Around the hour 9 minute mark a question about a 100 year old orchard. I would like to see what a 100 yrs. Old orchard looks like. Raintree nursery states their rootstock . Williamette nursery also
I have a question I have a apricot tree I just purchased from nursery two years ago but this summer the tree grew a yellow smooth cherry tasting fruit and on same branch there was apricots that were 3 times bigger and had different leaves a d flower color do you know what might have happens
Some rootstocks sucker and will shoot up branches which if left unpruned can at times out compete top grafted on cultivar tree. What you describe sounds like a graft was fixed on a branch instead of trunk. Some trees will be used as root stock different from grafted. If you want to try to look it up to confirm, your rootstock was likely cherry plum/myrobalan plum. It is a plum rootstock compatible with apricots and almonds. It makes fruits of variable colors but yellow is one of them. It is listed as partial incompatible so maybe that is what happened.
Great extensive information in the video. Thank you for this great work. Stay blessed
