Really like the old drill press. That will have many years of use left in it! The older tools are build so much heavier than the cheap throw away stuff you get today. Your channel is one of my favorites!!

I have learnt a lot from your videos over the years Gerolf, so many projects and a very wide range of skills is unusual in a person. What's even more unusual is that you have talent for talking about it and making it interesting and can even use English which is not your own language to articulate the bon-ami. Dealing with theft and interference is something that isn't like diagnosting machinery and we all struggle with it and you are not alone in this respect. Keep making it an unattractive target and I have put a couple of apple air tags in the tools that they would probably steal.
i wish the people who made these tools were still alive to this day to look and see how their hard work is being treated with love and respect even to this day.
A small hack to improve the fume collection of your plasma cutter is to cover the non cutting areas with either thin plate or a welding blanket. Also I note the distance from the table to the water pan. Most setups I have seen or used have the water pan quite close to the table. Not sure if this is for convenience or effectiveness, but it is easier to recover small parts that would fall through the grates. Keep up the great videos.
Having visited Deutschland several times I am very surprised by the law breaking and garbage dropping that you experienced. Everything in Germany always seemed so neat and clean to me with the possible exception of some of the S-Bahn terminals. Love your channel and like many others I'm always looking forward to your next upload.

Please don't ever stop making videos. I always watch them through, always interesting and right up my alley of expertise. I don't care about the video quality, the content is what keeps me glued. You can make the best video production but it's more the content that gets views. I started thumbs up, I should do it more often to all the creators I watch. I would Patreon but I have so many makers I watch, I would go broke if I tried to support them all. Wish there was another way quality makers such as yourself could cash in better.

I still have my dad's old drill press which he got from my grandfather as payment for installing some windows in their house. It was incomplete and he had to fabricate the parts necessary to make it whole. It was painted grey and red in color. He painted the parts he made red to remind his father in law how much work it took to make his 'payment' work. My grandfather was a VERY cheap guy. LOL. I really like the look of the wood stand/table adapter. It is very functional for holding drill bit sets and such during use. I've been following your channel for almost a decade now. I share your same spirit and always challenge myself to build whatever contrivance I'm building at the time, from as much as possible, scavenged parts from discarded appliances and equipment. In fact, half of my projects are inspired by mechanisms found during tearing down broken and discarded items. Sadly, due to a string of unfortunate events and relationships, I no longer have a business or a workshop. I am from the UK, but went to Australia for the first time at the beginning of this year for 6 weeks. Great Place to visit, my one tip is HIRE A CAR. We Brits live in a small country, Australia is on another level size wise. It's just too damm large to get around easily, they have very efficient modern public transport, but getting used to that takes a while. I think Australia is bigger than the USA, so gives you an idea of the size!

A lovely job with the drill press. The only thing I would possibly have done differently would be to add a couple of mounts to it to include removable goose-neck work lights.

great to see you add new life to that old drill pres great job. I like the disassembling and use of old discarded equipment. I never heard of anyone having too many tools each new tool opens up new opportunities and possibilities. Even being robbed is a new opportunity and points out unseen errors and faults which we never noticed because we were too busy thinking about the next idea that is more exciting. I have to remind myself to keep moving over each obstacle some times fast some times slow but always forward.
Miele really is the best. Heavy though, getting my 98Kg washing machine one up to 4th floor by stairs was no fun but it's worth it, it actually lasts a long time and is worth repairing instead of just dumping it.
Your machining for the torch holder looks very good, it looks like a lot of fun and I bet it is very satisfying to successfully create something from a block of metal.
Having something stolen is the worst feeling ever! and sometimes the damage they cause in getting in costs more than the financial loss of the theft. Maybe having a small attractive power tool with a tracker inside might be a good thing, although I hope your security upgrades are enough to discourage these scummy thieves in the future. I really enjoyed the video, fabricating is one of my favourite jobs in my workshop, the housing is awsome and looks although it is an original part. I have a MPCNC machine for wood milling, your video has inspired me to remake some of the smaller 3d printed parts in aluminium, I would love to make some 3D printed metal parts but the filament and debinding service costs a fortune and so I will mill them on my manual mini mill.
If I could, I would like be a student for my entire life. I love learning and trying new things. I get the feeling that you share that mindset. If I can ever go to Germany, I would really like to meet you!

Dear me! Gerolf, You have grown! Both as an inventor & tinkerer, but also as video creator. I'm a fan of yours for quite some time, as your ideas have always appealed to me a lot, but I used to think that some of your creations although functional were a bit dodgy and lacking in quality or appearance, but I have to admit that you've gained professionalism, you're making much better and prettier stuff then before. It's so nice to see that you're always improving! I also really like the new slightly more personal formula of the videos, which are more than just repairathons. Huge kudos! Also - though I am a smidge spoiled with newer technology (not a great fan of 60-70's tools, which very super durable, but much more bulky and less ergonomic then modern ones)I think I share your passion and live objectives. Of repair, reuse and create instead of buy. I've been keen on many areas, to some degree on electronics, computers, audio equipment, but lately drifted very much towards automotive and mechanics, currently working mostly on bringing back to live my 33 year old Toyota 4x4, also making a ton of improvements to make it future proof for years to come. I remember you solving issues with your Subaru, and I was thinking - ohhh that's my field of expertise! I could have helped! My workshop is very small and modest, yet very well organized and it gives me what I need to do. I'm currently located in eastern Poland, not very attractive region, but I'm a frequent traveler and i move living places from time to time too. Not really recommending this region for a journey, though should you be in the area - feel invited. Also, will gladly join you in your lab, to help, to chat and to x-change experiences and knowledge. Love the fact that you re-use items that are thrown away and turn them into reusable items. Unfortunately we live in a world where people will pray on others just to make a few bucks and not bothered about what it has taken money time work to be able to buy the items. On a good note keek doing what you do best making great videos and sharing your knowledge with use all.

I get tremendous vicarious pleasure watching your videos. I'm a frustrated tinkerer who would dearly love to have a workshop of some kind so that I could make things. I am in the process of creating a corner of my living room as a place where I can work on refurbishing older computers which I will upgrade to run on Linux and then give them away to people in need of a computer. I look forward to watching you work on your various projects. I'm sorry to hear about the issues you have been facing regarding the break-ins and the littering. I don't know what the petty crime rate has historically been in Germany, but it does surprise me somewhat that littering has become a problem - I always thought that of all European countries. the UK was by far the scruffiest in terms of littering, which has always been near epidemic proportions.
Yes the 🇬🇧 is a disgrace these days. I can remember that I'd get a clip around the ear if I'd dropped litter in the 60's, certainly a right telling off from my mum and dad. These days if you remonstrated with someone, even an 8 year old the least you'd get is being told to F off.
I completely understand where you're coming from. Its also happening SO often in the States. 2 weeks ago I had someone break into my shop and stole $15000 worth of stuff. The stuff he didn't steal, he broke. It's so frustrating. And if we're being completely honest, there's no valid excuse for it. Drug addicts are a HUGE problem, and we are constantly pretending like it's not. If I'm ever near Germany, I would LOVE to meet you, as I have a handful of inventions I'd love to get your insight on. About the tumbler/dryer. The Lawnmower Lady (yt channel) is using hers to tumble and clean rusty gastanks. I think that's a brilliant Idea. Just put it on cold, and seal the tank very good... Works fine! Of course you have to stuff some old cussion to pack it tight in there😉also tumble some smoll metal parts could be handy in there🤔😏. Betonmischmaschine geht natürlich auch aber ich finde die sind immer so laut😎😂

The belt cover is 10/10 looks great. There is some irony in the scrap you repair now being desirable enough to cause a break in, people suck. Stay safe, keep up the good work. And protect whats yours! I had an idea to stop people from drinking beers and leaving their cans at the back door of our shop. We cant do anything drastic but I want to put up a sign that says "RADIATION LEVELS NORMAL" a subtle threat that there is radiation, and letting them decide what normal is.

Best wishes from Tasmania, Australia. A guy like you could make a wonderful life over here. Here in Tassie it's a bit like the Black Forest used to be years ago. Rural, lots of trees and fields. We get the 4 seasons (unlike most of Australia), and the big plus is that there is almost no crime. With your skillset, I expect that you'd have no problems gettiing a work visa, and then citizenship, which is what I did when I moved here from a deteriorating UK 20 years ago. Honestly, I wish I'd left Europe sooner! I've been various places in the World, and to make a life, Tasmania takes some beating! Whatever you do when you come over to Aussie, for pity's sake don't just go to Sydney... the big cities in Australia are all the same and the worst parts. Go bush and meet some REAL Aussies! Just a quick comment about your machining... Watching all those passes with the milling machine made me wonder whether you'd considered simply using your 3d printed part to make a mould, and then use this to cast the part in aluminium. Did you think of this option?

Gerolf, love your videos. Too bad about the break ins and crime. Unfortunately it happens all too often here in the USA also. You probably knew this but if you have your water table right under the cutting torch ( mine material when I’m cutting actually touches the water) the cutting smoke is actually minimal. That being said I’m currently working on a hood above the table that is going to pull the rest of the fumes from the shop. The problem here in Minnesota in the winter is it gets extremely cold like -20 to -40F cold. And when you suck the fumes out, you have to have make up air into the building which means you have to let the cold air in. Good luck!

I've been following your channel for almost a decade now. I share your same spirit and always challenge myself to build whatever contrivance I'm building at the time, from as much as possible, scavenged parts from discarded appliances and equipment. In fact, half of my projects are inspired by mechanisms found during tearing down broken and discarded items.
Sadly, due to a string of unfortunate events and relationships, I no longer have a business or a workshop.
But I would absolutely love the opportunity to sit down and have a beer with you if you ever make it over this side of the pond!

I am from the UK, but went to Australia for the first time at the beginning of this year for 6 weeks. Great Place to visit, my one tip is HIRE A CAR. We Brits live in a small country, Australia is on another level size wise. It's just too damm large to get around easily, they have very efficient modern public transport, but getting used to that takes a while. I think Australia is bigger than the USA, so gives you an idea of the size!

great to see you add new life to that old drill pres great job. I like the disassembling and use of old discarded equipment. I never heard of anyone having too many tools each new tool opens up new opportunities and possibilities. Even being robbed is a new opportunity and points out unseen errors and faults which we never noticed because we were too busy thinking about the next idea that is more exciting. I have to remind myself to keep moving over each obstacle some times fast some times slow but always forward.
Miele really is the best. Heavy though, getting my 98Kg washing machine one up to 4th floor by stairs was no fun but it's worth it, it actually lasts a long time and is worth repairing instead of just dumping it.

Your machining for the torch holder looks very good, it looks like a lot of fun and I bet it is very satisfying to successfully create something from a block of metal.
Having something stolen is the worst feeling ever! and sometimes the damage they cause in getting in costs more than the financial loss of the theft.
Maybe having a small attractive power tool with a tracker inside might be a good thing, although I hope your security upgrades are enough to discourage these scummy thieves in the future.
I really enjoyed the video, fabricating is one of my favourite jobs in my workshop, the housing is awsome and looks although it is an original part.
I have a MPCNC machine for wood milling, your video has inspired me to remake some of the smaller 3d printed parts in aluminium, I would love to make some 3D printed metal parts but the filament and debinding service costs a fortune and so I will mill them on my manual mini mill.
If I could, I would like be a student for my entire life. I love learning and trying new things. I get the feeling that you share that mindset. If I can ever go to Germany, I would really like to meet you!

Dear me! Gerolf, You have grown! Both as an inventor & tinkerer, but also as video creator. I'm a fan of yours for quite some time, as your ideas have always appealed to me a lot, but I used to think that some of your creations although functional were a bit dodgy and lacking in quality or appearance, but I have to admit that you've gained professionalism, you're making much better and prettier stuff then before. It's so nice to see that you're always improving! I also really like the new slightly more personal formula of the videos, which are more than just repairathons. Huge kudos!
Also - though I am a smidge spoiled with newer technology (not a great fan of 60-70's tools, which very super durable, but much more bulky and less ergonomic then modern ones)I think I share your passion and live objectives. Of repair, reuse and create instead of buy. I've been keen on many areas, to some degree on electronics, computers, audio equipment, but lately drifted very much towards automotive and mechanics, currently working mostly on bringing back to live my 33 year old Toyota 4x4, also making a ton of improvements to make it future proof for years to come. I remember you solving issues with your Subaru, and I was thinking - ohhh that's my field of expertise! I could have helped!
My workshop is very small and modest, yet very well organized and it gives me what I need to do. I'm currently located in eastern Poland, not very attractive region, but I'm a frequent traveler and i move living places from time to time too. Not really recommending this region for a journey, though should you be in the area - feel invited. Also, will gladly join you in your lab, to help, to chat and to x-change experiences and knowledge.

Love the fact that you re-use items that are thrown away and turn them into reusable items. Unfortunately we live in a world where people will pray on others just to make a few bucks and not bothered about what it has taken money time work to be able to buy the items. On a good note keek doing what you do best making great videos and sharing your knowledge with use all.

The blower adapter is interesting, here in australia 125mm ducting is common, I might go pick up a few old dryers for the motors. Thank you for the ideas

I'm sorry for your loss. Having been a victim of high value theft this week myself, it's a kick in the head. In the States the amount of crime is staggering and skyrocketing.
I get tremendous vicarious pleasure watching your videos. I'm a frustrated tinkerer who would dearly love to have a workshop of some kind so that I could make things. I am in the process of creating a corner of my living room as a place where I can work on refurbishing older computers which I will upgrade to run on Linux and then give them away to people in need of a computer. I look forward to watching you work on your various projects. I'm sorry to hear about the issues you have been facing regarding the break-ins and the littering. I don't know what the petty crime rate has historically been in Germany, but it does surprise me somewhat that littering has become a problem - I always thought that of all European countries. the UK was by far the scruffiest in terms of littering, which has always been near epidemic proportions.
Yes the 🇬🇧 is a disgrace these days. I can remember that I'd get a clip around the ear if I'd dropped litter in the 60's, certainly a right telling off from my mum and dad. These days if you remonstrated with someone, even an 8 year old the least you'd get is being told to F off.

I completely understand where you're coming from. Its also happening SO often in the States. 2 weeks ago I had someone break into my shop and stole $15000 worth of stuff. The stuff he didn't steal, he broke. It's so frustrating. And if we're being completely honest, there's no valid excuse for it. Drug addicts are a HUGE problem, and we are constantly pretending like it's not. If I'm ever near Germany, I would LOVE to meet you, as I have a handful of inventions I'd love to get your insight on. Keep up the great work!

About the tumbler/dryer. The Lawnmower Lady (yt channel) is using hers to tumble and clean rusty gastanks. I think that's a brilliant Idea. Just put it on cold, and seal the tank very good... Works fine! Of course you have to stuff some old cussion to pack it tight in there😉also tumble some smoll metal parts could be handy in there🤔😏. Betonmischmaschine geht natürlich auch aber ich finde die sind immer so laut😎😂

There is some irony in the scrap you repair now being desirable enough to cause a break in, people suck. Stay safe, keep up the good work. And protect whats yours! I had an idea to stop people from drinking beers and leaving their cans at the back door of our shop. We cant do anything drastic but I want to put up a sign that says "RADIATION LEVELS NORMAL" a subtle threat that there is radiation, and letting them decide what normal is.

A guy like you could make a wonderful life over here. Here in Tassie it's a bit like the Black Forest used to be years ago. Rural, lots of trees and fields. We get the 4 seasons (unlike most of Australia), and the big plus is that there is almost no crime. With your skillset, I expect that you'd have no problems gettiing a work visa, and then citizenship, which is what I did when I moved here from a deteriorating UK 20 years ago. Honestly, I wish I'd left Europe sooner! I've been various places in the World, and to make a life, Tasmania takes some beating!
Whatever you do when you come over to Aussie, for pity's sake don't just go to Sydney... the big cities in Australia are all the same and the worst parts. Go bush and meet some REAL Aussies!

Watching all those passes with the milling machine made me wonder whether you'd considered simply using your 3d printed part to make a mould, and then use this to cast the part in aluminium. Did you think of this option?

Gerolf, love your videos. Too bad about the break ins and crime. Unfortunately it happens all too often here in the USA also. You probably knew this but if you have your water table right under the cutting torch ( mine material when I’m cutting actually touches the water) the cutting smoke is actually minimal. That being said I’m currently working on a hood above the table that is going to pull the rest of the fumes from the shop. The problem here in Minnesota in the winter is it gets extremely cold like -20 to -40F cold. And when you suck the fumes out, you have to have make up air into the building which means you have to let the cold air in. Good luck!
