Thank you for this video. Yesterday I went to my sister's house to stamp and I brought very little. Distress and Oxide sprays, my Tim mat, and your number 1 pick is paper! And she taught me your technique in making the most beautiful backgrounds! I was stunned and couldn't stop. Thank you so much for sharing your talent.
Tiffany, that really helped out a lot. I started card making when the oxides came out, I went hog wild, got the full set of inks and sprays. Then I discovered distress inks and spray stains, I was so mad that I didn’t wait to get all of the Oxides, even all the new ones, have the distress minis cause that’s all I can afford now, lost my other half at 58 yrs old, suddenly a year ago. Funds have been really tight now. I wish and hope one day to get all of the spray stains and some micas as well. This year is much better than last year, knock on wood. I was in the hospital 3x in 7 months for a week stay or more. That really sucked and knocked the wind out of me. Got back into crafting, doing some mixed media and it sure keeps me sane. Thank for being an inspiration and for listening.
Thank you for this awesome step through the papers for Mixed Media Tiffany. Fabulous to have the comparisons and happily I have a few of the papers, so can give them a try! I'm always so inspired by your wonderful teaching! Thank you xoxo
I think the dirty paper towel added some fun texture to that background! Thanks for doing this comparison! I'm just starting to try my hand at some mixed media cards, and I appreciate all your tips!
Thank you so much. I never pull out my sprays because I’m always disappointed in the results. I have the Strathmore mixed media paper so I’m going to give those a try.
Thank you so much for sharing about the distress oxide paper. I thought it was just me! I went through half a pack and couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong having no clue that the paper consistency changed! Thank you!
Thank you so much very!! It was so helpful! I’m always nervous to use my sprays because I think it will turn out bad. I need to just use them and get over the fear.
Thanks so much! Question...can distress reinkers be used in a diy version of the sprays? I have lots of reinkers and don't have the budget or the space to buy and store a lot of the sprays. Such beautiful combinations of colors!
Mixed Media heavystock is my #1, but I really enjoy spraying on watercolor cardstock, especially with the mica sprays. I haven’t tried mixed media paper for sprays, but I mainly use that kind of paper for gelli printing. I honestly can’t find a good reason to use white heavy stock.
Thanks Tiffany!! Super helpful video and I totally respect your opinions! I do want to give the SBC media paper a try if their shipping costs ever become affordable LOL! LOVE LOVE your work and appreciate the PDF File, the colors are amazing.
Thanks for the great info. I absolutely love how the sprays turned out on the craft heavy stock. I definitely need to try that. Also, thanks for the heads up on the white heavy stock changing their formula. I have some of the older stuff and will likely be a bit more precious about using it now. Question: I thought that Bristol smooth and Bristol velum were two different types of paper?
Forgot - I also used the Distress Watercolor Paper to stencil with Distress Inks and the images turned out crisp and really great even on the rough side. I used the rough side to make the florals look more like paintings.
Hi! Thanks for the info. This is the second time I viewed this video and I didn’t catch the three colors of sprays that you used in your experiment. Please tell me again what colors you used. Love your input BTW! Laura

Thanks! Love paper! Paper paper paper! Wish you had your other examples out of the way tho!
This is very helpful. Thanks for sharing your knowledge ❤

Tiffany this was super helpful! I have not dabbled in mixed media yet but you are encouraging me to give it a go! Thank you for sharing this! 🥰
Thanks! It makes so much sense now that you have shown this.
Super helpful comparison video, TY!!🧑🏼🎨😀

Thanks! This was so helpful. I often wonder why I don't hear more about Strathmore Bristol. It is so cost effective and works for many techniques.
It really is such great paper for so many things.
Bristol Vellum is always my go to. Thanks for the great info and suggestions.
Fantastic video! Really helpful. I haven’t put much thought into the paper I am using with sprays, but now I will. ❤
Really helpful. Thanks 👍
Great video! I always use my Bristol, but eventually I'd like to try the SBC one too.
Thank you so much!❤
Thank you! Very helpful😊

I love Bristol for blending. It’s very versatile card stock. I need to use my sprays more, they don’t get much use 😳

Question: I thought that Bristol smooth and Bristol velum were two different types of paper?
Thank you. I know some of my paper wasn’t working. The ink soaked in n made the paper puffy looking.
Do you spray water first before spraying the mica sprays?
Thank you, Tiffany. Amazing information. Do you use Bristol smoothe on regular distress ink to for a better blend for beginners
Do you use glossy paper for mica sprays?
Forgot - I also used the Distress Watercolor Paper to stencil with Distress Inks and the images turned out crisp and really great even on the rough side. I used the rough side to make the florals look more like paintings.

Thanks for watching!
So, what were the three colors you used?
3 colour: spun sugar, picked raspberry & seedless preserve 2 colour: milled lavender & seedless preserve
no surprise that Tim Holtz sprays work best on his paper. He designed them like that.
The Ranger white heavystock is his too. But it doesn’t work anymore. 😞
