As a lady with absolutely no experience with tools and just getting into construction work, this video was perfect! Thank you for the help
I'm a 16 year old girl who wants to get into mechanics and maybe even engineering but I've never had anyone to teach me how to do small tasks. I can't even use a drill properly, so I feel like I have a huge disadvantage every time I'm in class. this really helped me get a better basic understanding of it all
Nehla, I have some recommendations for you. IF you can, ask a cousin or neighbor to teach you how to do some simple repairs so you can familiarize yourself with basic tools. Join a home-maintenance class, if there's one around you. Sometimes you can find a workshop designed "for women", and while I think that's quite sexist, the advantage of those courses is that the instructor will not assume you know things already, so the lessons will start from zero. There's a lot you can learn that way! If you're still in school, see if there's an engineering, robotics, woodwork, or similar club or course. Those tend to be very collaborative and fun. Finally, subscribe to TH-cam channels that cater to DIYers. There's a lot of knowledge and experience being generously shared online, take advantage of that. And when YOU become an expert, please pay it forward. Remember what it felt like to not know these things, and teach others so they can feel empowered too!
I can relate man I'm 16 too
Get some wood, plastic, and sheet metal along with some bits and a drill and start practicing.
For years I owned only a small hammer and a large hammer and seemed to do just fine. Then my father in law bought me a phillips and flat head screwdriver and the heavens opened up. It made me the man I am today.
Forwarded your video to my son in law. Thanks.
This is hands down the best video out there on the most BASIC and most VERSATILE kit. I watched it... watched some others... and then came back to watch this again. Thanks!!!!
Great selection of tools for a starter kit. The only items I'd suggest adding would be a flashlight, electrical tape & duct tape.
EXCELLENT video Jeremy!! I gave both my girls these very items when they each left the nest. We were just the three musketeers as they grew up in their early years because their dad took a different path. It was great for all of us in the end. We were happier. Anyway... (SQUIRREL 😂) I was no where near as handy as you but I still think every young women should have the basics. They both have husbands now but still have their "mom tools" and are better at fixing a leaky sink or toilet than their husbands. LOL (They both married WONDERFUL men!!! I love them dearly!) Thank you for doing this. You guys are just amazing!!!! God Bless ~Lisa
Thanks, as a widow with home repairs rearing their ugly heads, this helps quite a lot!
I worked at home depot for 4 years...while it wasn't great money the knowledge I got out of it made it worth it there's almost no job around the house I don't feel comfortable doing myself.
Very Precise, Basic , To the Point & Cost Effective List of Tools. Video deserve Like Button to be hit... :)
Best video I've watch pretty straight forward with the tools
Thanks for taking the time and effort to put this together. It's really helpful!
Perfect basic kit; great gift for a new home owner; I would only add a wire cutter/stripper for those quick lamps and ceiling fan installs... thank you for the advice
I always found the "ridge" or groove on the level helpful when checking something round, like pipe.
Paint spatula I find to be an awesome and very useful tool for anyone..
when I had few bucks and started my first tool kit I used a shoe box to store my tools at the begining would rather buy a couple more tools with the money I would spend on a tool box. nice video with a mix of a little bit of tools u can do a lot.
Thanks Jeremy! I'm now happy to know that I have it all ...except the drill. I've gotta get a drill! I appreciate you doing something so basic. I'm a single woman and have been learning to do things myself...except for drilling. A video like this was really helpful! Cate
+CjC - 👍🏻 This video was exactly for that reason. Glad it was helpful.
Put together my own tool set over the past 6 months and keep it in my trunk so the boys don't "borrow " items that never find their way home. Today I got my first light duty chainsaw...never used one before but can't wait to learn! Thanks for sharing your wisdom.
Good idea, my son has a motorcycle, and whenever I need a tool, its gone..
Great video. I also find it is always best to have a set of allen wrenches on hand. There is that one project that you need a set for and you don't have any.
Appreciate the help Jeremy. I need to organize what I have, finally buy a toolbox & plan for more. Good stuf :)
Hi. just to share from what I'm learning (I'm a cyclist and do my own maintenance and small tasks around the house)... I can file flat/4-way's for a sharp edge.
I really love everything that is mentioned in it.they deal with a very interesting topic for me thank you brother..
This was so helpful to me! Thanks a lot!
Good advice. It never worked for me to get the assembled tool kit with all the little divots for the pieces because when I lost a few, the replacements weren't the right size. They are very reasonably priced, though, and have worked for me as far as quality. Now days, the cheap tools are actually pretty good quality.
Did you make a video on your car tool kit? It would be very helpful.
Thanks! I really need this information!
Thanks Jeremy. Found out why my tools are always a mess. :D Missing out on a good toolbox.
Thanks, really helpful info.
I was going to suggest a pipe wrench for a basic kit but then I saw your large grooved pliers. Such a useful tool as long as they use the directional tool the right way ;) For someone putting together their first kit, it is probably best to buy all these types of tools during Black Friday.
Thanks! I like how minimal it is.
Loved this video! Looking forward to the next set of tools, what to buy next if you've got those.
Good stuff ! Gotta start somewhere !
Four-in-hand rasp/file; assorted sand paper; x4 set of C clamps; magnetic tray holder; headlamp; hacksaw; pry bar; 3-in-1 oil, WD40; knee pads; work gloves; safety glasses.
The best screwdriver it's a screwdriver with swichable heads like i had, u can put a diferent one at will without worying buying another screwdriver
Comes with some down sides;
You can easily mis-place bits
Switching between flat head and Phillips can be irritating
Usually don't have the same length.
I love mine and its flexibility, it came with a vast array of bits that takes up next to no space, but I will be grabbing a decent dedicated Phillips and flat head soon.
Nice video. Would add a saw and an axe as well. I do have a drill, and use it for everything from hanging pictures to assembly flat pack furniture. *Handywoman*
Thank you so much!
Thanks, and it is a greats tools in order to take n keep to make a house
Excelente.
Thank you!
good stuff...cheers
That hand drill is good. It have level attached to it. Do you have hand drill recommendations that have similar feature??
That Ryobi drill has to be from the 80s
Probably was. It was a hand me down that has long since been retired 😂
@@Guildbrookfarm haha I was gonna say, I haven’t seen those in prob 15 years at least
is that adjustable wrench metric or standard? HA!!
good video. keep them coming.
Good video! one thing I would add to my truck tool box is mechanics wire, very handy when muffler or tailpipe is dragging.
Great idea
This video is great I would add a box cutter. It can be used for a lot of things
Interessante video, ik ben ook vaak met handgereedschap bezig💪
Zip ties and duct tape
good video - thank you
That helps
unboxing de Toolbox :D
Like how you called channel lock pliers a wrench...
not even tongue and groove pliers
👍🏾
I'd personally swap the screwdrivers for a ratchet screwdriver with bits, you could also use the bits on the drill.
+Clayman - Yep. 👍🏻
what size of needle nose pliers do you suggest?
8" std profile, 6 or 8" long nose needle
I've got tons of tools and no cordless screwdriver. It is needed only for building or intensive woodworking. For a home toolkit it is not needed unless you've got a house
Dude we're putting the band back together
Dude this band never broke up
One might add to this a razor knife and side cutting pliers, perhaps even 1/4 and 5/16 nut drivers. You really should have specified the #2 Philips screwdriver.
What is a tork?
The tightest of the attachment being tightened.
@@franciscocoronado5966or it could be a tool. Torque or Torx? Torque is clamping force. Torx is a type of bit.
JD
Sir, why not there's a cutting tool..
.
Wranglerstar recons that Ryobi items are RUBBISH!!
Not saying I agree, just would like your opinion?
I’ve been using the ones I inherited for 10 years. The batteries don’t last longer than 18 months but these are pretty old versions of what you can get today. If I were buying a new set of cordless tools I’m not sure what brand it would be because most all of them are made in the same place now. The branding is just marketing and profit.
Nah, they're a cheaper brand. They won't have tons of power but good for peopke who dont use the tools often.
Don't cheap out on the screwdrivers... cheap ones will make your life miserable (esp Phillips). Buy something German if you can afford it.
I recommend PB Swiss, I actually look for things to fix because the screwdrivers fit so well, very satisfying.
