Leadership Matters with Don Avery

Don Avery has served as president and CEO of Fairview Park Hospital since 2008 and is responsible for the management and operations of the 190-bed facility. During his tenure, the hospital has earned numerous credentials and accreditations for safety and quality outcomes and has successfully recruited new physicians to the community to ensure better access to care. Before serving in this role, Avery held CEO positions at two Columbus hospitals and was the vice president of South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. He has been with HCA Healthcare since 2003.

We are heartbroken to announce that Fairview Park Hospital CEO, Don Avery, passed away unexpectedly. For 17 years, Don led our hospital with passion and a personality that was bigger than life. The Fairview Park Hospital team was his family. Dublin was his home.
While we mourn the loss of our leader and grieve the sting of the memories of just yesterday, we look upward knowing He is resting where his heart longed to be, with his Savior and with his Meredith.
He’s now flying higher than any plane could ever help him soar. While we miss him and cry countless tears, we look forward to the day we will see him again. Until then, we will carry on his mission in loving people and leaving people better than you found them.
