o3-mini is a bit of a flop to be honest. Its a price improvement but still well behind. In terms of its capabilities there isn't much of an improvement over the competition. OpenAI starting to look desperate. Tasks was basically prompts as a cronjob (a 10 yo could implement), Operator was not good at all - open source solutions perform as good or better and now o3-mini that only brings a price improvement but not even showing the CoT
I am using it locally (with Ollama) for coding. You need to use a temperature of 0.15 and then it is producing very good results comparable with Qwen-Coder 2.5 and DeepSeek-R1.
And o3-mini and o3-mini-high just dropped about an hour or so ago. :) o3-mini is released to the free tier as well.
