Bass Fishing in EXTREME HEAT - Arabie Dam

HELLO EVERYONE!!!
In this video, we head out to Arabie Dam in search of some big African Bass!
Unfortunately, fishing was ultra, super, mega tough! I'm assuming the 40 degrees Celsius had something to do with it...
We arrived at the dam on Friday morning, to an uncomfortable 27 degrees at 08:30 in the moring.
We were ready to brave the heat in order to get some green fish on the boat!
We started of by fishing far up the river but, this area only produced RATS! We worked our way towards the main dam and eventually, I managed to land my first and only fish for the day at the split on the river. I dropped multiple good fish on Friday... It just seemed to be one of those days where everything goes wrong. I was throwing the Googan Nuke Punch most of the day, in an attempt to trigger a bigger bite... But I was unsuccessful. My Dad managed a couple small fish throughout Friday and landed one around the 1kg mark.
In the late afternoon, while getting some drone footage of a 2-3m croc, the heavens opened and we were forced off the water. Our day ended with a beautiful double rainbow, a magical sunset and a delicious braai!
Saturday morning started off with a bang! I managed two fish within 15min, and then the bite went quiet. We had to work really hard to get the fish to bite in the scorching hot conditions. I was confident they were still shallow-ish, but they seemed to be extremely lethargic.
About a half hour before we got off the water, Kobus (A friend I was fishing with on the Explorer) managed to land a 1.2Kg. Unfortunately, by this time, I had no battery left on the GoPro and wasn't able to catch it on film. WELL DONE KOBUS!!!
After one of my toughest weekends at Arabie, being bullied by the Sun, we drove off back to JHB before the storms rolled through.
I can't wait to go back! This has to be one of the most beautiful dams in the country!
