When you enter an amount into Present Value (PV) it should be negative because negative represents money flowing away from you. Then when you calculate Future Value (FV) it will be positive - representing what you have earned and can withdraw. Also, since you are talking about an investment the calculator should be in END mode.

think you missed out of the beginning and end settings, you can go to shift + menu and you'll find that setting

I am not quite sure what you mean. There is no 'percent' button - it is assumed that there is an understanding that a decimal number can be converted to its percent form by multiplying by 100 (or moving the decimal two place values to the right). You can convert a fraction to decimal using the S-D toggle button. If you are multiplying/dividing by a percent either enter it in it's decimal equivalent form (so 5% would be .05) or it's fractional equivalent (5/100).

Karen I own a fx 115 es (Awesome Calculator), I recently bought the fx 991 Ex, and Ive owned the Casio Cg50 for 8 months now. The cg 50 graphing capabilities are tremendous and I continually amaze my classmates and teachers with its content. However there seems to be a problem when i go to graph mode and change the type of graph to X= function (to function of Y). When I graph the function the capabiities of {root, max, min, Y-int, intsect) exist but when i press the button for the corresponding function, the graph appears and not the function I need. I realized this happens with all the types of graph except the general Y= function. Please help, this calc is amazing and I want this function to work, I downloaded and installed OS 3 for the calculator but it didnt fix the problem.

      George,
Great question, and unfortunately this is a known limitation on all calculator (s) - I checked with our Casio engineers. The algorithm used to calculate those numerical values only applies to the y= equations. This would be true on a TI, if you can even graph the x= at all. Trace would be an option to find those values.

does anyone know how to change the ´END´ in the top right to ´BEGIN´

    • @karengreenhaus6713

Jeremie, Can you tell me what menu app and option you are in within that? I can't find where you are saying there is an End and Begin?

@@karengreenhaus6713 I have exactly the same question. When in coumpound interest, and you need to make it calculate by Annuity Due, you have to change it do BGN . Otherwise, it always do it by Ordinary Annuity (END) . It appears at top right screen when in Coumpund Interest.

Just found out how to do it. Press Shift then SetUp (MENU) and there you have the option to change it from END to BEGIN . Hope it works for you :)

@@lpessoa1998 Thank you for figuring it out!! Helpful to know which option within the Financial Menu you were in. But - in general, what you found is something you can always check, in whatever Menu you decide to go into. Shift Menu (Set Up) once you have selected the menu and entered it's initial screen, is where you can change or check any settings that are appropriate for the menu (if applicable). Another place to check for additional options is OPTN and VARS, once you are in a menu, as these give you other options for the screen you are on (if there are any).
