The Spyderco Reverse design is the melding of two schools of thought on edged combatives and it has been executed to perfection.
Designed in collaboration between Michael Janich (Martial Blade Combatives) and Craig Douglas A.K.A. "Southnarc" of Shivworks. This fixed blade allows for the handle to be removed and the blade orientation to be changed from edge out, preferred in MBC, to edge in or P'Kal, preferred in Shivworks.
Light, thin, and fast in the hand this knife provides a solid, easy to access, defensive tool that is as affordable as it is effective. Made from CTS BD1, an ingot steel that is highly corrosion resistant and takes a fine edge, and textured G10. The Reverse will be there and ready when you need it.

Yep, that is what allows the blade to be reversed in the handle as well as giving the blade the proper balance. The G10 scales are tight enough to the tang to support it. Should be plenty of strength for the application.

All they had to do was a neutral handle.
