    I bought my C-9 back in 1982 after reading the Audio magazine article which included one of those floppy 33 1/3 records which had a demo of the sonic hologram effect. Since then, I've acquired 2 C-1s, a CT-7 and a C-4000 through e-bay. Sold on sonic hologram and never looked back.

    And then Bob came out with the formidable TFM-75 that's exceptionally rare today. Probably his best amplifier with 750wpc rms @ 8 ohms.

    anyone notice the Yamaha A-960? Yamaha got sued for using this power supply design in that amp, they were redesigned without Bobs power supply design.

    First started watching MTV around this time. 82 is when the magic started to begin. Carver looks like the quintessential car salesman of the time.

      He does give off that aura, but unlike a car salesman, his products are the real deal.

    I had a C-9 back in the day. My first two setups were not impressive and pretty much forgettable. My third setup was unbelievable! Soundstage was beyond corners of the room! Satisfying in every way and great for all music genres.

      what was the secret? Why did the 3rd system get so much better?

    • @kenishida7146
      @kenishida7146 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@a3marketing991The room was symmetrical, 16ft by 16ft; speakers about 4ft apart, 3 ft in front of speaker wall and 5 ft off the floor (tweeter and mid); listener down the center line and 3 ft from the back wall. Previous rooms were symmetrical, but side walls had door ways, windows, furniture, etc that somehow lessened the effect. Good luck!

    Subsonic filters are omitted on modern Recievers despite the huge surge in vinyl playback. When you have a full range vinyl sourced system , this button is indispensable. They can make all these modern phono amp included products, but can’t install a simple subsonic filter.

    Classic Bob Carver 1982......not 2022.......and yes he had hair back then unlike today........I first saw him in 1975 at Speakerlab and after that got what you could see on a shelf in the background the Phase Linear 4000 pre-amp and got several other Carver products at that Lynwood store like the first pair of Carver ALS speakers (which I still have) and I used to go to the building where they were built and got free crossovers and the newer one piece ribbons after I blew them up with my Carver Cube and 1.5t amp along with the original C-9 and FM turner and the vacuum tube output CD player.......problem with the CD player is the cheap running rubber bands that easily wore out and snapped........I replaced the Phase Linear pre-amp with the Carver C-19 vacuum tube version......of course with things this old you tend to have to do repairs/updates like new capacitors that work better.

    Years ago, I had C9 Holographic generator. It made the sound shift to one side. Wasn't thrilled with it. I now have a Hughes AK 100 which is more flexible and helps bring the sound to life.

      I also had a Carver sonic holographic generator. Carver did the sonic holography with electronics and Polk (Polk Speakers) did it mechanically by sending a wire from each speaker to the other.

      I bought my Carver c4000 preamplifier in February of 1980 I think it was. Very few people are able to set it up correctly cuz he is very few people designed their speakers with Bob Carver's advice and very few people even fewer people have their room treatments set up properly or have a symmetrical room. Even the store salesman who was a friend of mine admitted that he never heard a Sonic holography set up work properly in the store. My setup was the first one that he heard that actually worked and it's really amazing because it provides almost 360° sound field with some types of program material in addition to reproducing the Sound Stage of an orchestra with great accuracy. I still use the c4000 today because there is nothing else I've found out there that can match it. My only complaint with the c4000 is that the switches become intermittent and you have a channel drop out here and there. I've overhauled mine a couple of times but those switches, damn they are nasty..

    Not so fast Bob. Our binaural midbrain processing response (sub thalamic) to secondary contralateral traveling waveforms from ascending neural fibers (under influence of efferent fibers) calculating time differences and head shadow effect coefficients, deriving directionality values before any cancelation occurs. That’s why so many individuals who are deaf in one ear get hit by cars when crossing the street.

    But can we really trust this guy? I wouldnt! I suspect if any journalists at the time from stereophie to absolut sound were ever present they would had found Carvers behavior to be a bit over the top or just down right silly? I dont think any one representing Luxman or nad would do that..
