      This is the last you will hear of this crime.
      They 'identified' a suspect, but didn't identify them.
      There was no arrest.
      There will be no arrest.
      Chances are, the ultra left liberals are blaming the rock for offending the person simply by existing.
      In my opinion, a year minimum, PLUS actual costs of restoration and any lost revenue due to their actions.

      For something that didn't leave permanent markings? You want someone who scraped a rock to go hang out with sex offenders and drug addicts... why do you want a non violent offender to go to jail anyway? There is limited space.

      @joeyoest1105, let's look at it in a different perspective. How would you feel if someone used a rock to deface one of your loved ones gravestone? We'll, you said somebody took a rock and scratched on another rock. It is no difference to most people . Hallowed ground means graveyard. Gettysburg is not only a war memorial, soldiers were buried where they fell most of the time. Federal offense yes, decades in prison no, but it needs to be more than community service.

    • @joeyoest1105
      @joeyoest1105 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@RogerSutton-pz8lf yes, if someone scratched up one of my loved-ones’ gravestones, I’d say the same thing. It would be absurd to call for 5-10 years in prison for that, especially if it could be remedied with an hour of work. A sensible penalty would be for them to clean up the damage they did or, if it’s already been cleaned up, give an equivalent amount of work restoring other things in the same area. Sending someone to jail/prison for scratching a rock with another rock - especially when it’s not cordoned off and can be restored with a minimal amount of work - is an emotional response that has nothing to do with justice.

Incidentally when we had a guided history tour of the historic battlefield and colonial town we learned that back in the day they used to have unused or spent cannonballs from the battle displayed with the canons stolen as souvenirs and never seen again Getty’s burg has seen a lot of vandalism in its time.
