    It lives! So cool to see your trailer finally get on the road. You should be very proud with what you have made.

      Thanks Rick! Yes... really excited to be this close to finished, and hard not to pull it out of the garage and stare at it for a while! Really liking this one!

    The heavy frame is great for keeping the center of gravity low and sure looks like it won't break any time soon. Good job.

    Looks beautiful and professionally done. But my concern would be on the placement of the axle. It looks kinda far to the rear. That is great for trailing and you won't get any fishtailing but it increases the tonque weight. At overland trailers they recommend a 60% setback from the front. What's your or anybody's thought on this.

    • @OregonBatman
      @OregonBatman  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good observation... I used the two thirds rule for the frame and axle placement. The trailer weighed in at 1000 pounds, so a good tongue weight would be 10 to 15 percent (100 to 150 pounds). My tongue weight was right around 170 pounds (with battery in front). Once you load the galley and refigerator, put gear in the cabin (to the rear), propane tank behind the wheels, you have no excessive tongue weight. I think it was the optimal placement and tows straight. Had no bounce towing behind my Jeep with a 2000 pound tow limit. Appreciate the comment and thank you for checking out the video!

    I'm guessing 968 lbs but that is with the cooler full of liquid enjoyment. LOL I'm hoping to move my camper build to the new house project next weekend and maybe do some work on it in a few weeks.

    • @OregonBatman
      @OregonBatman  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You might be real close. Those scales are in increments of 50 lbs, so with just the right amount of juice in the cooler... might hit your mark! LOL! Be good to see you get back on that trailer, you need to finish!

    And if you do a 7-pin connector, you could charge your battery as you drive

    • @OregonBatman
      @OregonBatman  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The setup on my actual tow rig doesn't have the 7-pin, would have been a great option though... especially with the 12 volt cooler in the back

    • @wesleypipelayer7627
      @wesleypipelayer7627 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      OregonBatman
      You can always convert the tow rig to 7-pin. Just have to get a 12v positive on (with engine running). Not hard to do. Do a little research. It’s pretty easy. Most trucks have the right wire in the tow harness, just not connected to anything, and usually just a fuse missing. But depends on the vehicle. My f150 had the wire at the back harness, just had to change connectors. And add the fuse.

    • @OregonBatman
      @OregonBatman  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wesleypipelayer7627 My tow rig just has the 4-pin, but I like the idea of being able to charge the battery while driving, I'll have to do a little research on that! Thanks for the tip!

    Hey Al, what was included inside when you checked your weight? did you have the mattress, cooler, LP tank full, etc...? Looks great, tracking well, we can't wait to start our build, perhaps this winter. LOVE it! hope you have another project lined up, we look froward to watching your videos every weekend.

    • @OregonBatman
      @OregonBatman  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Dennis! Mattress was included, LP tank full, Stove and cooler included, no other gear... so just dry weight. The scales are in increments of 50 lbs, so weight is between 950 and 1000 lbs dry! Handled really well... be a great winter project, you'll have lots of fun! I plan on doing something in the future, not sure what just yet, but Batman always returns! :) Cheers!

    Al, as always a beautiful job, I asked Ohio state police about taking a home built trailer to be weighed without a license plate and was told to get a plate and sticker before you get it weighed. Are you allowed to take yours on the road for weighing without the license. My wife ask how much did it weigh, I hit it on the nose ,I said 800 to 1000.

    • @OregonBatman
      @OregonBatman  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oregon, if the trailer weighs less than 1500 lbs, no license required. Although, I will probably get it registered at some point.
