We'll be making mini muffs tomorrow. Toasted hamburger buns, with salad mix you're using in the video, except finely chopped. Ingredients will be ham, Genoa, and Bologna, with Swiss, and Provolone.
We might even use feta crumbles. I have gotten a muffuletta in Metairie before with some feta, and it was great.
We like our Muffs heated, with slightly melted cheese. It really brings out the flavor. We 're about 50 miles from New Orleans, but we like making minis from the comfort of our home. We've made them many times, and they're great.

    • @MOMables

I don’t live in a cave , but I never heard of this sandwich before.
Was doing a general search of sandwiches and the algorithm fed me this.
That looks insane and now I’m on a quest to make it.
By the way I’ve visited Spain twice and their sandwiches and salamis are insane , not to mention they’re bread.

@@MOMablesI've made it using an Italian bread loaf. I haven't been able to find the proper bread anywhere in the SF/Bay Area...and the NOLA companies who sell the bread only offer 3-5 day shipping which costs $19.94 for a single $6 muffuletta round. The one I made was alright but doesn't come close to the ease of buying one from my local cajun restaurant which is only $16 for a half sandwich and is toasted as well. I ended up spending around $50 just for the ingredients to make one sandwich. I made a "Stromboli" version with the leftover "cold cuts" using some Pilsbury pizza dough. I ate half of it and the Great the next day, which tasted better after it sat overnight.

Muffoletta is a traditional sicilian flat bread made in winter, from the area of Palermo. We make it with fresh extravirgin olive oil, anchoves, or dryed tomato or both, and origano. Also we prefer our muffoletta to be hot, freshly baked. So no need of so many ingredients! :D

FYI…capicola is not anything like honey ham. Capicola is cured for at least ten days and made from the neck and shoulders. It is a spicy, slightly dry ham that is very savory, but definitely not sweet like honey ham. Honey ham is overly sweet and usually moist. I like both for different reasons, but there is a big difference between these two types of ham and they are nothing alike.
