Next project more useful? Nothing is more useful than a dad being there, showing the kids what can be done through thinking and doing, and enjoying the results with them. Bravo. You're a fine role model for young men. -- something society desperately needs.

This is really fun. I love the simplicity of little wooden flippers for the launching mechanism. One of those things that a kid could think of instantly but would have an adult scratching their head for hours looking for a solution.

I swear, his kids get the coolest stuff to play with. I know at that age I may not have had the full mental capacity to truly appreciate what I had if my dad had made cool stuff like this, but I would've had fun all the same, and then appreciated the experience later as an adult.

When you were a kid, your electric forklift was supremely useful because it got you thinking about how things work and how to make other things. Your Dad used it to inspire your mind, and look how far the ripples have travelled! Your toy creations are possibly the most important things you make, because of the effects they have on all the children. God bless you for all this. ❤️🧠

That light bulb in series to detect an overload is a genius idea.

The hopper reminds me of bullet and case collators used in progressive ammunition reloading presses. Having seen them in operation I would suggest 2 modifications to yours. 1. A thicker plywood wheel/plate. And 2. A ramped agitator on the stationary round wall that would tip the pieces standing on end (like a wheel) down into correct orientation before they drop into the firing mechanism.

Project was a success, the clients are happy! I wonder if making the slot that the lids fall into be deeper would help. Right now it appears to be about a quarter of the height of a cap, something close to three quarters might work better. The pieces that falls in wouldn't get bumped out as easily by the other pieces.

When orienting primers for reloading ammo, the primers rest on a nubby plate that helps them reorient themselves when they are shaken because they are heavier on one side. The nubbys also interfere with the lip of the light weight side until they flip to the bowl shaped heavy side. Food for thought.
