I was driving a Mustang from Miami to Milwaukee when this winter storm happened. South Indiana had freezing rain before the snow started, so it was a 30 mph drive. I counted about 650 stranded cars and rigs before I reached Indianapolis on I65. About 15 miles north of Indianapolis, a state trooper was directing traffic off the interstate. He told me that there were at least 3000 stranded vehicles between Lebanon and Gary. I idled at a Love's for the following 12 hours.
I used to do Overnight express from Chicago to Fargo for 3 years. Really not much fun in the winter. 10.5 hour drive time. That was before ELD. Paper logs saved by ass many times.
I just started working at the fort Wayne pilot truck stop as a cashier in Dec of 2021 pretty kool knowing you were at my pilot truck stop on coliseum Blvd in fort Wayne btw that McDonald's ain't there no more the owner closed it and the pilot has been remodeled they moved the fuel islands and remodeled the truck stop

Live in Reno and couldn't tell you the number of times I've been stuck on the west side of Donner because the road's closed. The good thing about it was even though I worked for a ltl company, they gave me a sleeper just because of this.
Fort Wayne really didn't get the worst of it, about 50 miles south in gas city (you've been there) we had 18 inches of snow and they had to bring in the D.O.T bulldozers because their own plow trucks were getting stuck, and it didn't help that a week and a half later we got another 8 inches of snow.
I remember back many years when you got up the old saying was break radio check now when you get up you have to hook up your Bluetooth you GPS has your dash cam and the rest of your electronic crap glad I'm retired not into that no more
