Yeah, in many videos of this series there's always a guy™ in the comments who is super sure he'd have Inertia trained at 5 months much better than Zak just using corrections. Man, talk about self confidence hahaha
What i appreciate most about these videos are the times that Zak points out when he is being lenient and why, and what is reasonable to expect at different ages. I found this super difficult when raising my pup because I assumed I had to be super strict and consistent always and never let him get away with anything, which led to a lot of frustration for the both of us.
My favorite thing is about this series is the fact that Inertia looks happier after she gets a trick and you reward her, and after each completed skill you're beaming
I just want to thank you for this channel. I started watching almost 3 years ago when we got our puppies. I'll admit, looking back we were expecting too much too soon. So happy we didn't give up on gentle training methods. We unfortunately lost Odin and not only were we devastated, we didn't know how Freyja cope with being alone. Pointers have big feeling and even bigger ways of expressing them... oh and are very prone to separation anxiety. Thanks to this channel, my dog knew how to cope(chews, bring us toys to play, find us for cuddles). The destruction I was told to watch out for never came. REDIRECTING WORKS! My dog is not perfect, but she's always learning and impressing me.
This is a very reassuring video - no dog is perfect and even Zak the dog whisperer needs patience and consistency to train a dog well. I'll come back to this video when I start to feel exasperated with my own pup and his training.
One night my brother forgot to feed our 4 year old border collie. We had also left a lot of fruit on our table in the kitchen area. It was left out all night. And she didn’t touch any of the food on the table or her food that was sitting on the freezer.

She's proving to be so smart! Following this since day 1 is actually so entertaining because it's nice seeing her build on top of existing skills for more complex tasks. Super helpful for when I have the proper setting to raise one of my own.
My puppy (a Maltese) is reaching 5 months old and she gets really excited specially before her puppy class. Last time I was getting a bit worried with her barking and pulling and lunging herself. Seeing Inertia doing the same here put my mind a bit more at easy and gives me strength to keep training her and exposing her to new environments. Thank you very much!
I think it'd be cool if you did a video of taking Inertia to a pet store. Like pet supplies, pet co,pet smart etc. Just think she'd love it and might be a good opportunity with training her. ^-^

I’m so glad your dog is not perfect. I got all kinds of crap from people who thought my girl should have been perfect from day one. You know, those people who think they know everything about dog training. My girl is now three and I still have to train. She’s great in the house, most of the time on leash, will freeze when I tell her, doesn’t beg, has learned to leave it, etc., but I still don’t trust her off leash.
I can fully get on board as your fan with the sweet potato-treats. Thank you for teaching me how to be kind and creative instead of becoming more frustrated.
Love the idea of picking your battles, and allowing your dog to explore the environment before training. My dog is really good off the leash at the park, but for the first five minutes, she is not at all, anything can happen. I will try walking her on her leash to explore her surroundings before taking her off the leash. Thanks! Love your dog too, so smart and fun loving.

I have a 12 week old puppy and have been trying to watch as many of your videos as possible. Definitely helpful and calming at times when the training can get stressful.
Such helpful tips about the flash cards and rolling the frisbee on the ground. I started doing both today with my 9 month Aussie. It’s really comforting to see that Inertia isn’t perfect yet either. Sometimes it can be so frustrating, but I remind myself that it takes time and effort. 😄🐶
Just a thought, it might be helpful to start indexing what you are teaching. It might help for organization of the videos in the future. Maybe in an excel spreadsheet for your own records. Like, I would tag "heel" "stay" "puppy class" "frisbee"
Watching training in real time is encouraging. I watched dozens of videos on TH-cam that were shot when the dog was already trained. As a result, my expectations were way off, and for the longest time, I thought there was something wrong with me or the dog. I’m glad to see the struggles of a professional trainer and the time it takes to teach a puppy how to behave. My pup is 9 months old now, and much easier to communicate with. He seems to understand what I want, which doesn’t mean he will obey all the time. I no longer have training sessions with him, but I am consistent in my expectations and that seems to work.
Wow I can really See now how positive training makes a dog confident, that is amazing! You can see it in her eyes how she wants to work with her human instead of fear that is clear in the eyes of dogs taught with aversive methods. I really love your chanell and I appreciate the good work that you do in promoting loving training of dogs 🥰😍
Zak, thanks for teaching about dog play! I’ve never had a dog or been around dogs much, but I’m getting a puppy soon, and this is sooooo helpful to me!
Love these videos. I got my Labrador the same month you got your Pupper. We have grown together since then. I helped train Labradors years ago but haven't had a puppy in years. So found Zach and we have grown together. Love your patience and ability to stay focused.on the task. Great help
Wow she did so good with the frisbee! My border collie is 5 months as well and loves playing with a frisbee. I'm just working on her catching it now. Thanks for the great training tips!!
Is it just me, or does she still have the cutest ears ever?! Love this video! I was so excited when she caught the frisbee, that I almost jumped out of my chair...LOL! And that leg weave...too cool! I love watching her figure it out! She’s getting so good! Thanks for another fun video! God bless and hugs to you, Bree and all of the fur babies!☺️❤️
Amazing series really helping with our puppies training. Stuff like this helps me understand more because our puppy dosent listen very well and this helps me know how and where to correct. 👍
Oh there’s so much I wanna tell you as a border collie mom! Mine isn’t even purebred, but behaviorally & intelligence wise, you’d never know it. I’m reliving her difficult puppyhood w/you 😆. So super intelligent though & ruled by the nose. I think Inertia would excel at search & rescue. Mine does. Inertia reminds me of my girl so much. It’s so fun for my border girl & such good bonding. Great way to reinforce training too!
Thanks Zac I'm getting a puppy in 1 month time from a rescue and your teaching me everything I need to know before I get him so thank you so much hope everything goes well with inertia

Zak, thank you so so much for all of your training videos and your pupford 30 day perfect pup. I've been following it so closely with my fox red lab. He is 11 weeks old and is almost completely potty training, knows how to sit, down, leave it (almost) and wait. He is my first puppy so your training has been invaluable. Thank you! P.s. Inertia is so cute 💕
I will be getting my new puppy on March 5, 2020! I feel so lucky to have come across your videos! I just received your book, watched at least 50 of your videos and became a Patron!! I amount of time and effort you put into these videos is AMAZING and I need to give you something for all the value you provide! Thanks so much!!- Caroline, NJ
Good video ! When starting the journey with my SDit I was looking forward to take her to many places with 6 months old, just like the other handlers you see on IG. Noo! My lab is 1 and I'm finally getting to say that we did huge progress with leash training and focus. Also dog encounters. I'm a first time handler and I'd never thought it takes so much time! But I'm.glad we worked on our bond that is so strong now and didn't rush because rushing can lead to washouts!
Love seeing Inertia with the frisbee. My old girl is about 12 or 13 and she still goes mad for her frisbee. She's no collie, but I've had her since I rescued her four years ago and she's really learned to love her frisbee games. Sadly she's getting a little slow with her age, so we can't play as much... although you can tell shge wants to. She LOVES to play frisbee... even goes to the box to get it out!
I think you are doing great. Puppies are hard to train. Everything is new and exciting to them, they get distracted easily. They are also eager to learn but , at least with my dog, it has to be when he is in the mood.. Your videos are so helpful. Thank you.
I love the fact that you show good and not too good part of training lol I have a 11 weeks rottweiler he is getting better but other days he will not do so good but I'm proud of his improvements . I need more patience with him he still a puppy
I love it when, in puppy class, you can see a little boy to (our) left of Intertia and Zak, who appears to be ALSO in training along with his puppy (looks like some sort of doodle). :)
I follow him on tiktok and know how old inertia is as of right now. But I still like to come back to remember and refresh my mind on not only training, but also what inertia used to look like.
Let's also appreciate how beautiful Zak's dining set is! The tsble and the chairs! Zak, if you see this, what furniture is that? Ashley? Lazy Boy? I wanna find something like that too!🙏❤ Your dog training videos are fantastic as always. I am learning so much! I love working with my pups applying what you are teaching us! Thank you!🙏❤❤🙏😀😀
Zak i just wanted to give you a heads up! Regular tennis balls can deteriorate dogs teeth in the long run from the fibers on the ball. Instead of using a tennis ball i use chuck it balls! They’re made of rubber, don’t break at all and my dog loves them!
We were lucky when training our lab about staying at the door. Our apartment has about a 2x2 vinyl section, this was our barrier since it was a change from carpet. Any time she left the carpet, uh uh and reset. Our challenges now are the counter surfing a bit and people reactivity. One question on people reactivity, is that confidence based or just not knowing. We can goto a dog park and she will not react like she does on a leash. At the park she'll walk up but as soon they try to pet, that's a no for her and walks away(she has a problem with new people over her). While on leash, she acts crazy but once sniffs and gets a few treats, she's a lovable lab.
4:12 = my rough collie except if it had been my collie at least some of the roast would have been devoured LOL! I think I need to work on this. Love the Frisbee as well; my collie can catch at least somewhat well or better when I throw it to her.
I've got a twelve weeks old blue Merle border collie and after only one week of walking on leash, she stays by your side and doesn't pull at all. She sometimes goes a bit aheAd but then we correct her and she's perfect. Baring in mind that she can she can sit, paw, stay, tunnel, leave it,take it, and I'm honestly only 11 but I understand not all dogs are like her so you are training your dog very well.
I have a 3 year old beagle, and I’m having a lot of trouble getting her to listen to me when I don’t have food. She’s already overweight (and I’m starting her on a track to resolve that problem) and I don’t want to encourage her with even more food but it’s the only way she listens to anyone.
Zak, it is so lovely to see inertia grow. It is really apparent from how tiny she is in the intro vs in the video. I have a 12 year old border collie called Toby who has begun to bark and snap (sometimes with lunging) when we go to leave the house. I am almost certain he will not bite us but it can be intimidating, and is worse when we leave the house in a rush. Do you have any suggestions?

I’m glad to see the struggles of a professional trainer and the time it takes to teach a puppy how to behave. My pup is 9 months old now, and much easier to communicate with. He seems to understand what I want, which doesn’t mean he will obey all the time. I no longer have training sessions with him, but I am consistent in my expectations and that seems to work.
29:55 I mean this is the most respectful way possible, but lol such a dork! I love that reaction when she responded to the dig 😂
I love how honest you are. And how kind and responsible you are towards inertia. Im loving your videos. Lots of love ❤
YESSS!! She caught the frisbee so many times!!! I am so invested in Inertia's journey, so proud when she caught that frisbee oh my goodness.
Zak, thanks for teaching about dog play! I’ve never had a dog or been around dogs much, but I’m getting a puppy soon, and this is sooooo helpful to me!
Flashcards! Brilliant!!!
Ah she's reaching that point where she completely forgets all the lessons 😂
Just like me in school
I can relate 😅
Love these videos. I got my Labrador the same month you got your Pupper. We have grown together since then. I helped train Labradors years ago but haven't had a puppy in years. So found Zach and we have grown together. Love your patience and ability to stay focused.on the task. Great help
Wow she did so good with the frisbee! My border collie is 5 months as well and loves playing with a frisbee. I'm just working on her catching it now. Thanks for the great training tips!!
Love the honesty and genuine heart in your content! Inertia is a lucky dog!
Lovely video as always . I love seeing interia grow up into a well loved and obedient dog.
My little puppy is a blessing always keeps me on my toes lol Mr George is the best, taking the 30 day training and its working wonders. Anersheria is a beautiful amazing Girl, much love
Hi there, you might not remember this video or never see this comment, but how’s your dog now, 6 mounts later?
Spoiler alert: she eventually becomes perfect
You just wait. By the time she hits 14 years she is going to be AMAZING.
Congratulations I’m on Inertia’s first frisbee catch!! Many more to come, I’m sure!!
I will be getting my new puppy on March 5, 2020! I feel so lucky to have come across your videos! I just received your book, watched at least 50 of your videos and became a Patron!! I amount of time and effort you put into these videos is AMAZING and I need to give you something for all the value you provide! Thanks so much!!- Caroline, NJ
shes such a gorgeous young pup
Good video !
When starting the journey with my SDit I was looking forward to take her to many places with 6 months old, just like the other handlers you see on IG.
Noo! My lab is 1 and I'm finally getting to say that we did huge progress with leash training and focus. Also dog encounters. I'm a first time handler and I'd never thought it takes so much time! But I'm.glad we worked on our bond that is so strong now and didn't rush because rushing can lead to washouts!
Love your videos so much they've helped me train my rescue dog yogi so well.
Scarlett Woodbridge yogi is such a cute name 💕
@@LisaGallegos aww thanks it suits him coz he's a sheepadoodle and literally looks like yogi bear
That was very exciting when Inertia caught the frisbee so many times! I'm so happy and proud
of her!😊🐶❤
I love and enjoy your videos, they're exceptional as always, very helpful with my Aussie training ❤️👌🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I think you are doing great. Puppies are hard to train. Everything is new and exciting to them, they get distracted easily. They are also eager to learn but , at least with my dog, it has to be when he is in the mood.. Your videos are so helpful. Thank you.
Thank you for your videos! A lot of dog parents out there need these.
Thank for the good laughs and comedic material!
Oh, such a good girl!! I can't wait to teach my girl to be just as good.
Was I the only one who cried when Inertia caught the frisbee??? 🥰🥰
I am learning to be more patient with my 2 year old rescue. Way better results than when I get frustrated and impatient.
Let's also appreciate how beautiful Zak's dining set is! The tsble and the chairs! Zak, if you see this, what furniture is that? Ashley? Lazy Boy?
I wanna find something like that too!🙏❤
Your dog training videos are fantastic as always. I am learning so much! I love working with my pups applying what you are teaching us! Thank you!🙏❤❤🙏😀😀
Watching Zak George train a dog is like watching Gordon Ramsay cook.
But better
Hey Zac, thanks for keeping me entertained during quarantine!
HI George, try teaching Inertia the names of her toys and then getting her to retrieve them. Our BC puppy picked this up quite quickly.
Love your videos so much😊❤️❤️
First Frisbee catch! Go Zak and Inertia!
She’s growing up so fast!
So helpful. She’s growing up to be a cutie!
Nobody:
Zak: " always encourage them even in the little things "
His thumbnail : " why my dog is SO far from perfect"
The leg weave was almost perfect well done!
These videos are so helpful thank you so much.
I don't have time to watch this right now but gotta give a like and a comment straight away! 😂😂 I'll be back
4:12 = my rough collie except if it had been my collie at least some of the roast would have been devoured LOL! I think I need to work on this.
Love the Frisbee as well; my collie can catch at least somewhat well or better when I throw it to her.
She got big from the last video i saw of her! WOW!
On a Wednesday?! I love it!🤩
I’m so happy she caught the frisbee 😭😭😭
I've got a twelve weeks old blue Merle border collie and after only one week of walking on leash, she stays by your side and doesn't pull at all. She sometimes goes a bit aheAd but then we correct her and she's perfect. Baring in mind that she can she can sit, paw, stay, tunnel, leave it,take it, and I'm honestly only 11 but I understand not all dogs are like her so you are training your dog very well.
Yayyy!!!! Nice catch inertia!!!
I have a 3 year old beagle, and I’m having a lot of trouble getting her to listen to me when I don’t have food. She’s already overweight (and I’m starting her on a track to resolve that problem) and I don’t want to encourage her with even more food but it’s the only way she listens to anyone.
Great work! I would love to see you teach Inertia to herd sheep some day!
