There’s no point even trying to compare Ben and Callum to Syed and Christian because their storyline was so unique they were made for eachother, it was such a powerful storyline to be told back then it reminded me of how Rana and Kate’s storyline started in Coronation Street, because again Rana was battling with her feelings for Kate alongside what her religion meant to her.
The other connection with Corrie was both Christian and Kate were insufferably patronising, I honestly wished Kate had died instead of Rana, Rana was too good for her.
The stories are similar. Both Ben and Callum struggled with familial and societal expectations just like Christian and syed. No one is "made" for anyone. They chose to be together no matter what the world thinks. However being in his second gay bashing seems to have driven Ben back into the closet
@@gwynnethcoan761 they are not at all similar. Yes they had that too, but this was about the differences in culture and religion too. Syed also went through conversion therapy which obviously was a massive waste of time 🤣🤔

They could have a cameo kind of thing, like the current storyline with Tamwar and nancy's divorce- Tamwar could return wanting to talk to Nancy but visit his brother to get advice. I wonder if in a few years they might have Syed and Amira's daughter return to the square to kick up some trouble. But if they bring Syed back they might have to recast him as Marc Elliott has moved on from the role and has said 'he's unlikely to ever return to the show.'
Watching Christian & Syed's storyline helped me feel normal/valid at a time I felt like I was the only one in the world that was gay. Think it helped my mum understand me a little better after I came out to her when she was struggling too accept my sexuality. She's now the most supportive mother I could ever want/ask for!
Honestly I don't think EE will ever do a gay romance storyline as good as Syed and Christian. There was much more drama especially because of Syed's religion and family etc. Ben and Callum are cute and all but I don't feel the passion as much as Christian/Syed arc had.
I'm very close with my mom, I have no idea what I would've done if she disowned me for loving someone just because of what religion tells her. Seeing his mom just turn away in disappointment is heartbreaking. I've never watched this series but I hope they find a way to reconcile.
Masood and Zainab came around in the end and accepted Syed was gay. They accepted Christian into the family too. If Syed is gay he cannot change what he is it's his natural sexuality. I don’t agree with the line “whatever faults I have, Allah (God) gave them to me”. No religion believes that. They believe in free will and choosing good and not wrong.
I used to watch all of their scene long time ago lol so if I remember correctly and maybe someone can correct me if Im wrong, there were a lot happen to them after this scene (because its soap, of course). In the end, they had a child together and decided to move out of town and that was their happy ending... :)
Such a horrible situation that religion puts gay people in. Religious ideals were formed in ancient age when man’s understanding was limited and unfortunately 2000 years ago man believed in evil spirits and the devil and in black-and-white and good and evil and possession and silly things that are not the determinants of sexuality. They probably believed the Earth was flat, they believed that the Earth was the centre of the universe, they believed that the universe was probably the only universe and that God spent all his time watching over his creation mankind. They didn’t know about dinosaurs or Neanderthals ! genetics and hormones and yet they want to follow these ancient rules because if you start dismantling the rules you dismantle religion, and they lose the hope of order and paradise
No religion, no god or goddess or mythology can trump love, and try as they may to hate and destroy , these types of heteros will never win. Hope one day these stories aren’t needed any more and our people live free right from birth
