The Katana gets a lot of love. But it is the iconic weapon of the Samurai afterall.
idk about that, it isnt really used in combat, the one used is called a tachi and there are far more depictions of samurai wielding spears and bows rather than swords, im willing to bet that its probably movies and japanese animations that promited samurais using a katana as a primary weapon
@@thesterben5573 the warrior code of Japan was taken from Chinese Tai chi swordsmen so it's no shock that the Japanese revere the sword just as most warriors do as being the emperor of all weapons
@@brianwill5493 They revere it as a status statement and what it represents, not as a weapon. As a weapon it was a back up, and even then a last resort.
Hey LastToLoad - I love your advanced tips video! What kind of setup are you using with the katana? What are your skill customizations tab & custom active skills set to? Gaurdian Spirits & yokai abilities? Stats, Weopons & equipment? Heavy or Light armor?
Been rocking a purity fist/dual-sword build using demon slayer set bonuses. I have purity fists and the demon slayer dual swords rolled with purity on them too. It wrecks ki & stun locks most enemies with confusion. If you get a yokai to zero ki + inflict confusion debuff at the same time then ki regen is completely halted. I use Ho-oh & Yumehami for gaurdian spirits. Shuten Doji yokai ability inflicts fire/scorched & keeps extraction + Pleiades up 24/7 with 100+ Life Recovery on Amrita absorption
as well as +Defense, +Attack Power, +Ki Recovery Speed and increased Movement Speed on Amrita absorption too. I build anima so fast with Ho-oh & white tiger. I can basically spam Gozuki which wrecks ki especially when target is already purified or confused. major anima bonuses when I inflict purity, Fire/Water/lightning aka elemental, or confusion. As long as I'm swinging and hitting an enemy while extraction buff is up I'm pretty hard to kill.
Anyways, I want to try a Katana/dual sword build and was curious about your setup & reccomendtion/Tips.

It depends on what you are aiming for, and how much experience you have with the gameplay. Either you are tanking with heavy armor at most or play fast in light armor, or balance between defense and attack with mid armor. Yokai skill/skill customisation is subjective, but I do go with yokai skill that goes fast like ippon and oni bi. guardian spirit i dont have much in mind, but i do use for combo with item canceling to apply debuff and/or to do cool stuff.
I mostly aim for the gameplay aspect so your goal may be different. Are you looking for skill play or having a good build?

Yea, also explosives arrow, but its nothing big.
@@LasttoLoad wait, there's also "extrema ratio" buff. Greatly increase your attack (toght 30-35%) and reduce your hp at 30%.

@@oguzakdeniz809 only melee. If you got empowered ninjutsu the buff is even higher.
I'm not 100% sure but should increase also yokai form dmg

Is it me, or all the Yokai Shift Skills operate similar to how Ultimate Techniques work in Ninja Gaiden?
Both games are made by team ninja, so it makes since.
You're sorta right as absorbing amirita makes it charge faster like the ultimate technique in Ninja Gaiden when you absorb orbs
The problem with farmable skills is now I have to wait 50 hours into the game to get the damn things lol

You do realize the yokai shift skills aren’t a one and done? It applies the effects to your basic attacks for a lil bit
It is still a droppable skill to obtain.
@@LasttoLoad that’s not my point. I guess I phrased that wrong, it’s more of a question; do the effects you get from the charged heavy apply to the basic attacks? So like the tornado on the feral, does it apply to basic attacks?

@@IDKbruh420 what a bummer. She gets to kill me 50 times with fire skills that have infinite tracking range on wise just to drop an armor set that looks like a burlap sack tied by red string. I (kinda) enjoyed the fight but still..not even 1 skill?

aww only two new skills? At least the SG one looks really good.
those are the only boss skills there are atleast 1 or 2 new skills you can buy with skill points with all the weapon types

Yeeeeah lets do a dash and twirly move that take double ki to use and then a double slap from tonfas after and if it breaks ki it grapples humans to knee them in the face....yeah they will be happy with that....

How about a spin... That avoids damage and makes certain attacks stronger... And it can only be used in mid-stance... Anddddd....... A kick. Yeah! A really high kick, that can be obtained after completing samurai training: adept and followed up with an axe slam that can be obtained after samurai training: veteran! That should do!
To be fair though, I'm happy that the axe got a few more skill, even if it was just those 2-3 new ones added

And we thought the entire tree for all weapons is gonna get filled, but we only got 2 skills for each weapon and mostly one of those 2 is trash... they bettter add more later on otherwise it's gonna be very disappointing
we still have complete edition so time will tell
It is indeed weird, there are more than half a dozen bubbles for each weapon, and there are a few like dual swords that have spaces unused (L+square in high stance) while others are swimming in variety (swords mainly).

wow final DLC.....kinda bust Was there even any new magic added? we got more for free than the dlc added. Disappointed
There is, but its nothing big; one is anima steal and another one is ki dmg bonus from yokaishift and burst counter.
Honestly, there are already so many skills in this game, I can't even complain.

@@swiftchancellor159 same here bro,they also added the Underworld(Abyss in Nioh1) end game content where you can ALSO get Scroll of the Damned,wich is a tier ABOVE Scroll of the Nioh sooooo i don't see any reason to feel dissapointed @Blaze @William Conto :)
Everybody is disappointed as always.
I loved the Nioh games but the DLC ends were so lackluster. DLC3 of Nioh 2 was awful. Boring levels and skills. Yokai Shift was never implemented well. Brute's skill is okay, but everything was too little too late. Blue Moon offends me the most. Tachibana had that in base Nioh 1 and they repackaged it at the end of Nioh 2. They ran out of creativity so it's good this was the last one but I'll miss the base combat mechanics. Stance switching and ki pulsing was so awesome. Can never go back to a Dark Souls.
Seriously? The main missions for the 3rd were some of the largest levels. And very maze like. The bosses were dope!
