it FLYS over that top hat
They should add just a little bit more to really freak you out lol
If you haven't been on it, how do you know it already doesn't do that@@zachjones2346
The stronger airtime on the top hat + the stronger laterals down the top hat is going to be insane
That ejector airtime has to be insane
Yeah compared to how it used to go over the top (I swear sometimes it would barely make it over). That was the first thing I noticed about this iteration of the ride that wind probably won’t be as much of an issue as it used to be. It kinda reminds me of when millennium force opened up and how much different the left hill was on that vs traditional chain lift hills. You def notice the difference when you’re going over the top of that vs a traditional lifts.
I can feel the airtime over the top hat
Can you feel the zero Gs at the top of the spike?? That will be gut tingling
Just rode it yesterday, absolutely the scariest thing I've ever done
And now it's closed! You've got bragging rights!
@flyer3455 really? What happened to it?
@@egg.6223 it's closed indefinitely. The rumor is that they used a cheaper material for the wheels and they're cracking. The cars need to be fit with new wheels. That's the rumor. It's not clear when it will be back. It could be out for a month or the whole season.
@@flyer3455 best not be out for the whole season I’m moving out of ohio soon and I need to ride that
Lucky
I gasped out loud at how fast it goes over the top hat. I hope it stays that way!
That was in the front car. I bet you just get yanked over if you are in the back car! Imagine ejector air at 420 feet!!
@@kickthesky Right? And you'll also be the farthest up the spike. That alone is why I want to sit in the back.
The fact of how fast the train goes over the tophat suggests that the new system has a higher top speed than the old Top Thrill Dragster. Maybe it really is almost 200km/h (124mph) here compared to the old topspeed (120mph)
I think its more so that this system launches it at a smooth 120 each time up and over. TTD would frequently launch at 118 and sometimes get down to 112. That system would adjust the speed based on the amount of time it took to get Top Hat from launch. Thats why they took the speedometer away that it originally opened with 🤣 looks super fun!!
@@dilliontrippy535 I doubt true rollbacks are possible on this new system
This ride looks phenomenal. WAY better than I was expecting. DEFINITELY better than the original. It’s a long ride and those launches are sure to have an insane sense of speed. It literally looks so incredibly good.
that backwards launch looks INSANE. you can hear from the screaming how intense it gets
imagine being back row as you reach the top of that spike lol holy shit
The hydraulic launcher of the original can’t be beat. It’s not nostalgia, it’s science. Ridden lsm launches and nothing compares to the bullet like feeling off being shot out of a hydraulic launch.
Original was 0-120 in 4 seconds.
One of the few ways to experience that amount of acceleration on earth (freefall in a vacuum only reaches 87 mph in 4 seconds), you'd otherwise need to drive an actual dragster or a fighter jet to feel that kind of acceleration.
The various clones of TTD like Kingda Ka or the slower/shorter Red Force luckily still exist (for now).
@@ts4gv I have ridden the original. Can’t imagine how this wouldn’t be better. It’s so much more dynamic of a ride.
First good POV! The camera doesn't lag on the LSMs!
Frrr
The first camera they used was janky, and nothing to do with the LSMs. The EMF coming up from the LSMs isn’t that large to affect the camera that high off the track.
Fr
Fr fr
That looked a lot better than I thought it would!
Launch looks gentle as expected, but man that top hat is now an airtime hill 😂
Yeah! I just seems like so much fun! Only prollem is I don't like Rollercoasters, but I want to ;-;
Yep. I’ll miss the hydraulic launch, but this still looks like a unique and fun ride!
@@JakeyfromStateFarmu have a higher chance of dying to a shark than a roller coaster
@@MasonPerry-tt8zhunless you never swim in the ocean
my heart almost exploded out my chest just watching it. Cant wait to ride
flying over the tophat like that might be the redemption that this ride needs since its now without its signature hydro launch.
i thought the same thing
big emphasis on the “might” here. I thought the launch of TTD was the best part of it
This is great. Wicked Twister was one of my favorite rides, and it is almost as if they took parts of Wicked Twister and added them to Top Thrill. I cannot wait to try this!
the back spike definitely is a tribute to Wicked Twister!
It does! I 100% does!
Did you ever get to ride it?
I heard "Baby I'm Ready to Go" in the background, this makes me very happy.
So glad they kept the music!!!
@@HostName-jp6cu I think it's a remix of it.
That top hat has way more ejector air time than before, so it seems that it's actually hitting 120mph pretty consistently. I've had some friends who were operators for TTD, and they said it very rarely actually hit 120. It was usually between 112-119, depending on the system, weather, weight, etc.
You also have to remember these trains are lighter, have bigger wheels, and sit you higher above the tracks. I think all of these things combined are going to make that top hat, and 270° heartline feel way more forceful. Can't wait to ride this thing!
I’m from Los Angeles & my dad sent this to me 😂😂 he know I love rides now this my dream ride to get on lol
I got to ride it on Prestige preview. The only bad thing I have to say was that I only got to ride it once! So fun, especially being flung over the tophat! A part of me will always miss Dragster for that 0-120mph, shot out of a cannon, feeling, but this ride absolutely kicks ass! Can't wait to ride it again!
I sooooooo can't wait to ride that!!!!!!!
oh ....
wait ....
I rode the top thrill dragster for the first time five years ago and now they’ve changed it. Looks Great!
I used to work for Cedar Point when Top Thrill originally opened and on my day off they needed people to ride it for the commercial they were filming that day. I got to ride it 27 times. If you ever watch the original commercial or see the picture of the season pass with the photo of the Top Thrill on it, I'm the bald guy in third row in the dark blue shirt 😂😂😂😂😂. Yes ... 27 times ... in a row 😂😂😂😂😂 I never rode it again after that 😂😂😂😂😂
but after watching this!!!! I'd ride this!!!!!
@@ericslegacybricks wow that’s crazy man! Idk how you ride it 27 times but still cool at same time. It seems like a fun place to work as well.
@SuspiciousUser-ef4zh I was young and stupid!!!! That's how I was able to ride it 27 times!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 ohhhhh to be young and stupid again 😁😁😁😁😁
“Am I still here? Am I frozen, guys?” 😂🥶
It was such a great ride wished I could’ve gotten on it more than once today, but I’ll definitely be waiting in line all summer to get back on 🎉
Happy to see tt make its return. As a true coaster fan, im 100% excited about tt2. Nothing is more dissapointing then seeing people posting to their coaster channel, claiming they love coasters, bad mouthing or doubting tt2. I live out of state and drive 6 hours every year to cedar point. I have a six flags 2 hours away. I havent been to six flags in over a decade because my love for cedar point and what they offer. I was sad to think top thrill was gonna be dismantled. So to see it reimagined and running again, makes me so happy. Yes its no 120mph right out the gate, but a mini rollback followed up with a massive vertical spike, is exciting. And the plus side is wait times for maverick, millenium, and steel vengeance, should drop alittle bit.
I'm also 6 hours away from Cedar Point, Although my six flags is just an hour away. Great America isn't that bad since they've added a 2nd train to Maxxforce Finally. But Top Thrill 2 looks insane, I wonder if I can still watch the coaster take off from corkscrews station
I could feel the G's of that just watching.
As someone who has rode every coaster at Cedar Point, including the OG Top Thrill Dragster, this clearly looks like it's going to be the best ride in the park.
Although, I'll always have a place in my heart for Maverick.
Are you from Ohio
Im from ohio
Toledo
@@KojoHunsaker-fk5gm If I lived in Ohio, I'd be going to Cedar Point all the time. Unfortunately, I don't live anywhere near Ohio...or a good amusement park. :(
Go ride TTD2 for me, plz. And Maverick. 👍
its nice that we still had a coaster similar to wicked twister even after its gone
The first launch is still slow but it does have a noticeable bump in acceleration at the beginning, which is an improvement over what i though it would be like
Personally, I think the speed of the first launch sets up the rest of the ride well.
It’s never going to match the intensity of the original hydraulic launch, but this still looks like a blast
@@TheLsp2011 Very true. That was special. This is very cool in its own way though. I think people will enjoy it!
@@MarcusLeshockHow rough was it?

Looks pretty awesome. I hope I can make it to Ohio this summer.
My god.. you must fly over the top!!! Just watching it gave me aur time!
Going backwards looked intense damn!!!
The airtime on the top hat looks insane. Wow
ITS SO LOUD I LOVE IT!
I cannot WAIT to ride this!!
Some guy just flew off it 💀
@@sorxysky7326 You mean a water guy 💀
Looks absolutely rippin! Thanks!
Cannot wait!
great pov
I'm here to say this ride is insanely wild, fun, freeing! That long acceleration really is where it's at !
I’m going here in June with a friend of mine. Can’t wait to ride this!
We got our first laps on this yesterday and I am still speechless. Great rush.
Fantastic & awesome roller coaster 🎢
It was just shut down for re-engineering the cars. 5/14/25
Think how terrifying it would have been if the riders knew THAT was coming!
I have the biggest smile on my face. This looks amazing
Can’t believe Zamperla actually pulled it off wow! Congratulations to them! It’s a success!
Not so fast, TT2 down indefinitely after only two weeks.
@@derekk6906 after months
Yo the double launch is so hype ! I can’t wait !!
I’ve been wanting to go since I was a kid
it opened this year
It just SOUNDED cold out there 🥶
That spike in the back seat omg can't wait
That's an awesome roller coaster!
Man that top hat is amazing.
That looks great. I worry about the wait times though
The wait time is possibly next fall. TR2 down indefinitely.
WOW!!!
I think this makes the ride cooler in a way because everyone gets to feel a iconic rollback while getting more ride time and similar speed
Glad to see they kept the bleachers!
I got to ride tt2 twice april 30th. When they finally get it ready to run again, it's worth whatever wait.
Daaaaaamn
This ride was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I went to cedar point yesterday and this one was closed I was so disappointed 😭😭
That new spike looks sick. 👀
I’m not even a huge fan of rollercoasters, but I could literally FEEL the ejector airtime on the tophat
This is amazing, can't wait to ride it. My only question is, what is the throughput? Like on a busy day at the park, how long would it take to get on with what looks like only 2 trains being possible.
dawg, it took a just more than a minute before the next train had the option to enter the track. a loading time takes 2 minutes usually. no difference.
@@robertrusu1958 If that's the case, then that's amazing. Just a legit question as I haven't been to it yet.
Just looking online though, each train has a capacity of 20 riders. Assuming every train is fully filled (CP seemed to be good at that in my visit without sacrificing load times), and assuming a loading time of 2 minutes as you said, ride time of 2:09 (taken from this video, not counting the unloading time and the time taken to get back to the loading area, which isn't shown), that's a 4:09 cycle per train minimum. I'm slightly autistic and just a nerd, so trying to break this down (don't take this as me going against your comment or anything, just genuinely curious):
249 seconds per ride cycle (without time taken for guests to get off and train to get to loading area)
20 riders per train
3 potential trains at once
249s/20 = 12.45s ride cycle/rider
3600s/249s per ride = each train can get off 14.46 runs/hr
3*14.46 = 43.38 total train runs/hr
43.38*20 guests = 867.8 guests/hr
That still seems like a very low throughput for a very busy park, even not taking into account the aforementioned unloading time and the time taken to get back to the loading area. If I misunderstood something or am missing something, let me know. In my brain, it still seems like a capacity nightmare. I'm still skeptical of 3 trains running consistently too; if it were only 2 trains, it's be just 578.5 riders/hour.
I have no idea what the average daily CP attendance is, but either way seems very low.
I love Star Trek from the Movie Park and find the few meters vertically backwards extremely intense, and then that extreme 128m? Oh dear, I think I would faint
So Sick!!!!
I rode Top Thrill 1 time the year it opened then never again as it wasn't worth the long wait for a 30 sec ride. This though...........This is much better
I got to ride it before it closed after 10 days. It was amazing.
Even though I haven't been to Cedar Point in over 10 years (and I only live about 2 and 1/2 hours away), I was bummed to hear they took down the top thrill dragster. I didn't know they were replacing it with a better version!
This is so much better than the original! This is such a Phoenix story of a ride! And the original was great! But this is just so cool!
Watching this cuz ima do this tomorrow hoping it's opens
That brake run looks smooth
I nearly went deaf from it lol🤣🤣💀💀
💯💯💯💯
So instead of it taking off at 120 it will now go 120 through that whole straight away because of the new design🤘
when i rode this it was crazy😮
Is going backwards that fast pretty amazing? I'm so excited.
It’s insane. You can only do it on Superman: Escape from Krypton at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
please tell me they load a second train and dispatch it as soon as the other one crosses the finish line.
Holy sht it launches over that top hat. Thats insane.
If this is how fast it goes when the weather is cold, I wonder what it'll be like when it gets warmer.
Finally one where the camera isn't messed up by the LSM's
Idk if i would be screaming with joy or fear with that airtime 😂😂
Either way, still gonna go on it
I miss the dragster sound effects they had before the coaster took off. Also the “keep your arms down head back and hold “ with the stop light. Made the anticipation better
I Think Top Thrill 2 Looks Insane!
Could you guys give an estimate on how high the first rollback is? I haven’t been able to find info about it.
I don’t have an exact height, but based on the raw drone cam in the newest video I posted, it looks like it goes about halfway up the top hat on the first launch 🤷♂️
@@MarcusLeshock thanks! I was thinking around there too but I wasn’t sure. That’s a high backwards fall!
Hi Marcus! Could I use this POV in a TT2 review with credit?
Sure!
I rode Top Thrill Dragster a month before they closed it forever.
This ride is a great ride, but there's nothing like that 0-116mph acceleration on the OG TTD
Looks great, I do wish they’d added a hump after the top hat though.
The camera quality is kinda similar to Six Flags POV. Nice! 👍
The wait time to ride TT2 is insane, it may be late summer before anyone gets to ride it now.
I can just imagine where your stomach will feel like on the first launch, going backwards and going forwards again.
I want to ride this so bad
I just worry that the increased ride time will drastically increase the wait time, which was already long on crowded days.
Marcus, do you get airtime on that top hat?? It looks INCREDIBLE
I’m not sure if I would call it airtime. It’s a lot of force. I could feel the blood rushing from my head. It’s intense haha!
It looks like a wilder experience. Idk tho, never been there but thinking about the fact that you're gonna pass this launch 2 more times gotta be intimidating idk
I wonder if it can rollback after the 3rd launch (and if it does will magnetic breaks slow it and it will repeat or will it do another swing?)
If that happens, a safety code will be thrown and the train will come to a stop along the long part of the track. Then, the mechanic will come out and do a reset on the system, and will enter a code to return the coaster to the "start line". If possible, the ride will then just restart from the beginning of the program. If it faults further (train will not return to station) then they will evac the ride. This is just my guess, ElToroRyan would be able to tell us. He was a ride operator there for years and he loved working the original TTD.
@@1138gabe😢
Waited 4 hrs on opening day it was worth it ride is amazing
🤣 4 hours for a 25 sec ride? Could never be me.
Remember the rumors of this becoming a space theme coaster LOL
I loved it when it would take you first pull over the tophat and you had a moment to look around at that height. This now cooks over the hat
Good lord, they actually made Top Thrill Dragster more intense LOL
Did the ride uproot out of the ground when the train went over the top? loL
Great we have a commentator on the ride
Is it still open?
this pov does make it look pretty dang good
Holy Shit !!!
As much as I’m excited to ride this!!! Why do I get the nervous feeling, it going that fast over the top hill, is going to cause wear and tear on the tracks
ehhhhh i wouldn't be too worried about it, Dragster was originally designed to handle it, if you look at 2003 Media Day videos it RIPS over the top hat with way heavier trains. so i think it'll be just fine.
This looks absolutely amazing! And what's even better, we won't have talkie-McTalk-face giving us the stupid play by play. I get it's media day, but that guy was just too much 😂
It it rough?
Nah, just a mild rattle. Not much to disturb you on ride.
I’m ten and for the summer I’m going on this with my dad
