Michael ruined me! He told me to buy Blades a few years ago and I’ve not stopped listening to them since. Food and drink is put outside my door, I rarely sleep, I lost my job, locked in hearing my favourite music, movies and TV like never before while discovering new types and genre’s because of those dammed speakers. And now he has the audacity to say they made them better. Does he have no mercy? This is a warning…stay clear of that man and his speakers.
🤣🤣🤣🤣…I was knew to KEF last Summer… now own a pair of LS50 Metas and a pair of R11’ …so by logic, it goes..Reference 5’ metas next…then Blade 2 Metas…followed by a pair of Muons …. 💤💤💤💤… what a dream that was 👀👀👀🎶🎶
Lovely video pal. Great speakers. My only concern or curiosity is that the midband driver on the front there is very small. Mid drivers are usually bigger than that, does this reduce the 'soundstage' of the midband?
Hi Michael, What would you say is the big difference between Reference 3 and Reference 3 meta? I have a Parasound A21+ amplifier and would you say that this can pair well with either model of theses KEF speakers? Thanks.
Hi Richard The meta technology is the major difference, hence the price increase. The change of unit also meant crossover changes so in a Reference speaker it isn't possible to upgrade the meta unit. I have now done the comparison between the two versions for clients a few times and all agree it's much improved. That also means I have one pair of the non meta version to sell off more cheaply! The Reference 3 bass does go deep, deep enough to lose control if the room is too small! Approx guide- In rooms from 4 by 4m up to5 buy 7 Ref 3s are great. Then you look at the extra weight of Reference 5 or Blade /2. Of course the amplifiers etc need to be correct Thanks Michael
Hi Vincent, to me both the new Reference have far better clarity, you will hear music and detail that the 207s just can't resolve. The larger bass units of the 207s do give a full warm bass but overall both Ref 3 and 5 are much superior. See if you can get a listen for yourself, good luck. Michael
Hi, Michael. Is there a big difference between Kef ref1 meta vs ref3 meta when it comes to bass? Does Ref1 satisfy bass need in small to medium room or 1 does need ref3 for full range sound? Thanks.
Hi There is no doubt that Ref3s are better but I could see a situation where they could overpower a small room. In our dem room of 5m by 4.5m thge 3s are much better. Hope this helps Michael
