I missed them too, as I am about the same age as you sir. But I’m totally loving this band as your are! Totally fun. High energy. Good songwriting. Dynamics as well!
I think you’d really enjoy the songs Pieces or With Me where Deryck is actually singing. I’m actually surprised he can so easily go from shouty punk anthems to softer ballads
Appreciate you doin' this! A lot of professionals tend to frown on this genre of music but I love it! A few modern musicians are creating music in this style again, totally dig it
Once again, I’ve said this before and I’ll say this again. I wish you were my music teacher. The diversity in music that you show is amazing, when a kid comes to you they feel comfortable showing you their musical influences and don’t feel insecure.
So glad I found your channel, rediscovering so much music and geeting a fresh opinion from someone who respects the source material enough to praise and critise it where needed.
Personally, I own all Sum 41 albums and your completely right on the first 2 albums they do not want to be original with the album. It changes dramatically on "Does this look infected" and "Chuck" when I think they started there own journey of being "SUM 41". With a lot of creativity in the albums and some really cool original sounds and not that much mainstream tunes. Give them a listen I love them and smashing my guitar strings to their more heavy tunes. By the way your channel is really cool :D Keep it up!
Love Sum 41, them along with like Blink and Simple Plan defined my summers growing up :) You should do some Protest The Hero, such a great prog post-hardcore/mathcore band. Their vocalist Rody has some of the craziest range along with just insane instrumentals. Or Ciodos, something off their Bone Palace Ballet album like Lexington. They're another post-hardcore style band that implements a lot of keys. Craig Owens the vocalist did a project with Jonny Craig who was a vocalist in Dance Gavin Dance before Tilian.
Sum 41 recently announced they would be disbanding after their next album release. Wow what a journey....been listening to this band ever since finding their cd on the side of the road as a kid.
Love how clear your passion for music is in these, best reactions by far! Would be awesome to see you react to "Clean my wounds" by corrosion of conformity or "On the run" by the vintage caravan, great bands that have a really individual sound.
i heard somewhere that a lot of the guitars used as props where they're getting broken or damaged in some way in shows and videos had some sort of production defect and couldn't be sold
i remember zac from shinedown saying he contacted PRS for a broken guitar they could use in a video because it was going to get wet so i imagine something similar happened here. though in zacs case the guitar turned out to be fine and they were frantically drying it out between takes so he could use it live lol
The music video is definitely irrelevant to the song itself but it’s an homage to the movie Back To School starring Rodney Dangerfield. In the movie, the dude with the mirror and missile helmet is played by Robert Downey Jr
The evolution of this band is amazing! (The singing fursure ;) Still Kick'n it too, and their sound is so good Can't wait for their next one Should react to the whole album of "Screaming Bloody Murder" It's a phenomenal piece of work and really shows how they own their sound... Other band may sound like them, but Sum41 does it soooo much better And "No, they are NOT like Green Day so you're not allowed to compare them" lol Derek (The lead singer of Sum41) has done acoustic versions where it's him singing live, so you can really see how far he's come, even through all his struggles I would suggest reacting to the originals 1st though because they are just as good All their videos are pretty amazing and original (lol, they get sued for copyright A LOT) but the intro to "Still Waiting" gets me rolling every time I watch it SOOOO GEUWD!!!
I've said it before and I am a stubborn rat so I will request Dreamshade again. Their song "Dreamers Don't Sleep" is an expert showcase of their skills
Hi David! I'm new here, and I was wondering if you could check Snowblood by Erra. I'm really interested on your thoughts, and I love how you can appreciate every aspect of a song. Keep up the good work!
I dont know if someone has asked but could you please do the song "In Between" by the band Beartooth they are in my top 5 and I think you would enjoy the amazing melodies involved with the lead vocalist Caleb Shomo's singing and screaming!!😊😊
hey David, you should react to Halo by STARSET! really interesting production on that song (and from that band, in general). they describe themselves as "cinematic rock."
If you want an idea of how they've come along over the years I think rocksound put it best "they evolved from a global phenomenon to a pretty decent rock band, and it works". Probably one of my favorite bands from my childhood.
"Pieces" is a good showing of his vocal skill where he just sings. It's one of the more clean songs they've done.
My band played a show with Sum 41, back in 2012. Was one of the greatest experiences of my life.
I missed them too, as I am about the same age as you sir. But I’m totally loving this band as your are! Totally fun. High energy. Good songwriting. Dynamics as well!
Brings back alot of memories
I think you’d really enjoy the songs Pieces or With Me where Deryck is actually singing. I’m actually surprised he can so easily go from shouty punk anthems to softer ballads
More Sum 41 please. Still Waiting is a great track and has some real meaning that is just as true today as it was 20+ years ago.
Still Waiting is a BANGER!!!! Love it! The intro is HILARIOUS!
Appreciate you doin' this! A lot of professionals tend to frown on this genre of music but I love it! A few modern musicians are creating music in this style again, totally dig it
You should hear how he sounds now on songs like "Never There". Pretty remarkable how much he's developed his vocals.
Nostalgia, pure nostalgia. Good reaction David, as always

Man I grew up listening to sum 41, simple plan, blink 182, Billy talent, so on. Loved this video. Miss jamming to punk, and pop punk
Fatlip is just as fun as this one... i'm just saying...
oh YESSS please react to this it's such a good song, very nostalgic for so many people of all ages
"Fatlip" is my favorite. You GOTTA do it. One of my favorites guitar riffs ever. 😭

I actually didn't expected this video but it's great! If you want, you can react to 'We're all to blame' by them, it's one of my fav sum 41 songs. :)
We're all to blame is an amazing song! I would also recommend Pieces and 88
@@renaissent 88 is also amazing and pretty underrated in my opinion. and pieces is so beautiful but sad...
@@0.hellothere.0 as a drummer, 88 and We're all to blame are normally my warmup songs and I enjoy it more every time
I think we´re all to blame is my absolute number one song of SUM41.
@@0.hellothere.0 I'm also wanted to recommend 88, amazing song
I dive I lived in AZ for along time cliff diving was our main activity on the weekends up in sedona
We need your reaction to Fatlip as well!!! Sum 41 is the best band I've seen live
Wasn't expecting Sum 41, prolly my favourite band when I was a kid. All my friends were on the Blink camp tho
This is one of the best music videos ever. Sum 41 was so much fun.
Everything here screams early 2000s and i love it. Actually super happy i was a teen during this time. 2000-2010 best time to be alive change my mind.
This is why you NEED to watch The Hell Song (live from studio Mr. Biz)!
Omg PLEASE DO MORE SUM 41
Still gotta do CLUTCH.....hell ofa band! Spacegrass, Electric Worry, Willie Nelson, the Regulator!
Great times and memories ☺️🤣

We're All To Blame is one of my favorite songs by Sum 41

It will be interesting to see you reaction to Sum 41’s newer music. They have a really heavy metal sound now and they are really good at it!
If you’d like to see Sum 41 at their peak I’d recommend their song A Death in the Family
This song definitely gives off the blink vibes. Extremely catchy
Periphery - the way the news goes
August Burns Red - majoring in minors
Veil of maya - outsider
Loved them as a kid still love them as a grown ass man hahahhaha
In 2001, while David was touring the world, I was being a loser elementary school child
Lolololol
Its about time for a new Dirty Loop reaction! 😃 👍
Highly recommend doing the song "pieces" from sum41
Editor's comments are what I live for.
i heard somewhere that a lot of the guitars used as props where they're getting broken or damaged in some way in shows and videos had some sort of production defect and couldn't be sold
Honestly sum 41 is one of the few bands that got better with time
you're a funny guy. really enjoy your reactions.
Check out Sum 41 - Pieces next!! it's a melancholic song but it's awesome 🤘
The arm farts and whole video really are a shout out to Rodney Dangerfield in Back to School.
I loved that movie as a kid!
@@MusicShed Great movie!
Is it wrong that I actually remember the EXACT scene when this song is playing in AP 2? Havent watched that movie in over a decade

Fat Lip and War are both great songs by these guys :P

i think my dream concert/music festival would be sum 41 at warped tour. rip to warped, i miss that shit. also he TOTALLY looks like ralph macchio
They played Warped a few years ago. It was a good time.
Me and the husband walked out to this after our wedding... His grandparents weren't impressed 😂
Would love to see you react to "still waiting" by Sum 41 too!

Hes grown quite a bit as a vocalist since then. I'd recommend checking out some newer stuff.
Oh he did a song with Linkin Park for Chesters memorial concert and, my god, he can sing but until I saw that I thought he had a good punk/pop voice
they have the best music videos lmao
David, you need to react to Sum 41 - Hell Song. It is so fun and has American Pie vibes.

The Dark Sentencer by Coheed and Cambria.
