    I used to do pest control and this brought back memories of this bad mouse infestation i went to they went into every drawer or cabinet in the house and even ate through the floor. There were dead and live ones all around and some so old they looked melted into the carpet. Saddest part was the old man was living in there like that, i couldn't even go in without a respirator cause it smelled so bad. I actually kinda miss that job lol wish it paid a little better then it did but it was in idaho and nothing paid very well lmao.

    I used to do pest work, so I'm a bit surprised that you found NO live rats in the house, especially given all that activity. If they have a food source, water and shelter, they are usually staying for the long term. My worst infestation was a restaurant that was still open. I trapped 60 rats in 2 months, often going in 4-5 times a week to remove dead ones. Anyways, I love your channel.

    • @TwinHomeExperts
      @TwinHomeExperts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +65

      Yes, this is VERY true if your not dealing with sewer rats that we would typically see live rats. The reason is because sewer rats are smart in that they hear and will run away down to the city sewer.
      Appreciate your feedback & support! 👍🙏🙌

    • @mattgosling2657
      @mattgosling2657 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      I wouldn't have fancied eating at the restaurant where you caught 60 rats bud. Isn't it illegal for places to stay open and serve food with circumstances like that?

    • @coyotecreekband236
      @coyotecreekband236 2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      @@mattgosling2657 I was baffled that they were still open, so I asked the manager, "how long have you had this problem?" and he said about 5 years, and I asked how long he had the current pest company and he said "5 years!" We do have Provincial health inspectors that visit (or are supposed to visit) every 6 months; and more frequently if there's a problem. I live in Canada, but I'd imagine the rules are the same everywhere. What that makes me think is the Health Inspector either isn't visiting, or he's getting cash to look the other way. I should also mention that during my initial inspection they also had Phorid fly infestation, and when I sprayed a Pyrethrin agent behind the dishwasher I flushed out a hundred or so cockroaches, so even the laziest inspector should have found huge red flags. I also did treatments for those other issues while I was there, but since this is a rodent channel, I only mentioned the rats. It was an ethnic restaurant and the kitchen crew didn't speak english so every time they saw me pull a dead rat out of a trap they'd all cheer. It was a bizarre 2 months, to say the least. My other thought was the pest company that had been there 5 years obviously wasn't doing their job either.

    • @mattgosling2657
      @mattgosling2657 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@coyotecreekband236 yeah mate the previous company don't sound like the best lol. Five years is insane I'm surprised they weren't running around customers feet while they were eating their meals. Someone must have been getting paid back handers cos that's shocking, rats could do a massive amount of damage in 5 years. How many Michelin stars did the place have??

    • @coyotecreekband236
      @coyotecreekband236 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@mattgosling2657 I'm not sure about Michelin stars, but the place was a palace in the front of the restaurant where the customers sat. Spare no expense with fancy looking stuff everywhere. As I walked through the restaurant during my first few minutes of the inspection, as I turned the corner from the front of the restaurant to the kitchen area the strong scent of rodent urine actually caught me in the the back of my throat, and I was used to smelling it pretty strong at accounts. After doing my inspection and initial report for the prospective customer, I texted our Sales Manager to tell him when he's making up his quote to go very high with it, as I will be essentially having to move into the place for the first few weeks. I went in 5-6 times a week for the first 3 weeks, usually taking 60-90 minutes per visit to address their never-ending issues. It really makes me wonder how many other restaurants are out there, feeding the masses with similar (or God forbid, WORSE) situations. The combination of Covid and my pest background is what brought me to watching the twins, and The Mink Man. The only reason I left the business was that I was working full days M-F, plus weekends on call and to service cruise ships, plus the occasional night shift. We had a young child at home and I was barely there. When I told my boss I think we needed more help, he said it wasn't in the budget, and maybe I needed to work more nights. My doctor forced me to take 3 months off due to exhaustion, and realized my health was more important. When I resigned from my position a few months after returning to the same chaos, they hired 3 guys.

    Patiently waited for that same rat that attacked your buddy to make an appearance. Patiently waited for a rat to pop up behind the washer, toilet, dishwasher, etc. Patiently waited for a rat in a nightrobe to leisurely stroll around the corner and offer you a cup of coffee, or to order some Chinese take-out. Patiently waited to see anything that resembled a rat. What I’ve taken from this is that there must be a better way to wait than patiently.

    I have rentals in Sacramento. My solution is cheap and easy. I use the Home Depot rat poison coated with maple syrup. The problem disappeares very quickly. I don't care about the smell because I don't live there. Works every time. Good video from Sacramento

    I like how everyone is commenting about rat infestations and pest control and they clicked on the vid to see how they sealed with it. Meanwhile I clicked on it bc I saw a well trained mouse using the bathroom and the cameraman sneaking up on him to get some pics

    I used to do pest work, so I'm a bit surprised that you found NO live rats in the house, especially given all that activity. If they have a food source, water and shelter, they are usually staying for the long term. My worst infestation was a restaurant that was still open. I trapped 60 rats in 2 months, often going in 4-5 times a week to remove dead
