      @Jay62812 had to edit my post...but yes he played 3 years...but the point remains the same...players career are longer because they come in the league at a much younger age.... bringing up the small minority of players who did go to college doesn't change that. Back then it was common for the majority to play 3-4 years which made their pro careers much shorter.
      This not everyone but the vast majority. Like he said, back then 10 years was old because most players would be 32/33 after 10 and leaving their primes...now players be 28/29 after 10 seasons and extend their careers easier by load managing

      The rules for defending were completely different in the 80s/90s. Kevin Durant would not have been the same player in that era that he is today. Example: Dennis Rodman would have taken KD right out of his game every time they met. Gary Payton was a point guard - Kevin Durant is a power forward. They never would have directly played against each other except on switches.

      @ Correct, and he had several highlight plays to make it happen. Great scorers will score regardless, what makes a great defender is how hard you make them work to get it and how that extra effort can have an adverse effect on the rest of the team and gameplan. The objective is to make a great scorer 'earn' every basket, there's difference from scoring on several open layups, vs scoring on several layups in traffic where every time you score you end up on the ground, that starts to drain you after awhile.

      Kevin Durant would have been shut down in Gary Payton's era. GP was a point guard and never would have been on KD who plays small/power forward. However, when KD went up against guys like Rick Mahorn, Karl Malone, Charles Oakley, and Dennis Rodman he would have gotten shut down (in that era). The game today is soft by 1980s/1990s standards.

    Kd would be good in any era I think but in the 90s he’d have to put up with hand checking and hard defense, he’d need to gain muscle for sure
    Also his carrying just wouldn’t go over imo. Anytime he’d go for a crossover he’d be called for a carry

    • @50Nobody50
      @50Nobody50 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      He'd be alright. His offensive game transcends the style of play. McHale played in the post against all the bigs and scored at will, and he's even lankier. Durant is not down in the paint, he'd be killing with his midrange and high post turn.
