    This looks so familiar! When I was a child in the early seventies, my family lived on Murphy Dome for 3 years in the civilian apartment building - my father was an FAA technician who worked in the tower while it was still an active AF Station. The dozen or so Dome kids were bused to school in Fairbanks. The snow would completely cover the building’s roof & we would have ice caves form outside the windows due to the heat inside. There were strict rules for notifications when traveling on or off the Dome, so that a “rescue party” could be sent out if your vehicle (or the school bus) got stuck somewhere along the road & we had to be prepared for the road to be closed for extended periods, trapping us either on the Dome or down in Fairbanks (both happened more than once, as did the bus getting stuck). We lived above the clouds!
