Warning for a tldr but here you go xD I think this is the episode where everyone sees how good this series can be and how the writers took the trope of “underdog wants to help save people” and instead of it actually working things just hit the fan instead. And realistically if you encourage a kid who wants to be useful so much, to pursue her hobby of making bombs and that one day they will work…of course she will take that to heart and try to use those bombs to help. Even if you say don’t come. Only she is a kid and her kid brain won’t account for what actually might happen if things go wrong. So it’s sadly more realistic it goes bad then it goes good and she gets a hero moment. Same with Vi. She’s a teen who wants better, so she didn’t listen to Vander either when she was told not to go topside, but she also had not bad intentions there. You’re right that hitting her sis wasn’t great but she’s also a devastated teen who did just see her whole family die (accidentally) at the hands of her lil’ sis. Emotions are already high and I think they just burst out here. I think this is a case of both girls are right and wrong here and it’s so easy to take a side and blame the other but emotions in a nasty situation often make you not think clearly in the moment. So yes while in general I feel kinda protective of Powder due to how young she is and that her intentions were pure, I feel like Vi needs some grace here too. She is also still young and also can’t think as rationally as a fully realized adult yet. Still a beautifully tragic episode and I’m glad you’re enjoying it.
there was a few parts of the episode that make me feel emotions and rooting for powder! this is indeed about to be a really good series! excited to continue the journey. Hope yall join me along the way!
