+SteveRunciman Speaking of 10 hours without a break..did you know that the greatest chess player in history (Paul Morphy) played 8 of the best chess players in France with aid of 100 people, so, 108+, and...he was blindfolded. Pure art. Paul sat in a chair, facing the wall, whilst 108+ people were in the next rooms and behind him, all working together, Paul beat all of them, they played for 10 hours, he had not a single break, nor any food or water, it is worth noting that Paul was the fastest players in history as well, he played almost every move in under 1 minute, his longest think was 8 minutes (longest of most GMs would be 45-60 minutes), he played almost every move here under 1 miunte whilst the 108+ people had 10 hours! He had the record for the highest blindfold simu too (8-10 people at once). Masterful. The only true genius of chess, this much is clear.
Omg, I could listen to Yasser ALL DAY long by a nice fireplace 😂 He's such a great storyteller. And the editor did an amazing job too. That was a great cut.
Not only is Mr. Seirawan a great player, teacher and author, his enthusiasm for the game shines through like a joyous beacon. His stories are wonderful!
Yasser is one of the great chess men of our time. Not only is he a great chess player, but his love of the game and his interest in "spreading the message" of chess, is invaluable to our sport. I'd love to see Yasser become involved at international level in FIDE because he really has the interest of our sport at heart and someone of his leadership would be great for our game.
Can you imagine being an up-and-comer today and Anatoly Karpov takes an interest in your games, wants to play YOU in blitz? That was the situation Yasser was in at Lone Pine. Amazing.
FYI Yasser Pilsner Urquell is NOT a lager, it is a pilsner, with a different fermentation process than lagers, which are the international generic style of brewing. The pilsner style was derived in the Czech city of Pilsen.
I don’t remember even taking note of the amount of money offered for the Fischer-Karpov match. I was just shocked that Fischer would turn down an opportunity to play Karpov.and reinforce his claim on being the best player in the world.
I could happily listen to Yasser for 10 hours without a break.

Every beer is an ale or a lager. Pilsner is a type of lager.
Super cool talk. My favourite was the wijk story... Can you imagine that happening now? No chance!
Very polite man !!! 👍👍👍

Is Yasser really of a Syrian origin?
Yep. He moved to Seattle early in his childhood though. Sorry for responding 3 years later. I assume you’ve probably already figured it out.
29:18 Did the video editor really just censor the word "damn"?! America is weird.
Most American TV stations wouldn't censor that. It's just this editor's choice.
Does he / can he ever lose his temper?
there was that one time in Tilburg 1974...
very funny
