Billy the Kid couldn't have done everything history says he did. He was too busy making pictures. Hot Damn! every one has a newly discovered Billy the Kid photo. He was no outlaw, he was a Hollywood model
I bought a 1916 standing liberty quarter from a dealer's junk pile for $4.84! It is in vg condition with bold rims. The date is barely visible. Great, amazing things do happen occasionally although my find is extremely rare. I can't believe it happened to me!!!!!!!!!!
The photo is real. I own photographs, original tintypes, of many of the people in the photo in question. Some of the conclusions as the time it was taken and who some of the people are supposed to be are in error. I know this because I have extremely clear authentic photographs of the Kid, Sallie Chisum, Lily Casey, Frank McNab, Charlie Bowdre, John Middleton and John Tunstall. The man with the outstretched arm is not Tom Folliard, but Frank McNab and the man in the bolder hat is not Jim French, but John Tunstall. Nor is the picture of a wedding, it was probably taken as the crowd was gathering for one of their many dances. They had decided to play a little croquet while folks were in the process of arriving. The image was probably made by George W. Morgan who took many pictures of local people.
The guy in the sweater seems to be the center of attention. All eyes on him. If it's impossible to paste photos of known famous people and the age of the thing can be corroborated, then it could be. The sweater guy has something concealed underneath, looks like a pistol. The big guy is John Tunstall? this before the Lincoln County War? The guy pointing at "Billy" it's an act of homage. If it's real it would definitely explain something as that sweater guy, and notice the chicks in the picture are eyeing him , he has something, a menace...A bad boy come to life aura.
@@brianmallen8887 I think the Billy (sweater guy) has two croquet balls in his sweater and is maybe hiding one behind his back. The pointing is just youthful humor as in "look, he's cheating"
@@barragin9893 I'd rather know the truth than be right. That said, if it's real, what if it is. Isn't it kinda weird the way the people are spread out in the picture. Charley Boudry is way over there sitting on his horse with Manuelita standing next to him. Maybe it was a western thing to do with living on the "frontier." Though I wonder if people like being labeled like that- backward and primitive. But "Billy" is definitely concealing a pistol in that sweater. You can see the outline of it. I think that means the LCN was under way and everybody was expecting ambush at any moment. Maybe Billly had his Winchester rifle stashed under the floorboards of that shack nearby.
I own the photographs that Sallie L. Chisum collected during the LCW. She and Lilly Casey were planning to write a book in the future sometime. I bought the pictures in a local antique shop in 2006. Wonderful, clear tintypes of the Kid (2) the Regulators and all but one of Sallie's family. All her friends. I found the living relatives of Sallie Chisum and they told me that they had owned the collection and sold it in a yard sale. Their family had forgotten who the pictures were of.
I guess with several members of the regulators in one photo and the original photo of Billy being auctioned off at 2.3 million, I do not believe 5 million is out of the question for a historical photo with many regulators in the same tin type.
It seems this croquet version photo is not a casual snapshot but a special shot which taken by professional cameraman. Because it is very well composed, each person line up in a row.very well directed. I wonder if the person is real Billy the kid or no.
They said it was set up because they were having a wedding ceremony. The two people on horse were the ones getting married. Still the providence isn’t solid. So nobody is going to pay 5 million
The photo was probably taken by a tintyper named George W. Morgan. He was a very skilled photographer. I own several of his originals. All tintypes and small. The largest is of Sallie Chisum posed with her husband Wm. Robert. It is a 5x7.
I have a story about that sweater that Billy is wearing. It has the initials "PM" stitched in the lining. Experts think the sweater was the property of Pet Maxwell. I think that while Billy and Sallie were resting between dances that he got a chill and Sallie when inside her house and got her uncle's sweater that must have been hanging on a nail and gave it to the Kid and he kept it. Her uncle's name was Pitzer Miller, called P.M. . Billy must have been wearing Pitzer's sweater. It is about two sized to large for him.
they were heroes and outlaws at that time. so yes they would document stories and pictures, especially reporters. At that time they would have. how do you think we got so much history on Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday Etc. Don't want to debate just stating why is there not so much documentation on The Kid. He was around at the same time as the Earp Brothers, Doc Holliday, John Wesley Harding. And we know so much more of them then Billy
Could be a wedding, I guess, but I think it is a "baile" or a dance. Charlie and Manuela have just arrived to join in on the fun. The others are messing around playing croquet waiting for the music to start. The tall lady is Lily Casey, Sallie is shorter. She was "slight". That's Billy for sure and Frank MacNab is pointing.
I think the gathering was for a " baile" and not a wedding. A baile is a dance and they were very popular and Billy and the Regulators liked to attend them. They were a party and well attended.

I have seen five pictures of the Kid that are actually taken of him. The rest are not him at all.
I just watched a documentary on this guy, and it is his story that is important, not his photo.
BLZBOB
The public will determine that. The money says otherwise.
Okay?
That pic is authentic. Billy was attending a wedding. That picture brings tears to my eyes. I’m a huge BILLY THE KID FAN.

Yes, but that poor man went through hell to get that photo authenticated and it took a long, long time and lots of upfront cash.
Hes holding a gun in his left hand in his pocket too. If you look closely.
