This is basically what happens when you have to talk to your girlfriend's girlfriend's boyfriend.
We are the same
girlfriend's girlfriend's boyfriend's gay roommate they can't stand.
@@tinytanks I actually like lovvett. I think he's funny and does a great show. He comes off a bit differently on David's show.
(leans into mic) LUTHER VANDROSS
45:08 "Do you like me?" is sending me LMAO
Loving how surprisingly tense this conversation is
Cross was actually quite a dick to his guest. I didnt enjoy this one!!
@@SteveStGermainagreed
So tense. Neither of them did their HW. Cross should have at least known who his guest was, and Lovett should have been more prepared for absurdity.
Came here to say, as a fan of both, it was hard to listen to but quite possibly my favorite episode.
I do think the more David gets to know Jon he'll actually feel a little bad about it.
@@frankb5728 it felt like they were both trying their best to keep it light since they knew it was being recorded, but the whole thing is filled with both of them taking subtle pot shots at each other.
It all seemed to start when Jon says David was being passive aggressive to Emily and David took offense.
My favorite part is when David is sort of mockingly going through the book and Jon keeps thanking him for his legitimately honest kind gesture.
I do think there's animosity here, but they did a decent job of keeping it entertaining.
Can we get these two in a production of 'The Odd Couple' ASAP?
One of the best episodes so far. Would love to see you guys do a re-run since so much has happened.
I'm a little stoned and I thought wow Jon Lovitz has had a little work done (and that's okay)
David subtly pointing out shoes on the furniture...
Just Davids general bullshit allergy
MY WORLDS ARE BEING SPAGHETTIFIED THROUGH THE BLACK HOLE OF THE INTERNET
Ahhh, before the first debate... Simpler times
I know, I would like to see them have the same conversation a month or so later
The whole shoe conversation had me laughing so damn hard
This is the best example I’ve seen of the difference between Gen X and Millennials
The best example of made up generational categories that don't mean anything and don't even track with the thing you are referencing? Yeah, sure.
Chicken pot, chicken pot, chicken pot pie.
Only funny because of your awesome delivery!
Thanks for years of entertainment!
I was feeling depressed and this cheer me the fuck up. Lol.
I keep thinking about the kid Vince Staples brought up on stage at Lollapalooza
How come
John!!!!!! He just did survivor!!!!
"Have you ever thought of buying two shoes?" Lovett asking the tough questions
most interesting and funny one yet
"I'll take the shoe!"
Oh no no no lol…. It’s *Jon Lovett. But YES, such a great combo
So unhinged. Love it.
HE WASN'T GOING TO MENTION KARS 4 KIDS I KNOW IT
Great ep, Jon really brought me around to becoming not a fan of his
Lovett always with the shoes on the furniture - yeesh.
It’s amazing how fast Cross talks about himself and then loses track and then remembers the other story he wanted to tell about himself
So you missed the episode where he explained that the podcast is him talking to his friends. There are no focal topics. The people who are watching want to hear his stories about himself. Are you ok?
@@davidlee4903Aren't all our stories about ourselves? I mean, do you know any stories about other people?
@@MatthewFortmeyer-rr9tv Yes. Every story you have ever heard that wasn't about yourself is about someone else.
How hard do you suck Trump?
OK, but whzt about me? Where do I come in? @davidlee4903

Lots of cool comments going on already.
wow this changed my view of Cross and not in a good way.
Plant succulents in the spare shoes and sell them to for the price of the extra pair. Cross earth trainers!
"so Jon... Lovett..." Why does this open like a dad about to give "the facts of life" talk?
hilarious seeing this guy talk about "doctored photos of biden" that make him look too old. buddy, are you in for a treat in that debate you're about to watch...
God, how sorry your life must be to cheer this kinda political minutiae on. Great jab!
Watch his reaction to the Biden situation in the last few weeks, he doesn't hold back. He's extremely honest.
That's why they call it fuckin' with you.
you didn’t do interrupting giraffe
This is a great conversation that shows the difference between someone who knows what's up and makes his money via commenting on human nature and examining people vs. a guy who knows what's up but is forever damaged by wallowing in political discourse and being shaped by DC brain. I truly love both of these human beings, but being far too close to politics over the past 8 years has damaged those who make their money commenting on it.
Field mouse brown
All kind of moot points now.
Jon Lovett is a national treasure. David Cross is alright too. But this interview, this could have been avoided lmao.
I am so conflicted. Was this bad or a masterpiece of a podcast.
Nevermind, just bad. What a roller coaster.
Nah, this was SO ENJOYABLE to watch. Delightfully tense. I was literally kicking my legs in anxious fascination lmao
Why does lovett refuse to comb his hair
@@samuelnolan756 he is an agent of evil. evil does not recognize combs!!!

I wish this wasn't dated. But so glassy to see PSA on here. Been listening to them since the beginning and they keep me sane.
I put off this one initially, because I think the simplistic liberalism of the Pod Save America Obama boys is horseshit, but it was fun to see David fuck with Lovett in an anarchistic way.
It's really hard to walk away from this podcast disliking Jon Lovett.
It’s actually incredibly easy
Honestly, I don't see David Cross being a great fit for PSA - but would be fantastic for LoLI (Jon's show)
(at the end - Lovett is a math person, so this was fantastic)
Thank you for calling out Lovett for what he is. He pretends to care but he just wants to make money.
got him
lol pod jon rattles off an hour of establishment dem talking points and then speaks at one wpm trying to articulate his own thoughts (for once) on Palestine and then gets mad like he's the first person to actually think about it. for the next unfunny political loser get nate silver. At least you can talk baseball and poker
You're clearly not paying attention. That would be PSW
This dude put his shoed feet on a stranger's couch
Expected respectful tone towards guests....
Ugh... shoes on the chair.. disgusting
jesus! who is this guy?, like the penguin would say: "why so serious?"
Is there any worst than comedians trying to preach about politics? Including both left and right in that. Jesus
John could have clapped back at David when he referenced Arrested Development. I would have said something like "oh yeah, I remember when people used to hire you" Lots of opportunities to point out Cross's failed career as an comedic actor because no one liked working with him and has alienated everyone he's ever worked with.
?? he probably didn't even know david cross outside of 'comedian' and 'podcast,' usually most of these guys just have managers that setup interviews. annnd cross has been working with the same people for most of his career, he just never branched out.
@@tabv_vOh he definitely knew who David Cross was. You can say a lot of things about Jon Lovett, but he's a major comedy nerd.
Boring
A world of shit has has happened since this was recorded.
No joke. And even more since your comment.
Like what?
Listening to this on 9/7/24 is like listening to something from the 90's ... the 1890's, amirite?
A pod Jon made it on before Sam Seder?!
This is so awkward....but funny.
We’ll edit out all the pauses 😂
The 30 year tradition of watching David Cross be selectively obstinate to people who are trying to play along continues!!
lol I feel you and I’ve known people like this, but I think the world needs them
This episode holds up pretty well given all that has happend since.
What happened?
Which episode were they talking about how some people think David is a dick because of how he interacts with people?
I can't remember. But this is why some people think David is a dick because of how he interacts with people.
What happened to Jon Lovitz and why is he so rude to David Cross?
At first I was like "They spelled.Jon Lovitz name wrong".
That would have been a very different episode.
@@RabbiPorkchop I’d actually love it. He was entertaining on Burr’s pod. And he’s such a pro-Israel/Netanyahu lunatic that David could call him out on his BS. Would love to see that happen. They’d be able to play off each other, comedically, for hours. Even if David is much more talented, Lovitz can obv hold his own.
how does jon think that david was serious a 1:07 when he asked which jon he is ? david was definitely just being silly.. the fact he plugs himself after plugging him is just pure amazingness
Lol Dave fucking with a new person is great 😂
Where's his large band?
I love how the biggest laugh that Jon got from David is his jab at the end:
1:10:15 “Wow, what a life you've led. Wow, for someone with this personality, you've done so well. It's really amazing. What a country, what a country!”
That’s when I knew there weren’t going to be any hard feelings between these two geniuses after this tense, rollercoaster of an episode. 😂
What the fuck? My pods are crossing
I'm so here for the shoe talk
"Do you like me?"
"Yes.....On a scale of 1 - 10?"
LMAO
Thank you for entertaining us with your barely contained contempt. It is far better than he deserves lol
wrong, or did you mean on jon's side?
These two are pretty funny together 😂
The tension was incredible
i cannot w cross interrupting lovett with a list of queens and the genuine 'do you like me?', its perfect.
Can’t wait for the Robby Hoffman ep! She is hilarious. ❤
Jon doesn't get enough credit for understanding the dynamic here.
I've been watching his coverage of the Biden debate fallout and the guy's pretty hilarious.
I really enjoy David Cross and this podcast. I'm also a huge fan of Jon Lovett. BUT oooppphhhhh! This episode was awkward, tense, and unwatchable. @Official David Cross, maybe have only guests you know.
You’ve been Cross’d m’man!
I love the sudden transition from hardcore politics to shoe ethics. Hoping David will be on Lovett or Leave it soon!
got lucky and the news quieted down between the recording and release of this show.
Lovett or Leave It! ❤
So like… Hey what are we doing here?
No no no... It's- hey, what are WE doing here?
@@depressedtv hmm I dont think thats quite it
I though Jon would be better at "yes and"
He is. They're riffing (perhaps leaning into a bit of animosity to accentuate the comedy).
@@bobsonnymassive cope
I lost it when David just starts naming gay icons.
I think it’s great seeing someone take off the kid gloves and stop treating Lovett like he’s god’s gift to the universe. Also, Luther Vandross is a gay icon in the Black community, Jonathan!
Timely as usual
I am genuinely surprised by how low the like count on this is. This is beautiful to me.
I think it’s great seeing someone take off the kid gloves and stop treating Lovett like he’s god’s gift to the universe.
Love the podcast concept, just be a prick to each other the whole time!
There's no way there wasn't a misunderstanding and he was thought to be Jon Lovitz
So this is what only one Jon Lovitz is like
Vyvanse fast talk alert “I was hearing you but not listening” 27:33 😂 The downsides to your mind racing and you’re just waiting till the conversation lets you get back to speed talking again
so frustrating to talk to someone who does this. It's like, hello, I'm not a prop for your stage monologue!
Like everyone, I was expecting Jon Lovitz
Most people have one foot that's bigger than the other.
Highly entertaining- kinda like Jon now
great chemistry…
This is extraordinary.
What a complicated shoe story!😂💔
"It just doesn't matter"-Meatballs
These guys are both interested in comedy and joke writing, and it’s too bad they didn’t find that common interest during this interview
What an awesome book that’s already been written before, written and developed by interns who aren’t paid a living wage
Comes in shoes on the chair really??
Funny time to release this episode
David definitely thought he was booking Jon Lovitz. I’m usally a Lovett guy, but in this case I’ll Leave it.
Excuse me, is it cultural appropriation for a gay to sit so bisexually? Because I honestly feel a bit manipulated and borderline betrayed.
