavy rock band xD My mates warent very happy of that, but I am xD heh...
