    I've had it. When I opened it, first impression I didn't really like it. Then about 1/3rd down the bottle improvise immensely. Halfway through it started getting really good, and towards the end of the bottle it was amazing. If you chuck some ice in to bring the Abv down you get a really nice stewed pineapple smell/ taste.

    I snagged 5 bottles of the Amrut Intermediate Sherry Single Malt for $50 each before it had wider distribution. I really like it! I think India has similar challenged and advantages that I've been finding in Texas. I hope to do a blind sherry shootout in which I compare a Scotch, a Texas bottle and an Amrut single malt.

    Here's a few more Amruts I'd recommend. We have tons here in Nashville- Amrut Spectrum (both releases), Amrut Aatma (both releases), and Amrut Bengal Tiger (US Release).

    Nice to see you guys finally branching out. So many good whiskies out there that aren't from Scotland. Cheers boys 👍

    I absolutely adore Intermediate Sherry (Glad you guys reviewed it!),. Unfortunately, the closest place to buy a bottle is an 8+ hour drive away. Road trip I guess.

    Love that you guys did a non-scotch! What a great one to start with. I love this bottle. We are on our second bottle of it, and it's nearly at zebra status. Will definitely try to replace it.

    been keeping my eye on the orange one. They put orange peels in sherry barrel for 3years after 3 years in bourbon barrel. Scotland 2020

      WheelHouseWhisky I have that one and it’s opened, the Naarangi. I really like it. The orange isn’t overboard like say the Compass Box Orangerie, but it’s there. Funny, I didn’t know how it was finished or anything about it before I bought it and I picked up some burnt orange right away. I was happy to know that at least some of my senses aren’t lying to me 😜.

    I love this whisky, on my second bottle. I know giving a 4 is unusual, but if this whisky isn't a 4 there basically aren't any. So if the choice is either 3.5 or 4, I'd go 4. Nice review. Try the portonova!

    Great review.. I’ve seen Amrut around the Atlanta area and now I want to try it. BTW, did one of you guys play guitar on that opening track? Pretty groovy!

    My bottle (Batch 9 from 2012 )is now open since 2-12-2021 and its a banger 4 if not higher. I'm comparing side by side with Amrut Portonova (Batch 23 from 2018) which has been opened for 10 months now and may be a 4.75 . Have you tried this one yet? If not then you must!

    If this is the same Amrut that @Sunday Evening Scotch sent me during the first scotch swap, oh boy oh boy did that blow my mind! Nicely done fellas! So what world whisk(e)y is next? 😉

    guys, ya gotta try Indian Paul John | Brilliance... which means unpeated, at 46 apv. really fruity and strong. nice 😉

  • @thewhiskybadger174
    @thewhiskybadger174 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm already excited to know that this thing exists. You guys have to try Kavalan's Sherry Oak out of Taiwan. They have a 46% as well as a cask strength version. Along with many other wine finishes but the sherry is the OG. A much fruitier dram than how you describe the Amrut but so so good. I would love to hear your opinions on it.

    When you are scanning your local whisky shop to see if any new bottles have come in and you spot that bright red box. Look down at the price tag and it is mispriced for 49.99. I'll take 2 thank you.

    Going hunting tomorrow, specifically for Deanston 20, think I saw on their site that they may have this as well. Question here is one of each or the original plan of getting 2 20s. Hope y’all are staying safe guys. Cheers.

    Amrut is a good whisky, no mistakes about it! And about the age-statements...……..you can compare a 7 year old Amrut with a 15 year old Scotch (plusminus)…….and hey, Amrut HAS warehouses close or in the Himalayas as well!!………...Thumbs up you guys from the Netherlands, think you nailed it pretty good!!

    Is it similar in any way to Texas Single malts? Thinking about the weather.

    • @rsconnor01
      @rsconnor01 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think Amrut has a better understanding of single malts and do a much better job re: them than Texas distilleries. A good comparison is between Kavalan and Amrut.

    • @WhiskyMystery
      @WhiskyMystery 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rsconnor01 Ah yes Kavalan is similarly young due to the weather and aging.

    • @justinmaizeblue
      @justinmaizeblue 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it is similar to all the rapidly aged single malts like Kavalan and balcones. There is no substitute for age with single malts. Doesn’t mean they are bad but the cereal notes always poke through the young ones.

    Interesting, never though of Indian single malt! I wonder if the British (Scots) had any influence down the line, on their distillery process, having been there for a few centuries. 🤔

  • @gman5986
    @gman5986 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I just received and cracked my bottle and have to say I'm disappointed . It has some nice sherry flavors but the alcohol burn is very off putting! Time may help this one open up and tone down the hotness but at this moment I'll give it a 3.25 considering the exorbitant price for such a young spirit,and very disappointing for the $110 plus $20 in taxes and shipping on top of that.I don't get the very high reviews unless those reviewers didn't rate it until it opened up to a better profile. Glendronach 18 blows this away by 10 times or more for the same price point!!

  • @justinmaizeblue

    I really didn’t like this bottle when I had it. Got the chinese five spice, meat, rotten wood flavor. Not a fan. But if you guys like this one, you have to pick up a KAVALAN solist sherry.
