Can't find the Bench Dog cast iron top .
Rockler has one for a table saw but didn't see just the top.

Good talk. I have a home made table that is 35+ YO. I recently bought a Skil because I needed a better table for a project and it was available locally. But I was very disappointed. It is a PITA for mounting the router, which is performed from below with an awkward clamp. I am wondering if I can use the old, aluminum plate from my home made table with the Skil. I need to look into that. One thing I do like about the Skil table is it is small and light and that goes well with my overcrowded, garage shop. I can mount it on top of my table saw for easy use: that gives it some extra height over the saw and my old back loves that. And with it's folding legs, I can store it in a minimum space.
Thanks for the mention of the leveling screws. If I do convert the Skil table to use my aluminum plate, I will add some. It never fit completely level on my shop made table.
Perhaps I should do a video if I attempt that conversion.

Check out the Kobalt router table/router Combo. Not much more than the Skill, but I think much better quality

@@MojoPup That set is discontinued at least in this area and shipping is unavailable. Better check with your local Lowe's if it's available anymore.

I like the sound guy swapping out the wireless sender.
After looking up T9, a TH-cam tester showed Sta Bil Rust Stopper to be better.

enjoy your videos but have a question. I have a Porter Cable model 1001 router and was told by PC that they don't make a table that mates with it. Do you know who does or have any ideas what I can do? I am new in woodworking and would appreciate help.

Piker. I have cut back to only six tables. The remainder includes: Overarm pin router table. Tilting top router table. Micro adjustable horizontal router table. Double-throat router table with ttwo different types of throat plates for special operations. Sliding table router table. Knock-down router table for job site use. Don’t think I missed any…

Right...but what should I look for in a router table.

    • @ginoasci2876

true, the tile did specify table but spoke more about lifts.
phenolic, cast iron, high grade plywood, then laminated MDF.
if you go with MDF, or plywood, just triple layer it, and if you want to really go stronger, inset a couple of steel bars in the barton surface.
i built a heavy cabinet, and i’ll be making a heavy top, most likey MDF or plywood with the bars if needed.
i like extra heavy to keep it solid and quiet.
what did you end up using ?

I ordered the Rockler Router Table Cabinet and apart from taking 3+ hours to assemble, it’s Rock-solid and extremely well built and I gave them a great review on their site. But then one item I ordered went on sale in a different kit so I ordered the kit for $5 more and one item was not so good so I asked to return two items worth about $75 on a $1,500 order. Mad are they unfriendly when it comes to returns. There is no easy way to return an item on the site, you have to search around and find “returns” then they make you fill out a form on line, then they email you a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of an unreadable form and write all the info in, then they make you pay shipping and a return fee. Seriously, they make it so difficult to return something that I can’t leave a 5 star review any more and I will not do business with them. Your crummy policy worked, I will keep the stuff, not worth the work to return it… Hey Rockler, try returning something on Amazon. Easy Peasy and Amazon pays the return shipping. I’m going to stick with amazon and hope this serves as a warning to everyone to avoid Rockler for bad customer service practices!

Why waste the money with all of that, when you can just buy a small cast iron shaper from Grizzly fir $395. , with all of that including a motor, and it uses router bits or shaper cutters.

That's what I have. I bought a 1 1/2 hp Sharper from Grizzly 20 years ago and it works great. it takes router bits and large shaper bits. It does everything I want it to.
