I don't know how much it weighed but the 6 inch x 9 inch cake we used on this one is chocolate butter cake, definitely heavier than a sponge cake. I don't recommend sponge cake for sculpture cakes 'coz it would be very difficult. It's like slicing air, it's too soft.
For crumb coating the cake, you may, but you may not get the same finish after covering with fondant. Especially if you you need to fill gaps on the cake, because whip cream is too soft to carry fondant. I would recommend using buttercream. Thanks for asking. Glad to be of help.
Hi. You may or you may not add tylose powder in fondant. In my case, I add tylose powder to better manage the fondant's behavior especially when I'm making fondant figures like the guy in the sofa and the TV to firm it up quickly and avoid unnecessary deformation of the figure during handling. I don't add tylose powder in the fondant I use to cover the cake.
The size of this sofa is approximately 4 inch wide and 9 inch in length. The cake size before I cut the cake into a sofa is 6 x 9 inch and around 1.75 inch thick.
Lovely

Hello what is the overall weight of the cake when done??

Plus, fondant is heavy. Sponge cake would be too soft to be able to carry the fondant.
Can we use whip cream
