There's a book called "The Second World War" written by Antony Beevor, it really goes in depth with everything that went on before, during, and after the war. It also really goes in depth with Nanking and the Battles of Khalkhin Gol. So if you're interested in that stuff that's the book to get.

This mod's missions are much harder than vanilla, I love it! There was another japanese mission that started out rather normally and then turned into a complete massacre after I was being forced to move through a gorge of a kind under crossfire. Losses on both sides were more than 3000 men.
The best movie depicting this battle is “City of life and death” by Lu Chuan, that first push is in the very beginning of the film. For a Chinese movie, it is a good one because the director chooses to show it from both Japanese and Chinese sides.

I have recently made a change removing all controversial elements from the map. I made this decision due to comments I have read on both TH-cam and Steam. I have been thinking about this for quite a while now and feel that the references made to Nanking's massacre do not belong in my map. My original purpose was to show the horrors of the war in China, which I find to be underrepresented in media. I find that I search for realism when creating and playing historically based games. While I feel that realism and portraying events such as these should be brought to light, I do agree with many of the online community that this may not be the best medium in which to do so. Most of us play video games for entertainment first and foremost and I believe that I stepped over the line in what we can consider acceptable in the gaming community. While the Nanking massacre should be remembered and learned about, I unfortunately chose a bad medium in which to represent it. I apologize to any users that I offended and/or made uncomfortable. I hope to continue creating quality missions and thank all of you for any support that you give me.

The Japanese to this day refuse to admit their crimes in WWII, especially against the Chinese. This is the reality. If you intended on showing it like it was, keep it. If you didn't and want your work to be popular with the masses, then change it, there's nothing wrong with that either. War isn't pretty, but Nanking was one of the worst. Alternatively, create a different version without the graphic material.
I think you were right to refer to the massacre like you did. We can't act like these things never happened, that's actually one of the stages of genocide - to deny anything ever happened at all. It depresses me that many Japanese won't admit what really happened. They themselves are not to blame, it was their imperialist predecessors decades ago, so why do they try to hide it?

I still believe you would make as good of decisions as you do with it off. Great video but I'm having a tough time understanding the lack of casualties. You repeatedly cross open areas under a heavy crossfire, including machine gun fire, without taking any casualties. Maybe it's because of the difficulty setting?
They are called "Knee Mortars" due to some Marine thinking it was used on the knee but they found it the hard way with the recoil of it shattering their knee lol

"Mass executions" you mean simple murder. Pointed war crimes. Execution would imply there was a trial. That they had done something to deserve a death sentence. That isn't what happened at all.

It would have been a heavy micro job, but taking troops back to fallen comrades to loot for ammo would have worked.
