I absolutely love this, I bought a dulcimer after seeing this, it's so simple and pretty you are amazing very clear and beautiful! Love Joni Mitchell, thank you so much for inspiring me you are a life saver and a kindred spirit!!!!
I know this may be a long shot but does anybody have any tips on the strumming pattern? I’m having trouble getting it down and my brain can’t remember it without writing it down or visualizing it somehow
Hi!! I'm a guitarist I really wanna learn this song. I've only just realised that Joni plays it on a Dulcimer but I had no idea they existed until I saw this video😂 Is it worth getting one? I don't know how much you can do on them but I am a songwriter so I would use it if you can do lots with it. Thanks and I love your cover :))
Hey! I'm going to get a dulcimer and start with your videos to teach myself. Is yours 3 string? Would a 4 string work the same or would I not be able to follow along as easily?
Hey, thanks for the video. I was inspired by watching a Brandi Carlile Band cover of this song in a live stream she did around a campfire in early July, (her guitarist Phil covered and played the part) and went out to find a used dulcimer so I could learn, and found your video, which is awesome, as is your performance in your other vid. Do you use a different set of strings for this tuning? When I tune to match yours, my strings seem pretty sloppy on my late 90's FolkCraft MD. Thanks!
Not for beginners! I went to Joni Mitchell.com for most of the tablature. You have to know your dulcimer frets forward and backwards to follow along with this video. Thanks at least for listing the string notes but those are very clear on the JM site. You're a talented player and much admired for your ability as a performer and you attempt to teach others less fortunate.
I have a very dear-to-me Jim Fyhrie mountain dulcimer that he built for me in the 1980's that has been packed away during a long, fraught house renovation. I think it's time for new strings and a dust-off!
You are such a clear, gifted teacher and your performance of Joni's song is lovely. Thank you for posting this video.

Four string dulcimers have two melody strings, tuned to the same note, while three string dulcimers have one. they are played the same way

Has anyone ever made a list of all the songs Joni played on dulcimer?
there are only four, all from her album Blue: All I Want, Carey, California, and A Case Of You
This is great but the tuning is all strings at g# the graphic is incorrect
