I'm really looking forward to this series of videos. I'm an AFOL and a photography enthusiast, and have gotten my nephew into Legos a few years ago. He told me he was particularly interested in creating battle scenes with Legos for the purpose of photographing them. These videos will be perfect for he and I to learn how to photograph this together. I've got the platypod, the accessories, the lighting, the Legos, and my Z8 with macro lens. All I was missing was these videos! Thank you!
I didn't even know this was a thing. Your shots are 👌 I just got a macro lens a few months ago. I've been out shooting flowers and insects and stuff. It's pretty tough cause living things like to move. And wind is always a factor.
Yes, in the Mando/Darth Vader shot I use the lumecube to fill in the shadows on Mando himself. In the Ice Planet duel shot I used the lumecube with an orange gel to create a backlight in order to match the lighting with the background (the sun is behind him in the background image)
💯 👍! !! I have a Nifty 50 but been attempting 35mm ! 70 - 300mm is in my arsenal along with can 100mm ?! #choices #Choices #Choices ???! This video reassures me ive been on the right page with some thing 😅 !!!
Good choice! The Nifty Fifty is an incredibly versatile lens and the 105 macro is my favourite for toy photography in general. Thank you for watching :)
Hi. So im recently looking for a zoom lens( ya i want an all rounder so i prefer a zoom lens) for my gundams. I was looking at the canon rf 24~105 f4 until i found out the minimum focus distance is 45cm. do you think thats too much for toy photography?
@@Platypod THANKS. I also think I'll like it. Quick question: if we try to follow your valuable advice behind our camera, is it possible to share our results in order to have your opinion and advice. Thanks again for these videos. I'm going to start the series again to make sure I understand everything. See you soon

Toys are a fantastic subject to shoot...not only on a rainy day :)
The lume cube technical your fill light?

It depends on what toys you are photographing. It'll work for action figures but for minifigs like LEGO I would recommend a macro lens.
This series is very interesting. Can't wait for the rest. ;-) I'm going to look at Dave DEBAERMAEKER's book as recommended ;-)
Hi @jean-benoitdestaercke3638, we're glad you like it! Dave's book is fantastic - you'll love it :)
