You are right Jim.in my humble opinion they are the best I know and Ive been a Jazz fan since the late 50s.Here in the UK we still have some really good NO bands,and there are a few in Europe,but these are the best...
One of the many things I like about this band is that they do not blare. They play in a controlled disciplined way that is very effective. No one is trying to be heard above the others. Each player seems to be listening for the overall effect. Great ensemble playing and unique.

I've had the pleasure to play bass with many fine artists in dixieland and pop music for nearly 65 years. Saw them in New Orleans in May 2016 and was blown away. Very tight and tasty band. You can tell they love playing this music. Just awesome , the best out there today.
Erika lewis is phenominal singer she really makes this music pull you into this era...so iconic yet unique...just a very professional polished well seasoned group of old souls...you would have to really love this music to be as passionate as each musician clearly is...every instrument including the vocal chords are just pure dixy just gorgeous ...all old souls who never wanted their music or creativity to die...sometging mysterious and loveable about these perfectly wonderful brilliant stars...i hope they dont ever stop shining their light. Just heaven sent ...

This is the best of the lot! These musiciians out do all the others I've seen. The triumbone player here, Barnabus Jones fits with the group. I've seen numerous others play tb with this group, but Barnabus belongs with this group! Tuba Skinny forever!!

Erica Lewis has the most amazing voice, so unique, so her own. Not unlike a comparison to Bob Dylan, she creates her own genre. Watching her thump that bass, like an afterthought, just blows us away. Sorry I cannot name all the band members, but the brass and clarinet just smoke red hot. The fine looking man on the banjo, he too has this reedy tenor that just takes flight. Well, ran out of superlatives, Mr. Rathbun, too.

Anybody notice the Natchez didn't actually go anywhere!? Nevertheless, fantastic performance from Tuba Skinny. One of the most impressive aspects of their playing is they all begin on point. Shay gives them the count and that's it! they all get the intro spot on! No flubs, no frayed edges. From there it's just sublime and tight as you can ask for in a jazz band. So often one skins on thru like channel surfing. One cannot do that with Tuba Skinny. They are tight,
Modulated and altogether enchanting.

I am a composer and I know quality music, eleven years since this group of extraordinary performers started, which in 2020 caused me addiction to their descriptive art of a jazz Preservation hall, which I know, for the harmonic and well-directed by the trumpet leader, I never get tired of imagining them in New Orleans, with the delight of hearing the special voice of a cheerful Erika but very close to the sensitivity of Billy Holiday, and I don't know why they have built so many variables that I do not capture repetitions and if I design, a hug for everyone from Mexico (The saxophone sounded good)
I'm not a composer but I couldn't agree with you more I've been normally I can only get thru 1 song of this style but I listen to these guys almost every day! I appreciate when someone like yourself confirms what I know I'm hearing
