He was a pioneer producer-director of Indian cinema, best known for directing the social epic Mother India (1957), which won the Filmfare Awards for Best Film and Best Director, two National Film Awards, and was a nominee for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.[3] He set up his production company - Mehboob Productions, and later a film studio - Mehboob Studios in Bandra, Mumbai in 1954.[4][5][6] He also created the dacoit film genre with Aurat (1940) and Mother India, and is also known for other blockbusters including the romantic drama Andaz (1949), the swashbuckling musical Aan (1951), and the melodrama Amar (1954).

One Railway Guard took him for labour job in Kardar film studios

With his first wife he had one son two daughters
Second wife Sardar Akhtar didn't have and children there for they took adoption of one child. Who worked in his film name Son Of India

Deep researched film on Director Mehboob Khan Saheb.
Maheboob Khan (MK) was very professional and used to accept his mistakes too. He was once invited by B R Chopra (BRC) for the silver Jubilee function of Dhool Ka Phool. MK told during his speech that he made Amar which had very renowned artists like Dilip Kumar & Madhubala and its music was also by legend Nushad whereas Dhool Ka Phool had second level artists like Rajendra Kumar and Mala Sinha and music also by N. Dutta but even then Amar failed on box office but Dhool ka Phool is celebrating silver Jubilee. The difference between 2 films was screen play and Dhool Ka Phool screen play was much superior than Amar and congratulated BRC. He was such a professional.
