- V dnešní videorecenzi srovnáváme dva modely kytarových komb Vox, která mají obě v názvu AC30, ale v praxi jsou velmi odlišná. V bodech se zde dočtete základní důvody, proč zvolit celolampovou variantu a proč naopak sáhnout po levnější hybridní verzi.

It's a shame we still don't have a good comparison. Plug your guitar into a loop pedal, the output into an A/B switch and into 2 amps WITH IDENTICAL SETTINGS. Record a phrase and switch between the two amps. Perfect comparison!
I really don't get it either. It's a cheap pedal (ABY) today and I think it's a must have today in the 21st century. I have it at home, I don't use it often, but when I need to compare something, it is irreplaceable and practical.

I have owned this VR and the only time the difference becomes obvious is when you really crank an AC30 (if you have the space,,,) it gets sweeter. The AC30VR is still very very good but at really high volumes you get just a bit more warmth and sweetness from the all tube one. However, the AC30VR is much lighter, looks exactly the same, takes pedals, under half the price...and for 90% of situations will do the job just fine!!
Maybe a tube preamp tube overdrive pedal would do the job.

I'm stunned at how good the vr sounds. It sounds different than the cx2, but if that's the tone you want, it's such a great option.

I listened to this before I read which was which. It takes a careful ear to tell in a mix. The VR is a great value.
I wish you would have used an A/B Box to switch from amp to amp, that way you could try to dial the exact same tones in on both amps. Switching plugs from amp to amp doesn't allow you to get a fair comparison. I want to hear if the two amps can dial in all the exact same tones, with the same amount of overdrive, and volume.

The C2X sounds warmer and with more tones. Unstead, the VR has a great Vox sound.
I prefer the all tube one.
I have the VR and the CC2 ... love them both!
Can you play the vr quietly? I’m thinking of buying one and I live in an apartment so I don’t want to blast my neighbor’s ears off
@@hmm4959 Yep you can play it quiet ... but the shine on botht he VR2 and the CC2 wore off quick. I sold them both about 3 weeks after I made the post and have been playing Oranges - DT head, Rocker 15 Terror head, and a Rocker 32 exclusively since then. The Rocker 15 Terror is the ultimate bedroom amp (IMHO) as the tone maintains from 15W all the way down to 1/2W and @ its lowest setting (Bedroom/Half) you can't hear it between the bedroom and living room in my son's 1BR apartment.

@@chrisdee5032 I did sell all the Oranges! But no Blackstars - Been playing a Bassbreaker 30R exclusively for the past 9 months and just picked up a Mesa Boogie Fillmore 50W combo. I use a pair of Seismic 1x12s loaded with Warehouse Veteran 30s and a Mojotone 2x12 with the same speakers as a back-up. Sold all my other amps/cabinets.

the ac30VR sounds better to me but no way to head to head compare amps. The optimum tone for each amp depends on settings to a degree not just being turned on and everything set at 5. If you can spare a gran then get the CSX if you only can spend 550 get the VR. You'll be happy with your new amp either way

I actually prefer the tone of the ac30vr , it sounds more responsive and less muddy :) think am defo going to get myself one :D
I have a VR and I am so pleased with it, it sounds great, and from this video, there is only a noticeable difference in sound when the amp is played cleaner. The CX2 is warmer when clean, whereas the VR has slightly less lower end frequency. I highly recommend the VR. It cleans up really well when on the OD channels and the OD is actually, pretty nice. I love it!

the VR has a little VR tag on the bottom right so seeing as there isn't one on the amp on the right, the right is the C2X and the left is the VR
Which one was which?
I liked the one of the left more because it sounded a bit cleaner with a smoother midrange, while the one of the right sounded harsher and saggier. The left one sounds like a Marshall almost.

Hernan Bovo Because I don't have both amps, I can't answer if the volume is the same on both. But from basic experience, most people are going to mic the amp before going into the PA, so a slight volume difference won't matter; unless you're planning on projecting your sound straight from the amp without a mic/PA, So what's most important is that they can get the same sounds/tones. The PA will take care of the volume. =)

The VR has a ‘VR’ logo at the bottom-right of the tolex grille... Neither of those amp had that??? 🤷🏻♂️
Oh fuck...you are right, anyway the one in the left is really the VR (you can listen when he clutch the OD button), and about the AC30 C2X well...I never heard one but, that one sounds pretty neat.

I disagree. Yes they could have mic'ed up the amps up exactly the same, and played with a flat EQ but to me that's besides the point. The idea is to get the best sounding set up with each amp for us to make an informed decision and with that in mind, as much as I wanted to love the AC30VR its just got that fizzy high end that I find with a lot of hybrid amps and can't get over! looks like the shopping goes on for me :/
It is Cardigans - Good Horse, yes. But the way he plays it faster reminds me of another song. Much more popular. I know this is difficult to guess but I would really appreciate if someone could figure it out...

Výborné video musím len chváliť, veľmi informatívne a čo je veľmi príjemné, recenzent stručne a jasne prezentuje výrobok a nie SEBA ako je bohužiaľ na tube /nemyslím lampu:-)/ až príliš častý jav...
Ku komentárom, že mikrofóny nie sú umiestnené stejne a tak video nestojí za nič...Kto nie je hluchý tak mu tie zvuky musia byť jasné...BTW osobne mi je bližší polotranďák/pololampáč:-) , oveľa širšie možnosti a skvelý zvuk, pričom cena je oveľa nižšia ako je zvukový rozdiel. Inak ja love lampáče:-) ale nie som lampový maniak...

VR is the one on his right, out left. The VR has a little "VR" logo in the bottom left of the amp.
so, which one is the VR? left or right? And it´s an hybrid, right?
Even though there desnt seem to be one on this one. The triangles on all of the custom sesries are lighter (the grill) and the VR has a thicker "VOX" logo
The AC30 C2X all the way, more natural and rich tone, warmer, more responsive. The vr sounds good, and there is a difference in price between both.
So the VR isn't either of them, unless the logo is hidden behind the microphone of the left hand one

It's a really small logo on the bottom right, i looked on the vox website.
Mmm... the overdrive is not the main feature on a good AC30, the AC30VR is a good amp but it doesn't have the classic tremolo and the spring reverb (the reverb on the AC30VR is digital) that many players look on a AC30, which defines its great sound.
What is the language? It doesn't sound 100% Polish to me....could be wrong.

C2x is much warmer and has more space in it. Picking response is much better and cleans up better.

The VR is a good alternative but NOTHING sounds like the real thing. When he plays the AC30 at 3:07, it's just the perfect tone. Punchy, warm with that spread and grit and tube "spit" that only the real thing can provide.

Hmmmm the c2x does sound better but does it sound an extra £400 better? Probably not, might be having a serious think about getting the ac30vr soon...
I only ask because this is the first video I've seen comparing the VR to the AC30C2
Even my AC30CCH (head) is a heavy beast at about 50 lbs (~20kg).
I actually prefer the sound of the VR. It sounds skankier.
The VR sounds good but more dull to my ear. Its sounds like the C2x but a bit more muffled. Just in my personal opinion.

u cant compare 4 channels from the ac 30 c2 with the vr, also the dinamic makes the sound very diferent between this amps, specially cuz the vr sound distorted in normal if u up so hard

They mic'd a different place on each amp, and the speakers are voiced differently. Thus, they were bound to sound different. It honestly kind of defeats the purpose of the video.
In my humble opinion, the only difference between these two amplifiers is the price! hahahahaha
It could possible that bulb amps take better the effects on your pedal chain. And for professional performance is the key.

IMHO AC30VR sounds better.
sorry everyone this review is invalid. look at the Mic placement. they are angled differently. there is a hug difference in tone just by the angle of a Mic. don't bass your purchase on this.

Hola saludos Fernando KorNtes justamente yo pensaba cambiar mi ac30vr por un ac 15 c1, pero según tu experiencia que diferencias encuentras en volumen y calidad de sonido?
@@DavidMartinez-zo5nj mira de sonido es más potente el 15 te pega una patada bestial. No llegas al tono ac 30 pero es una maravilla. En cuanto a versatilidad el 30vr le da patadas al 15. A mi gusto es más redondo el sonido del 30vr. El 15 lo encuentro más nazal. Si el 30vr tuviera el reverb del 15, sería un golazo. En cuanto a poner pedales, el 15 rompre rápido por tema de ser valvular a full. Sus cuidados son delicados. El 30vr es tan bueno como un valvular full pero no es de cuidados ni regulaciones al bias como el otro. El 30vr con pedales es una delicia. Es mas regulable equalizando a mi gusto. Sobre todo si vas en vivo y microfoneado. Yo uso el canal clean en treble 13 (pm) bass 9 (am) y volumen full. Dejo el reverb en 10 (am) el cut 10 (am) y el master en 13 (pm). Cuando hablo de am\pm me refiero al sentido agujas del reloj. Uso el over del mismo amp en canal 2. Le pongo pedales y es una maravilla. Le pongo multiefectos y es genial. Yo uso el 30 en casa, estudio y en vivo.
Si quieres un amp full válvulas y que tengas un sonido redondo, busca un laney cub10 ó 12 . son maravillosos. Yo tengo un cub10 y es una maravilla. Por el valor de un 15c te compras un laney y te compras más pedales o una multiefectos buena.
Yo te animo a seguir con el 30vr. Además que son una reliquia. Por lo menos acá en chile, no se venden más hace unos años y son muy buscados. Si lo mantienes bien, en unos meses o años podrías sacar más más dinero al vender.

@@DavidMartinez-zo5nj si usas telecaster, el 30 te va mejor. Ya que su crunch es brutal. En el 15c con tele es mucho más nazal
@@fernandokorntes6392 Muchas gracias por tu experiencia me es de gran ayuda todo lo que me comentas, me preguntaba precisamente si el ac 15 al tener un solo parlante perderia "ambiente" y rompería mas rápido, pues en ocasiones si uso delays y reverbs enfocados a un sonido ambient, además coincido contigo cuando dices que con pedales va de lujo el VR, por último que opinas de hacerle algunas mejoras al VR como cambiar el bulbo de stock por uno mejor o los celestion que trae por otros modelos celestion??
