You can loot the mobs no matter where they die. You just have to do a little fancy jumping, hard to explain in text, but you can jump and "stick" to the side of the hill and loot the hard to reach bodies. I normally find it easily to hit the jump with mount. (you start the jump from the left if you are facing towards the hill).
