Greatest thing I ever did (as a musician) was leaving Erie in 83 for Hollywood. Erie gave me a foundation. Kali gave me a career. My friends out here trip on the Fieldhouse era. A ice rink 3 miles from my home on 38th street was like growing up next to the Filmore. RiP 🫡
Love it, thanks for sharing! I'm guessing at least part of the video is 1985. At the 3:45 mark, in front of (then) Academy HS, that's a MK2 Jetta, which hit US streets in '85.
I am current resident of erie pa! This is pretty cool. Lots of downtown as mentioned in previous comments. At 1:41 is E.12th st, just after the east ave bridge
My dad went to Strong Vincent. Grandpa worked at Hammermill Paper ( correct name?) and the steel mill. He was so very patient and kind. Grandma owned Rabbitt's beauty salon and made the best homemade sauce and pasta in the world:) Her parent's were from Chiati, Italy. I went to Kearsarge Elementary and Chestnut Hill Elementary. God bless everyone!
I worked at the GE plant in 1977 , Graduated from Strong Vincent High , Gridley . Emerson schools and Gannon College 1977 to 1978 then moved to Florida.
This is great. I lived there in 1st and 4th and 5th grades in the early 70s. My dad was from there. G and G lived at 5th and Cascade. We lived on Young Rd. And on Ruth Avenue. And on Cherry St. I like Erie ALOT. Ive lived in Palm Beach Fl since 79. Went to college in NYC and Pasadena, CA ( performing arts) Thanks for this video. Much appreciated.
Small world... I went to Chestnut Hill then Kearsarge in the early 70s too. Lived on Cherry St near 54th. We might have ridden the same school bus to Kearsarge as my route went along Young Road. I was in the last class at Kearsarge before they closed it. Jan Telega, Jamie Ferrar, Mr. Baird...
Brenda Here, I was born in Erie and unfortunately left at age 24…I miss Erie and Everyone so much❤️✨ East 4th street, St. Patrick’s School and Church, Gannon, The Peninsula, etc. 🙋🏻♀️☮️💜✨
We are only a film transfer service. We certainly wouldn't have the time to research the thousands of films we receive and transfer. That's the main reason why we post them here on TH-cam. People from these places and times post first-hand comments. That's better than we could ever do. Lots of 'narration' in the comments below. :)
Actually, this was someone else's silent home movie film from way back then. We are just a film transfer company that transfers films to video. We almost never have any information on the films we transfer and hope some kindly folks on TH-cam might be familiar with such areas and comment, which does happen now and then!

Anyone have any photos or film of the "Harborcreek Mall"? I would love to see it when it was up and running!

Grew up in Lawrence Park. Moved to Florida for college in 1979 and never returned.
the opening shot looks like back to the future
Hey - I'm interested in licensing a little of this footage. Do you know who owns it?
Yes, We own it here. Please contact us via the email at the end of the video. Thanks!
The Barbados at 2:55 on Buffalo rd in Wesleyville is no longer there. Still a pizza place though!
How about narrating your next video?

Nothing much has changed. Downtown is a dump.
Fr
100% facts.
@@DmnYankee right, but they are turning Erie into a Smart City. This is not good.
Down town Erie was great years ago🥲
This is such a great video of historic Erie! If anyone is looking for more tours of places in and around Erie, check out our page!
2:22 Wesleyville Elementary School on Willow Street.
Strong Vincent class of 86
Doesn't look a whole lot different to me.
Drive through those areas now!!! 🤣looks like shit!
0:10 Save the clock tower
Sounds like you have live feed on that would be nice if while you're filming you could tell the people what they're looking at...
